The classic vehicle was recently rediscovered after a car expert received a 'tip off' about its existence. They found the Porsche in a sorry state with all its silver paintwork peeled off. It has since undergone an extensive restoration and has now been shipped over to England to be sold in Iconic Auctioneers' forthcoming Silverstone sale. Advertisement The engine and gearbox have been stripped out and rebuilt so the car is roadworthy and has been driven recently. As the carpets and seat coverings were beyond preservation, they were replaced with aged leather. But the left-hand drive Porsche retains its original dashboard, steering wheel and gauges. An Iconic Auctioneers spokesperson said: "Following a tip-off, this early 356 Speedster was uncovered at a smallholding in Ohio, where it had reportedly remained with the same family for over 70 years. Advertisement "The engine was disassembled and remarkably, only required new piston rings before being fully inspected and reassembled. "The matching gearbox was similarly stripped, checked and rebuilt, while the fuel system was recommissioned, retaining the original fuel tank with its attractive patination. Ultra-rare 'prettiest' Ferrari kept under wraps for over a decade is set to fetch an eye-watering sum at auction "Externally, every effort was made to preserve the integrity of the original early 356 body. "It is understood that the Speedster was in regular use only until 1962, covering approximately 60,000 miles before being laid to rest in the barn where it was later discovered. Advertisement "At some point early in its life, possibly by the supplying dealership, it was repainted silver, traces of which remain visible on the bodywork today. "We are informed that the Speedster performs exceptionally well, idling smoothly with no smoke and having completed various trips without issue. "This is a rare opportunity to acquire an exceptionally well preserved Pre-A 356 Speedster, a model highly regarded for its purity and iconic design. "From the few Pre-A Speedsters that do make it to market, it is very rare to see a survivor car as many are now restored." Queen Elizabeth's supercharged Range Rover goes under the hammer

A 2006 Range Rover once owned by the late Queen Elizabeth II is headed to auction later this month — and it's expected to fetch up to R1.67m. Delivered to Her Majesty on April 25 2006 by Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations division under Contract 41478, this L322-generation Vogue SE was finished in Tonga Green with a Sand Oxford leather interior, extended Burr Walnut trim and clear glass. It's believed to be the only supercharged L322 Range Rover ever commissioned for the royal household. Under the bonnet is a Jaguar-derived 4.2 l supercharged V8 producing 294kW and 560Nm. In addition to its royal provenance, the luxury SUV boasts a host of unique features including side steps, mud flaps, a load-space mat, rear grab handles for easier access and dog guards for the Queen's famous corgis. There's also upgraded internal wiring for communication and security equipment, dual rear window switches and a silver bonnet ornament depicting a Labrador carrying a pheasant. The unique bonnet ornament adds to the allure. Image: Iconic Auctioneers The Range Rover was decommissioned and released into public ownership in 2008, after just over two years of royal service. It has since covered just under 193,121km and is said to be in impressive condition. According to the listing, the bodywork is solid with none of the typical corrosion found on older L322s, especially around the rear arches and tailgate. It will be sold freshly serviced, with a recent paint correction detail and brand-new, period-correct Pirelli Scorpion tyres. The vehicle is accompanied by its original blue leather wallet, complete with handbooks and a comprehensive service history file, including maintenance invoices. It will be offered at Iconic Auctioneers' Silverstone Festival sale on August 23, for an estimated price of between £50,000 (R1.2m) and £70,000 (R1.7m).
