Odisha Guv lauds IIT, IISER Tirupati for a decade of excellence & innovation
Tirupati: Governor of Odisha Dr Kambhampati Hari Babu visited Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Tirupati and Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Tirupati on Monday. The visit marked a moment of reflection on the progress of two premier institutions that have emerged as academic and research leaders over the past decade. At IIT Tirupati, Dr Hari Babu was welcomed by Director Prof KN Satyanarayana, who presented a detailed overview of the institute's growth through a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation. The Governor interacted with Deans and Heads of Departments, acknowledging the strides made by the institute in academics, research, and infrastructure. Reflecting on his role in the establishment of these institutions during his tenure as a Member of Parliament, Dr Hari Babu expressed his satisfaction, saying that it was heartening to see the institutions that were sanctioned during his tenure now thriving and contributing meaningfully to the country's higher education landscape. He offered several valuable suggestions to further strengthen the institute's impact, including the effective implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, timely resolution of cases under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women at the Workplace (POSH), introduction of more industry-aligned skill development courses, and promotion of environmental sustainability. Joint Collector of Tirupati District, Shubham Bansal, and other officials were also present during the visit. Later in the day, the Governor proceeded to IISER Tirupati, where he was welcomed by Director Prof Santanu Bhattacharya and incharge Registrar Inderpreet Singh Kohli. A detailed presentation highlighted the institute's decade-long journey, emphasising its research milestones, educational innovation, and eco-friendly infrastructure. In his address, the Governor applauded IISER Tirupati's commitment to scientific excellence and sustainability. He expressed his profound appreciation for the institute's state-of-the-art infrastructure and particularly commended the sustainable features integrated into the campus, recognising them as a benchmark for modern educational institutions. The Governor's visit to these institutions is part of a broader initiative to assess and understand the evolution of higher education across the country.

IISER Tirupati to hold 6th convocation, 255 students to graduate
Tirupati: The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Tirupati will celebrate its sixth convocation on Tuesday, with 255 students graduating across various academic programmes. In the run-up to the ceremony, IISER Tirupati Director Prof Santanu Bhattacharya addressed the media on Sunday, highlighting the institute's significant achievements and rapid progress since its inception a decade ago. Established in 2015 with a single BS-MS programme, the institute has since expanded into a broad spectrum of academic offerings. These include Integrated PhD and Post-Doctoral Research programmes. This year, the institute is introducing a new four-year BSc in Economics and Statistical Sciences (BS-ESS) and a two-year MS (Masters by Research) programme, signalling a step further in its commitment to interdisciplinary education and research. Prof Bhattacharya noted the institute's growing academic footprint, pointing to its current H-index of 57, with over 17,000 cumulative citations of research publications. He also reported a substantial increase in extramural research funding, which doubled over the previous year to reach Rs 29.43 crore. Several faculty members have received prestigious accolades, including the RSC-ChemComm's Pioneering Investigators recognition, the DAAD Experienced Researcher Award, and the ASEAN-India R&D Project. Among its most notable recent accomplishments, Dr Chitrasen Jena from IISER Tirupati was part of the team awarded the 2025 Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics, one of the most prestigious global science honours. Also, eight faculty members from the institute have been named in the top 2% of the world's most influential scientists, according to a global database compiled by Stanford University. The director also underlined the institute's growing international profile through strategic collaborations. Partnerships have been forged with leading global institutions such as the University of Melbourne, Heidelberg University, and the University of Cologne. IISER Tirupati is also participating in the Future Research Talent (FRT) programme in collaboration with the Australian National University (ANU). Prof Bhattacharya stated that the institute is now fully operational, with major infrastructure completed, and further expansion is on the horizon with the backing of the Ministry of Education and the Government of Andhra Pradesh.

Tirupati: Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER Tirupati) is is all set to conduct its sixth convocation on Tuesday (Aug 5) along with its tenth year of inception. The institute started in 2015 with only a BS-MS program, and rapidly expanded to offer a number of programs like Integrated PhD, PhD, hosts Post-Doctoral Research Fellows. It is also currently offering a four-year Bachelor of Science in Economics and Statistical Sciences (BS-ESS) and a two-year MS (Masters by Research) progra starting August 2025. A total of 255 students will be graduating this year across various programmes, which include 22 from PhD, 8 from I-PhD, 3 from MS, 141 from BS-MS, 69 from professional Master's, six from BS and six from BSc. Interacting with the media ahead of the convocation here on Sunday, IISER Director Santanu Bhattacharya said the institute's h-index currently stood at 57, with cumulative citations of 17,256. Nature Index 2025 ranked IISER Tirupati 33rd among academic institutions in India. "IISER Tirupati has strengthened its international ties with Heidelberg University and the University of Cologne, while we are soon launching an academic program with University of Melbourne", Dr. Bhattacharya said. The national institute has also tied up with the University of Buffalo, USA and Australian National University (ANU), thus creating a plethora of opportunities for its students. Similarly, the extramural research funding doubled from the previous year, touching 29.43 crore. IISER Aptitude Test Result 2025: The results for Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Aptitude Test (IAT) 2025 is declared. Candidates who appeared for the IISER admission test can now check the IAT 2025 result at IISER Tirupati was the conducting body this year. The entrance test will be held on May 25. IAT 2025 scores will be used for admission to the five-year BS-MS (dual degree) and four-year BS degree programmes at IISER Berhampur, IISER Bhopal, IISER Kolkata, IISER Mohali, IISER Pune, IISER Thiruvananthapuram and IISER Tirupati. Students admitted to the IISERs can pursue their BS-MS/ BS/ BTech programmes in Natural Sciences/ Engineering / Computational and Data Sciences/ Economic Sciences/ Economic and Statistical Sciences. Candidates will be able to access their IAT results 2025 using their registration ID and password. Candidates are required to make a preference list from among these 11 programmes that the candidate wants to be considered for admission. The preference order must be from the most preferred (first preference) to the least preferred (last preference). The preference list must contain at least one IISER programme. A candidate will be considered only for those IISER programs which are on the candidate's preference list. Consequently, a candidate will not be considered for admission to an IISER programme that is not mentioned in the candidate's preference list.
