The Emmy-winner explained that his relationship with his co-star became strained towards the end of their run on 'Cheers' after he and the cast staged an intervention for Grammer because of how heavily he was using drugs and alcohol at the time. But after the intervention, he and Grammer — who has since been sober for years — had a tense exchange. Danson added that after 'Cheers' ended, the pair saw each 'here or there' but 'very rarely.' He explained, 'It felt like probably because I hadn't completed that moment. And I had walked away without it being really complete. So maybe that's why I didn't reach out to him or whatever. I don't know. So it was very simple. In our podcast, it was a very simple conversation.' I wish I hadn't let these years go by without reaching out.'' Danson also shared that though Grammer asked him 'several times over the years' to guest star on 'Frasier,' he frequently said no because he didn't know how to play his 'Cheers' character Sam Malone in his 60s or 70s. There really wasn't an argument. It was at a time in my life when I was actually going through a lot of self-doubt, self-loathing, honestly,' he said in January. 'It was when I was drinking a lot. Ted had just come up and said, 'You know, I'm kind of mad at you that sometimes you don't show up ready to go.' And I said, 'OK, I respect that.' And that actually was sort of it. Now, maybe what happened for Ted was he stepped away from what might have been a better friendship. Maybe he just had to protect himself. I don't really know. But, I said, 'Thanks.' We were fine with that.'

Bill Burr slams Howie Mandel for surprising him with possible half-brother Billy Corgan Show Caption Hide Caption Billy Corgan on NWA champion Matt Cardona and why he understands him NWA's Matt Cardona has had a lot to prove to the world of pro wrestling. Billy Corgan explains why Cardona is the best of his time yet still unappreciated. Miguel Fernandez and Phil Strum, Poughkeepsie Journal Bill Burr isn't happy with Howie Mandel. During a Monday appearance on "The Rich Eisen Show," the comedian, 56, slammed Mandel for surprising him with Billy Corgan during a recent podcast interview. Mandel framed the ambush as a family reunion, as Corgan previously theorized that Burr might be his half-brother. While Burr expressed annoyance in the original interview, fans were unsure whether he was mad or if he was only joking. On "The Rich Eisen Show," though, Burr suggested he definitely did not approve of Mandel's stunt. USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Mandel for comment. "Howie did what he did because he is a Hollywood whore, and he doesn't care what happens," Burr said. "He could have said something, and he just brings up all that weirdness. ... I did not appreciate what Howie did. Not at all." Bill Burr, Billy Corgan address whether they're half-brothers Despite this, Burr said that Mandel is "hard to hate," joking, "How do you hate a germaphobe? He's not threatening." The comedian also noted he has no ill will toward Corgan, saying the Smashing Pumpkins guitarist is "fine." In November, Corgan appeared on the "Howie Mandel Does Stuff" podcast and revealed that about 10 years earlier, his stepmother told him that Burr "might be one of the children that your father sired in his days being a traveling musician." He suggested this could be possible because his dad "did once tell me that I had a half-brother named Bill, who was born around the same time as me." But he clarified that after sitting on it, he doesn't really think they're related. Still, when Burr appeared on "Howie Mandel Does Stuff" last week, the "America's Got Talent" judge surprised him during their interview by bringing out Corgan to sit next to him. This was the first time the two had met. Bill Burr declares cancel culture 'over,' Bill Maher says Louis C.K. was reprimanded 'enough' "I thought this would be great, to bring family together," Mandel said, and the podcast episode was titled "Family Reunion." As soon as Corgan entered, Burr seemed unhappy, asking, "Can this be edited out, or no?" He asked Corgan why he felt "the need" to bring up the idea that they could be half-brothers and told him, "Did you ever think the fact that I never told that story, that maybe you shouldn't?" Throughout the subsequent conversation, Burr spoke as if he and Corgan legitimately share the same father, although it was somewhat unclear if he was only playing along with that idea as a bit. "At some point, it did become funny to me that he had multiple families," Burr said, adding that "my dad told us he was a dentist" and "didn't do the whole musician thing." Burr also slammed Mandel during the episode, saying the host only cared about "ratings" and that the ambush was "rude," although he added, "I still love you, even though you did this." When Mandel continued to probe the two while playing emotional piano music, the comic asked, "Dude, you haven't gone far enough at this point?" Mandel eventually left the room entirely, leaving Burr and Corgan to talk as the piano music kept playing. Corgan was apparently not in on the stunt. He expressed surprise that Burr did not know he was coming on the show and said that Mandel "totally set me up."

Bill Burr slams Howie Mandel for podcast stunt with Billy Corgan
Comedian Bill Burr called out Howie Mandel after an unexpected appearance by Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan during an episode of Howie Mandel Does Stuff. The January 21 podcast featured a heated exchange after Mandel surprised Burr with Corgan, who shared an awkward story about being told they might be half-brothers. 'You're an a—hole,' Burr, 56, said to Mandel after Corgan, 57, joined mid-interview. Mandel admitted he thought it would be 'a good surprise,' but Burr clearly disagreed, asking if the segment could be edited out. The controversy stems from a past comment by Corgan's stepmother, who suggested Burr might be one of her late husband's illegitimate children, based on their striking resemblance. During the podcast, Burr criticized Mandel's motives, accusing him of prioritizing ratings over respect. 'He's bringing you in here, not because he's trying to heal the bulls—t that we went through growing up,' Burr said. Corgan, who initially believed Mandel was aware of the story, revealed that Mandel encouraged him to share it on air after a private conversation. 'He said, 'Oh, you've got to say this on the air,'' Corgan explained. While Burr expressed no ill will toward Corgan, he admitted the incident brought back painful memories of his father. 'It's not that I don't like him; it reminds me of all of that s–t,' Burr said. Corgan clarified that he does not believe they are related, adding, 'There are just people in the world that look alike.' The ambush left Burr frustrated, with the comedian calling the situation a 'ratings stunt.' Mandel has yet to respond publicly.
