Cardi B's New Single Shoots Right To No. 1
This Friday (August 15), the hottest new song in America is Cardi B's latest single, 'Imaginary Playerz.' The rapper returns to the highest tier on the iTunes Top Songs chart as fans are clearly excited for new music from one of the most successful women in the history of hip-hop. Impressively, 'Imaginary Playerz' doesn't just become a bestseller — it manages to do so several times over. At the outset of a brand new tracking frame, 'Imaginary Playerz' stands out as the bestselling new release, and Cardi's following is purchasing multiple takes of the same tune. 'Imaginary Playerz' Launches at No. 1 As of the time of writing, Cardi's latest single opens at No. 1 on the iTunes ranking in the U.S. Two versions of 'Imaginary Playerz' appear within the top 10 on the iTunes Top Songs chart in America. One take leads the charge, while another is down at No. 6. A third even appears just inside the top 40 region, where it is currently placed at No. 37. Old Dominion, Waylon Jennings and Russell Dickerson Seven of the spaces inside the top 10 on the iTunes Top Songs chart are occupied by brand new releases – two of which are Cardi's latest. The hip-hop powerhouse beats new tracks from country stars like Old Dominion, Waylon Jennings and Russell Dickerson, as well as rock groups I Prevail and Yellowcard, all of which launch new singles toward the top of the tally. 'Imaginary Playerz' Helps Cardi B's Back Catalog The debut of 'Imaginary Playerz' is having a positive effect on Cardi's back catalog, as several previous smashes return to the iTunes Top Songs chart. Her most recent single before 'Imaginary Playerz,' 'Outside,' reenters the ranking at No. 86. Previous cuts from several years back — 'Up' and 'WAP,' her collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion — also find their way to the list of the top-selling tunes on iTunes in the U.S., landing at Nos. 102 and 153, respectively. Cardi B's New Album Am I the Drama? Arrives in a Month In about a month, Cardi will release her sophomore album Am I the Drama?, which follows her breakout project Invasion of Privacy by seven years. Throughout that time, Cardi has released many singles, but only a handful are set to be featured on the forthcoming full-length. All four tracks that just jumped onto iTunes will be included on the tracklist, while other tunes that have enjoyed some commercial success in the past few years — such as 'Enough (Miami),' 'Bongos' with Stallion, 'Please Me' with Bruno Mars, and others — may be left off entirely.

The Grammy-winning rapper released the second single from her upcoming album Am I the Drama? at midnight on Thursday with a new accompanying—and very flashy—music video. The track titled 'Imaginary Playerz' (which samples the 1997 Jay Z song of the same name) is a total ode to the world of high fashion complete with shady zingers that could only come courtesy of Cardi herself. The song's visual even incorporated some of the show-stopping couture outfits that the star wore during her most recent stint at Paris Fashion week earlier this year, and provides fans a closer look at all that goes into being a reigning fashion queen. Throughout the three-and-a-half-minute visual we see Cardi B wear a number of looks from famed couture houses including Schiaparelli and Rahul Mishra while reminding us all that we could never be on her level. 'I got the hottest s—t, hop out, poppin' it / They say I walk around lookin' like a compliment / Shut up, stop whinin', Cardi still shinin',' she raps on the song, speaking directly to her critics and haters. 'H—s kept complainin', so I copped more diamonds and more archive, vintage couture on me / I got more Gaultier than Jean probably.' Cardi ensured the single art for the new song also stayed on theme. The rapper wore a sweeping, vintage white fur coat with fresh off the runway platform boots from Marc Jacobs. 'I was wondering who would be the first to wear these boots 🤍,' the designer commented on Cardi B's Instagram post, giving his official stamp of approval. For now, the official visual for 'Imaginary Playerz' should feed Cardi's "Bardi Gang" until the official release of Am I the Drama? on September 19. We have a feeling more memorable fashion moments are on the way. The rapper, 32, dropped a new single, "Imaginary Playerz," and an accompanying music video Friday. The song samples Jay-Z and appears on Cardi B's upcoming album, Am I the Drama? Her album arrives Sept. 19 and is now available for pre-order. The cover shows Cardi B in a red ensemble, complete with red platform heels and fishnets. Ravens swirl around her and dark clouds appear in the background. The music video released Friday shows the star in New York, Mykonos and Paris. She wears gowns and diamonds and refers to being on the cover of Vogue in 2019. Cardi B also released a clean version of her song Friday. Cardi B drops '90s-inspired 'Imaginary Playerz' with JAY-Z sample clearance ahead of new album release

Cardi B has unleashed Imaginary Playerz, the second single from her long-awaited second studio album Am I The Drama?. Boasting a sample of Jay-Z's 1997 classic Imaginary Player, the tune was produced by DJ SwanQo, Sean Island, and OctaneThisThatGas, and is a swagger-soaked anthem that doubles down on Cardi's signature bravado. Telling fans about getting the music mogul's seal of approval, Cardi spilled on X Space this week: 'I was so happy because you guys understand, the song is kinda long… This song is like a staple for me and I had to get it approved by the one and only. 'It's a very hip-hop record and I hope you guys enjoy it.' It arrives with a cinematic companion video co-directed by Cardi herself alongside longtime creative partner Patience Foster. Through her joint venture, she's already sold out multiple limited-edition merch box sets, including a headline-grabbing WWE collaboration. The newly launched Imaginary Playerz box set and alternate album cover art are available now - but only in limited quantities at The WWE tie-in isn't just for show.
