The Arizona Department of Transportation has scheduled several freeway improvement projects that will affect drivers on Interstate 10, Interstate 17 and State Route 143. Two major freeway closures are scheduled to occur this weekend. Both interstates 10 and 17 have miles-long closures expected to take place that will affect traffic, and both involve pavement work. The Arizona Department of Transportation urged motorists to allow for extra travel time and to drive on the primary detours. Drivers should also double check the timing of the closures, as some only last two days. For real-time highway conditions, drivers should check the az511 app or call 511. Here are the freeway closures for this weekend (Feb. 21-24). The closure begins 7 p.m. Saturday and will last until 4 a.m. Monday. The closure will allow for pavement maintenance as part of the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project.
