Mideast emerges as global business events powerhouse: report

Investment, ambition and diversification are at the heart of the Middle East's flourishing business events market, reveals the latest Regional Trends Report from IBTM World. Projecting the region as 'one to watch', the much-anticipated report, unveiled at day three of Arabian Travel Market, takes a deep dive into the growing power of this fast-emerging business events destination in the global MICE industry. From renewables to fintech and telecoms to space travel, growth is being nurtured in both new and existing industries, with businesses and brands in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar at the forefront of this. As business grows, infrastructure is being built at breakneck speed to house the many meetings and events needed to support it. Talent from around the world is also following suit, with a new business or venue, as well as new infrastructure, opening every day in the Middle East. Alongside geo-adapted supply chains and a culturally creative offering, this is why some of the most impressive event brands in the world are making the thriving region their home. Written by Managing Director of Eight PR & Marketing, Alistair Turner, the inaugural report also sheds light on the return of face-to-face events in the Middle East. In a business culture where in-person interactions are highly valued, around 70 per cent of meetings in the region now take place face-to-face, with just 30 per cent happening virtually or in a hybrid format. Claudia Hall, IBTM World Exhibition Director, said: 'As the Middle East continues to entice event planners with evermore innovative and exciting opportunities, we're delighted to be able to provide event professionals with a snapshot of this exhilarating, dynamic and thriving region. It's important event professionals understand the landscape they're operating in, and this report does just that – giving them the knowledge and context they need to navigate everything the pioneering Middle Eastern events sector has to offer, and the contribution it can make to a flourishing business events industry of the future.' -TradeArabia News Service Copyright 2024 Al Hilal Publishing and Marketing Group Provided by SyndiGate Media Inc. New in Events from IBTM World returns for second series

New in Events, a podcast from IBTM World, has returned for a much anticipated second season with Shonali Devereaux as its new host. Designed to inspire and support IBTM's community of event professionals year-round with fresh insights, practical advice and innovative ways of working, series two of the podcast will feature ten fortnightly episodes, which run until the summer. With a line-up of leading spokespeople from both inside and outside of the industry, New in Events will explore topics such as preventing professional burnout, crafting compelling stories through events, and how to promote inclusivity and accessibility. In each 30-minute episode, Shonali chats with a headline interviewee before bringing listeners conversational highlights recorded in the podcast booth during IBTM World in Barcelona last year. The thought-provoking content is intended to inspire people to think more about the industry they're working in and the people they're working alongside. In the first episode of this new season, Shonali talks with Mike Ford, Owner of Grateful Lemon, who shares powerful insights on burnout and how events professionals should approach stress, recovery and sleep. From the show floor at IBTM World 2024, we hear from Bo Krüger, speaker and meetings designer at Moving Minds. Bo reveals how stress can be a creative force when harnessed with a 'yes and' mindset, inspiring innovation like never before. Host Shonali Devereaux commented: 'I can't wait for everyone to hear the amazing conversations we've recorded for this new series. Each one is so full of insights and fascinating takeaways that I urge anyone working in the meetings and events industry to stream the first episode of Season Two today and to give New In Events a follow so that you never miss an episode.' Claudia Hall, Exhibition Director at IBTM World, said: 'Podcasts are the media of choice for so many people, and we're incredibly proud to be bringing exceptional conversations and insights to our audience of global events professionals beyond the IBTM World stages.' Episode One and Two of New In Events Season Two is available now via all good podcast channels, including Spotify and Amazon Music. The Executive Producer is Mike Fletcher.
