5,000 youth entrepreneurs to benefit

NABAWAN: The Chief Minister's Outreach Programme with non-governmental organisation (NGO) and young entrepreneurs is expected to benefit some 5,000 youth entrepreneurs by the end of June. Chief Minister's Department's Government and People Cooperation Institute (Ikrar) Director Azrul Ibrahim said since its launch in 2022, some 4,100 young entrepreneurs had received RM500 each in start-up capital to help kick-start or expand their small businesses. He said the programme was inspired by the Chief Minister's vision to ensure that the majority of young entrepreneurs operating small-scale businesses in rural and suburban areas receive support and assistance from the State Government. 'As of now 4,100 entrepreneurs, including in Nabawan, have received the aid, and we are targeting 5,000 recipients by the end of June,' he said when met during the Chief Minister's Outreach Programme with NGOs and Young Entrepreneurs at the Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) on Monday. Also present were Nabawan Community Development Leader Deckson Andipai, Gagasan Rakyat Nabawan Youth Chief Ag Azuan Pg Hamzah and local community leaders. The programme was officiated by Nabawan Assemblyman Datuk Ghani Mohamad Yassin. Advertisement A total of 100 young entrepreneurs from the district received the aid during the event. Masidi engages 500 students at forum

Kota Kinabalu: More than 500 students attended the Destinasi SMJ Anak Muda 2.0 forum at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Saturday, where State Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun addressed their concerns and ideas about Sabah's future. Organised by the Institut Kerjasama Kerajaan dan Rakyat (Ikrar), the event provided a platform for students to discuss pressing issues such as UMS's water supply, Sabah's economic direction and student welfare and job opportunities. The forum was moderated by Ikrar Director Azrul Ibrahim. In his speech, Masidi pointed out the Government's commitment to addressing youth concerns. 'We are listening. The concerns of our youths, whether it is water, education, or job opportunities, are not falling on deaf ears. The Government is committed to real, tangible solutions. 'The energy and ideas shared today reaffirm my belief that Sabah is in good hands. Our youths are not just the leaders of tomorrow, they are already playing their crucial roles today,' he said. Sabah government prioritises youth concerns
KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government is committed to ensuring that young Sabahans' voices are heard and their concerns addressed through meaningful action, says state Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun. Speaking at the 'Destinasi SMJ Anak Muda 2.0' forum at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) on Saturday (May 24), he told over 500 students that their issues are not being ignored, especially when it comes to education, job opportunities, and basic infrastructure, "We are listening. The concerns of our youth, whether about water, education, or job opportunities, are not falling on deaf ears. The government is committed to delivering real, tangible solutions," he said. He said that the government values youth perspectives and is serious about implementing policies that directly benefit younger generations. The open dialogue is organised by the Institut Kerjasama Kerajaan dan Rakyat (Ikrar) under the Chief Minister's Department and provided a platform for students to express concerns and share ideas on development matters. Among the topics raised were water supply issues on campus, Sabah's economic direction, student welfare, and the evolving job market.
