Incoming cohort of Boston Celtics tries some batting practice at Fenway Park

All of the New England major league sports teams have developed a certain camaraderie over the decades of northeastern athletic excellence they have produced. And with the Boston Celtics and Boston Red Sox sharing not only the same region in which they play (and by default, a large number of multi-sport fans from the region), the bond is especially strong when it comes to baseball and basketball in the area. So it should not surprise us to see the current cohort of young Celtics players taking some time to hit some baseballs at batting practice at the Red Sox' home arena of Fenway Park this week. Amari Williams, Hugo Gonzalez, Luka Garza, and other recent arrivals took in the experience as they get settled into their new home city. The folks behind the "CLNS Media Boston Sports Network" YouTube channel put together a clip of the event for us to watch later. Check it out below! The Celtics signed Max Shulga to a two way deal, but will he play in the NBA?

The Boston Celtics signed 2025 NBA Draft pick Max Shulga to a two way deal, but will he play in the NBA this season? The former Virginia Commonwealth combo guard had himself a solid if unremarkable stint suiting up for the Sin City Celtics in the league's 2025 Las Vegas Summer League after being picked up by Boston with the No. 57 overall pick of this year's draft. In a season that will see the Celtics mostly looking to develop younger players in pace of their usual pursuit of postseason wins, we can expect to see at least some of the cohort of young prospects taken by Boston in the draft this summer. Given Hugo Gonzalez, the Celtics' No. 28 pick, will already be in competition for minutes not only with likely starters Payton Pritchard and Derrick White, new addition Anfernee Simons (if he isn't traded first), and fellow Summer Celtics Baylor Scheierman and Jordan Walsh, there may be little or even no run at the NBA level for Shulga. The hosts of the CLNS Media "How Bout Them Celtics!" podcast, Jack Simone and Sam LaFrance, took some time on a recent episode of their show to talk over how much we can expect the VCU alum to play in Maine. Celtics' first-round pick named NBA Summer League disappointment

After the NBA Summer League concluded, the Boston Celtics had a productive outing, finishing with a 4-1 record. The Celtics' third-year guard Jordan Walsh was the team's standout for the Summer League, as his performance this year made him Boston's all-time Summer League scorer. This summer wasn't as productive for the Celtics' lone first-round pick in 2025, Hugo Gonzalez. Gonzalez was Boston's No. 28 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft out of Real Madrid. At just 19 years old, Gonzalez began playing professional basketball overseas at just 16 years old. He was most productive for Real Madrid in Liga ACB, playing in 29 games and averaging 5.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, while shooting 56.5% from the field in 14.2 minutes per game. His first Summer League in the NBA, however, was less impressive, according toThe Athletic's John Hollinger. "The questions about his skill level didn't exactly vanish with his play in Vegas. Gonzalez repeatedly lost his handle, including one notable turnover when he took a single dribble from a standstill and simultaneously had the ball picked and committed a clear path foul. He finished summer league with as many turnovers (13) as baskets and, in addition to shaky perimeter shooting, only shot 6 of 20 inside the arc," Hollinger said in an article. As a taller guard, Gonzales came into the NBA pre-draft process as a player who thrives in pick-and-roll situations, but his shooting ability from behind the three-point line (27.1% for Real Madrid last season) and habits of making passes off of one foot were labeled as problems for the 6-foot-6, 205-pound guard.

Which summer league standouts will the Boston Celtics lean on in the regular season?

Which Las Vegas Summer League standouts will the Boston Celtics lean on in the NBA's 2025-26 regular season? The Sin City Celtics were a deep squad this year, and the players from the Summer Celtics still in Boston's orbit at this late date in the 2025 offseason have a shot at making some waves with real run at the NBA level if they make the most of the opportunities in front of them. Boston's three picks from the 2025 NBA Draft -- Hugo Gonzalez, Max Shulga, and Amari Williams -- will all likely see at least a little run with the parent club this coming campaign with some luck. And we ought to expect some real minutes for summer league vets Baylor Scheierman and Jordan Walsh. The folks behind the "NESN" YouTube channel put together a clip from their "Hold My Banner" show that took some time on a recent episode to talk it over. Take a look at the clip embedded below to hear what they had to say about which summer league standouts ought to be worth following for Boston fans this season.
