Police hunt two men over armed robbery attempt in Hulu Selangor
KUALA LUMPUR: Police are tracking down two individuals suspected of attempting an armed robbery at a shop in Hulu Selangor in the early hours of June 18. Hulu Selangor acting police chief DSP Mohd Asri Mohd Yunus said the suspects' actions were captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV), and the victim lodged a police report at 6.42 am the same day. He said CCTV footage of the attempted robbery has since gone viral on social media. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects, dressed in black, wearing caps and face masks, and armed with machetes, tried to attack the victim using the weapon after allegedly entering the premises through the back door. 'The victim managed to scream for help, which caused the suspects to panic and flee the scene without taking anything,' he said in a statement today. Mohd Asri said efforts were underway to track down the two suspects, believed to be local men, and the case is being investigated under Section 393 of the Penal Code for attempted robbery. Police seek public help after fatal accident in Bukit Beruntung
PETALING JAYA: The police are seeking public assistance for information on a recent fatal accident between two cars on Jalan Sungai Choh in Bukit Beruntung. The collision left one man dead and another severely injured. Hulu Selangor acting OCPD Deputy Supt Mohd Asri Mohd Yunus said the accident occurred sometime before 9.30pm on Saturday (April 26) and was reported to the Hulu Selangor District Police Headquarters at that time. He said early investigations found that a car travelling from Gombak towards Bukit Beruntung, collided with an oncoming car that veered into its lane. The driver of one of the cars was a 23-year-old man who was confirmed dead at the scene after the Fire and Rescue Department extricated him from his vehicle. 'His body was then taken to the Forensic Unit at Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital for a post-mortem examination. 'Meanwhile, the 29-year-old driver of the other car was taken to the Red Zone at Selayang Hospital due to his internal injuries. 'The public are requested to come forward with any information related to this accident to assist in the investigation,' he said in a press statement on Sunday (April 27). He added that the case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
