Man sparks male loneliness debate after swiping right 2million times on Tinder

Tinder user Hayden detailed in his Reddit post how he has managed just one date, which was unsuccessful, in five years on the app after swiping right on more than 2 million profiles A 26-year-old man has gone viral after sharing his Tinder profile, on which he has landed just one date after swiping right to more than two million profiles on the dating app. The Reddit post detailing the story ruffled feathers online with large groups of both men and women in agreement that the poor date ratio was due to several 'red flags' in the man's profile which included stereotypical 'catching fish' pictures and hoodies with bad jokes printed on them. ‌ The man, who goes by Hayden on his profile, shared that he has been on the dating app for a little over five years. According to statistics he published himself, he has given 2,020,459 swipes right and 38,014 swipes left. ‌ "Over 90% of my matches are bots, I also have to change my location so I can keep swiping," he explained in the original post. "There's a lot more to this data that isn't shown. I don't ever match with anyone in my own state." On Tinder, you view a person's profile which contains images and basic information about them before having a conversation. If you like what you see then you swipe right, left if you don't, and if both people swipe right it's a match and the conversation can begin. Hayden's statistics also rallied corners of social media who have cited a ' male loneliness epidemic ', referring to a rising sense of loneliness among men, particularly younger in age, which is earmarked as the cause of bad mental or physical health. The online phenomena has its critics, chiefly those who point out the isolation could be brought on due to increased screen times and the fact that men are not the only demographic who feel lonely. Others have linked the social epidemic to incel culture, an online community of men who consider themselves unable to attract women sexually. This group is tied to hostility towards women both online and offline and was featured in the Netflix show Adolescence, though some have distanced male loneliness from this. ‌ Hyden's Reddit post listed that, from 2,020,459 swipes right, he had managed 2,053 matches which led to 1,269 conversations on Tinder and one date, which was unsuccessful. The profile contained prompts written by Hayden such as: "If you're not trying to go fishing, I don't want it. My idea of a vacation is going to the desert and looking for snakes for a week. I may or may not currently own 33 snakes." Words of advice and support were adding to the Reddit post, with one user writing: "Hey man, I get it—dating apps can feel hopeless, especially when you're stuck in a cycle of negativity. And I know you aren't looking for advice, but let's be real: Your profile isn't working because it's sending the wrong signals. It's 100% not because you're 'ugly' or 'unlovable.' "The good news? Your profile is easily fixed. Delete your current profile. It's time for a clean slate. Ditch the fish pics. Yeah, it's a meme, but women see 10 fish pics a day. It screams 'I have no personality beyond a tackle box.'" Men average 137 swipes per day, according to Tinder insights, compared to the women's average of 200. Hayden however, averages a mindboggling 1,953 swipes per day on the dating site.

Retirement Tax Consultants Reveals Strategy to Cut Taxes on Roth Conversions by Up to 35% Using LLC Discounts

The Best Way to Save on Roth Conversion Taxes You've Never Heard Of 'We are the bridge between your Accountant and Financial Advisor: We do what they don't'— David Hyden MCKINNEY, TX, UNITED STATES, May 12, 2025 / / -- Retirement Tax Consultants, a leading authority in retirement tax reduction planning, today announced a powerful strategy to help retirees reduce taxes on Roth IRA conversions by a minimum of 35% in the 2025 tax year. The key: applying valuation discounts to LLC interests held within IRAs. This advanced tax strategy leverages IRS-accepted valuation principles—specifically Discounts for Lack of Marketability (DLOM), Lack of Control (DLOC) and Minority Interest Discounts—to reduce the fair market value (FMV) of assets converted from a traditional IRA to a Roth IRA. By lowering the FMV of closely held LLC interests through a qualified appraisal, taxpayers can reduce the taxable income triggered during conversion. 'Roth conversions are one of the most effective long-term tax planning tools available,' says David Hyden, President and Founder of Retirement Tax Consultants. 'But the tax hit can be a barrier. By properly valuing LLC interests with legitimate discounts, retirees can convert more wealth at a lower tax cost—potentially saving hundreds of thousands of dollars.' Key Highlights of the Strategy: • Qualified Valuation Discounts: Reduces FMV of LLC interests by a minimum of 35% using DLOM, DLOC and minority interest discounts. • IRS-Compliant Approach: Strategy follows IRS Business Valuation Guidelines and relies on qualified, defensible appraisals. • Audit-Ready Documentation: Clients receive fully documented reports to support the valuation in case of IRS scrutiny. • 2025 Tax Opportunity: Applies to Roth conversions completed during the 2024 tax year, offering significant planning potential before year-end. This strategy builds on IRS guidance and legal precedents recognizing valuation discounts in estate and gift tax cases, which are now being successfully applied in Roth conversion contexts. While the approach is powerful, Retirement Tax Consultants stresses the importance of working with experienced tax professionals and certified valuation experts to ensure compliance. Hyden added, 'We have a complete Diligence Process in place to help clients understand the strategy, including IRS Revenue Rulings, relevant court cases, sample LLC Operating Agreement, LLC Valuation Report, etc. 'We believe it's important for the client to first get a Roth Analysis completed to weigh the cost of Roth conversion vs not converting. Mitigating Tax Risk in retirement is perhaps the most important component to effective planning. 'If Congress is unable to extend the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act tax rates will automatically rise beginning in 2026. I believe it would be prudent for retirees and pre-retirees to get their tax planning completed soon.' For more information or to schedule a consultation, visit or call 469-342-8889. David B. Huntsville grocery shoppers react to lowering of Grocery Tax

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Starting in September, shoppers in Alabama will pay less sales tax on their groceries. A bill to lower the Grocery Tax from 3% to 2% is on its way to Governor Kay Ivey's desk. On Thursday, News 19 stopped by a grocery store in Huntsville to see how shoppers are feeling about this news. 'It's a good thing, you know, anytime they lower the cost for consumers, I'm happy with it,' said Tim Bright. He was one of many shoppers that News 19 spoke with who seemed to be excited by the change. Bright said this may bring a little relief to his wallet, as the prices of groceries have soared. 📲 to stay updated on the go. 📧 to have news sent to your inbox. 'You get sticker shock,' he said about walking into a grocery store. 'You go to the store and you're going like 'Where have I been?'' The sales tax change comes as both the Alabama House and Senate voted earlier this week to lower the statewide Grocery Tax. The new 2% rate will go into effect on Sept. 1 if signed by Governor Kay Ivey. A spokesperson for Governor Ivey's Office did not provide News 19 with a timeline for when she will sign it into law. However, the spokesperson said, 'The bill now goes before the governor for her signature.' The non-profit, public policy group Alabama Arise showed support for the bill, saying it 'will improve life for every Alabamian.' Executive Director Robyn Hyden told News 19 that it will help families save money. 'It does mean for the average Alabama family, another $150 a year that they get to hold on to,' she said. Hyden said it is a good move, especially for lower-income and working families. 'You know, everyone has to buy food, and as a result, poor people are disproportionately taxed via these sales taxes,' Hyden said. The Alabama Legislature already lowered the Grocery Tax from 4% to 3% in 2023. However, Hyden said that Alabama Arise would like to see that percentage disappear altogether. 'We still are, you know, wanting to finally get rid of all of the state sales tax on food,' she said. Shopper Tim Bright said he wouldn't mind that either. 'Anytime they want to lower them, go ahead,' he said about the grocery tax. Food City just opened the doors of its newest north Alabama location off of Old Gurley Road in northwest Huntsville. Store Manager Michael West said he thinks his customers will appreciate the lower sales tax. 'Having that extra percentage knocked off is going to be a real saver for a lot of people,' West said.
