INSIDE MEDIA: Rick Astley passes 1 billion streams on Spotify
A video version of this article is available in the player above with vision of the interviews quoted. Rick Astley passes 1 billion If you've ever been 'Rickrolled' (and who of us hasn't), you might be interested to know the song behind the prank has reached 1 billion streams on Spotify. Never Gonna Give You Up was released in 1987 by renowned hitmakers Stock Aitken Waterman and was a number 1 hit in the UK, US and here in Australia. Around 2007, the song became something of a phenomenon when people started sending prank links to it on YouTube. A user would be told the link was for one thing, but ended up being 'Rickrolled', or taken to the song. There's no doubt the prank helped the song stay fresh in the minds of people, leading consumers to search for the song on Spotify, which eventually led to the 1 billion streams. 'So who would have believed, after all these years, Never Gonna Give You Up has had a billion streams on Spotify' Astley posted on his official TikTok account. 'How amazing. Thank you for listening and lots of love and I'll see you all soon, I hope.' What an amazing achievement. You can see his message in the video player above and, no, it won't take you to the song – I promise! Let the spin begin It's always funny when a company tries to discredit a story by trying to change the narrative. That's just what happened in regard to my exclusive story last week about I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! facing major budget cuts and its plan to pre-record for the 2026 series. On Wednesday, Pedestrian published a hit job on my reporting without attributing the original article and without including the writer's byline. Instead, it credited The PR fluff piece had obviously been given to the outlet by Channel 10, who did not want to officially confirm my reporting, but rather change the narrative. According to the gushing story, the change from live to pre-recording has nothing to do with budget cuts (heaven forbid), but more to do with the availability of big names who do not want to do the show live. As per the article: 'This change is massive,' one network insider spilled to 'Live TV has always been the dealbreaker for certain 'celebs.' Now that it's pre-recorded, a whole bunch of big names who used to say 'nah' are suddenly very interested.' It continues: Basically, removing the live element means 'celebs' don't have to stress about getting cancelled in real time and producers can flex a bit more control over the chaos. Think better editing, bigger stunts, and (hopefully) fewer awkward silences when someone gets booted. But then comes the big one, squarely taking aim at my reporting this change was made for budgetary reasons: And before anyone starts screaming 'budget cuts!', our sources are insisting this has nothing to do with Network Ten's upcoming Big Brother reboot stealing all the coins. 'If anything, this frees up resources to chase even bigger names,' the insider said. 'Think, international guests and proper A-listers, not just someone who got kicked off The Bachelor six years ago.' Why, then, did Channel 10 pre-record the finale this year, shooting three different versions and sending the entire production team home early? Obviously, that had nothing to do with budget! I can't wait to see Tom Cruise, Scarlett Johansson and other top tier talent take to the jungle in the next season, rather than a tragic bunch of nobodies. If 10 wants to change the narrative, then why not go on the record, confirm my reporting (which is correct) and make an official statement, rather than leaking to an outlet. At least we know they've already confirmed that McKnight was right! Media Watch hits out at Today It was interesting watching the hit job done by the ABC's Media Watch on Monday night against Channel 9's Today Show. The publicly funded broadcaster took issue with the fact the breakfast show dared into a commercial deal with UAE. Host Linton Besser wasn't happy with the show showing the positive tourist attractions of the country, rather than focusing on the negatives. 'The UAE is a repressive nation-state governed by an absolute monarchy whose arbitrary and fickle approach to justice and the law can create frightening risks for those who move there for work, like 28-year-old Emirates Airlines flight attendant Tori Towey, an Irish citizen who in June last year was strip searched and charged with attempting suicide after fleeing domestic violence' Besser said. All of that is true. But even though Besser declared Today had failed in 'spectacular fashion' in journalistic terms, he did have to acknowledge Nine did not hide anything from viewers. 'Despite the entire outside broadcast being funded by UAE government-backed businesses, which Nine did disclose, a spokesman for the media company told us the 'event TV' project had not been vetted by the foreign government'. OK, so what exactly is the problem here? Breakfast shows have always been a mix of news and entertainment. Sunrise certainly turned the format on its head in the 2000s when it introduced 'newstainsment' and became the number one breakfast show – a position which is still in place today. Commercial arrangements are a part of breakfast TV and there is no issue as long as those deals are made clear to the audience. Media Watch did not challenge Nine's position that the deal with UAE was disclosed. Nine and Today have never been shy about reporting on the atrocities that have taken place in the region and I don't believe this short-term deal will change that. So, Media Watch – which does not rely on commercial deals thanks to the $1.1 billion of government funding the ABC receives each year from taxpayers – thinks the show should have refused the money or done a big expose. Let's live in the real world. Commercial broadcasters are doing it tough and deals like this help them to survive. If a big story about the UAE had broken and the Today Show hadn't covered it, then Media Watch should rightly call them out. But that didn't happen. Instead, what we have here is an elitist attitude from a government-funded entity that doesn't rely on revenue to survive.

Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash behind closed doors: Parents-of-six reveal very quirky way they keep the spark alive
They have been together since 2016 after sparking up a romance on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! And Joe Swash, 43, and Stacey Solomon, 35, seem to be going from strength-to-strength as their new reality show broadcasts the ins and outs of their family life. The couple share children Rex, five, Rose, three, and Belle, two, while Stacey is mum to sons Zachary, 17, and Leighton, 12, from two previous relationships, and Joe also has a son Harry, 16, with his ex-partner. But after nearly a decade together and six children between them, Stacey and Joe revealed they are still very good at keeping the spark alive. Stacey previously gushed to the BBC that her favourite thing about her husband is his compassion and his ability to give himself so freely to her was 'so magic'. Stacey's key to keeping the spark alive Stacey candidly confessed that her love life was better than ever in 2018 because the couple get intimate in front of the TV. During an appearance on Loose Women, the former X Factor star sent ITV viewers into hysterics with her frank admission on the chat show. Co-host Janet Street-Porter declared: 'Never have a television in the bedroom because you obviously don't want any kind of sex life if you want a telly in there.' Stacey retorted: 'Excuse me, my sex life is wonderful... and I get to watch my favourite films at the same time!' Chuckling to herself, Janet said: 'I'm just getting over that image of you, Joe and a 70 inch TV in there with loads of clothes around you.' Racy confessions In 2020, Stacey and Joe made a racy confession in a hilarious game of Mr and Mrs. The couple both appear on Iain Stirling's CelebAbility, where the host persuades them to reveal all. The show's captain Stacey and guest Joe joked about their sex life during one very honest round, as they debate who is kinkiest in bed. After Iain asked the pair who is the kinkiest in their relationship, there's no hesitation as both Stacey and Joe raise paddles to indicate Joe. 'I just like normal,' giggled Stacey, prompting her partner to quip: 'I'd just like to have some at the minute.' Stacey candidly confessed that her love life was better than ever in 2018 because the couple have sex in front of the TV, she said: 'My sex life is wonderful and I get to watch my favourite films at the same time!' In 2020, Stacey and Joe made a racy confession in a hilarious game of Mr and Mrs as they debate who is kinkiest in bed Faking it Stacey was left red faced and cringing after admitting to faking orgasms with Joe in 2017. The TV star couldn't hide her embarrassment on Loose Women as she confessed to pretending to climax during her love-making sessions with the former EastEnders star. Stacey was left in a tricky situation when asked the question by a guest panel of men - including Joel Dommett and Joey Essex - leaving her blushing as she replied: 'Yeah, I have. Not because I need to, it's just sometimes there's so much to do!' Unable to hide her awkwardness, Stacey explained herself: 'I think it's okay to do it. 'What he is doing would probably get me there eventually, but I just don't have the time!' she revealed to a the line-up who couldn't contain their laughter. The mum-of-five then confessed she doesn't do it often as she enjoys the post-orgasm glow, saying: 'It does make you feel good. I can imagine going into a meeting a few hours later with a spring in my step.' She admitted to sometimes feeling 'disappointed' if she doesn't climax after all the prep to look and feel her sexiest. 'By the time you get together and you've found the time to get intimate I'd be miffed. I got naked, shaved my legs and all for nothing. I'd be disappointed if I didn't (have an orgasm). I'd think, 'I've done all that and for what?'' Clearly not a fan of her explanation, comedian Joel replied: 'I think this is terrible. Obviously people do it for their own reasons, but I don't think it helps anybody. Nobody is learning! 'If something happens and you fake it, we're like, 'Oh, she really likes it when we do that!'' he stated. Stacey embraces the natural look During lockdown, Stacey went public about her bedroom antics proudly confessing she's now embraced the body fuzz - and so has her fella. Speaking to Fabulous at the time, she declared: 'In the '70s it was all about the bush. Luckily, Joe loves the bush, so that's OK!' Stacey bravely spoke out against the trolls after getting flak for her 'hairy' arms and firing back at keyboard warriors for their beauty standards. She said: 'I'm not ashamed of my body hair, people being disgusted by it is ridiculous because it's obviously meant to be there! When did people start getting offended by it?' Calorie burning Whether she's faking it or not, Stacey and Joe's romps could very well be the perfect way to shed those pounds, as the stunner said she was convinced she burns a whopping 1,000 calories during a single session. During an appearance on Loose Women, fellow presenter Kaye Adams, 62, cranked up the audience when she revealed that Weight Watchers was adding fit points for getting frisky in the name of losing weight. While the other panelists were blushing, Kaye and Stacey didn't hold back from spilling the secrets of raunchy escapades. Stacey quipped: 'Do you know what, Kaye, I am like you, and I still feel like I burn 1,000 calories! ''God, I am working hard! I do! I am pretty sure I could have a whole Mars bar after! ' she said in stitches. Making her feel good Last year, Joe attempted to spice of his and Stacey relationship during a holiday to Jamaica as he bought the TV star a tiny red bikini to wear. The Loose Women star took to her Instagram Stories at the time to share a video of her in the new swimwear, while hiding her body behind a towel. Joe stood behind her shirtless while brushing his teeth as Stacey told her followers that he had clearly bought the skimpy two-piece for himself. She explained: 'So Joe bought "me" a Christmas present, which was a new bikini' as Joe chimed in: 'Lovely bikini!' Stacey insisted: 'He definitely bought it for himself' as Joe was quick to deny: 'I didn't!' Stacey then joked the bikini looked like Pamela Anderson's, who regularly sports skimpy swimwear pieces, including her famous Baywatch swimsuit. Stacey quipped: 'It looks like you've robbed Pamela Anderson's wardrobe!' The pair burst into laughter and Joe then encouraged: 'Come on show everyone!' The Loose Women star took to her Instagram Stories at the time to share a video of her in the new skimpy swimwear, while hiding her body behind a towel The couple share children Rex, five, Rose, three, and Belle, two, while Stacey is mum to sons Zachary, 17, and Leighton, 12, from two previous relationships, and Joe also has a son Harry, 16, with his ex-partner Stacey shot back: 'I don't know if I can Joe! All I'll say is, he'll be lucky if this bikini hasn't been swallowed whole before the end.' Joe laughed as he joked: 'It cost me 15 quid. She's got five quid up her bum!' Their two-year-old daughter Rose came over to see what was going on and Stacey said to her: 'Rosie what is your daddy like?' She then added: 'It's lovely but I don't know if I can wear this'. Joe said: 'Stop teasing them, show them what you've got!' but Stacey shut him down straight away, yelling: 'No!'
