Jennifer Hudson Seemingly Didn't Listen To A Word Eddie Murphy Said In A Recent Interview, And People Are Aghast

On Thursday, Eddie Murphy revealed that his son Eric had secretly married Martin Lawrence's daughter Jasmin after four years of dating. For reference, Eddie and Martin are good friends and even starred in two movies together back in the '90s, but Jasmin previously said that she didn't meet her now-husband through their famous fathers. She told InTouch Weekly back in 2022: 'My uncle actually introduced us — it wasn't even our dads, and they've done two movies together. They're friends. I don't even know, it's crazy, but we met through my uncle, and, you know, we became really good friends." 'Obviously, we have similar backgrounds, so we understood each other on a certain level, and, over time, it just became more,' she added at the time. The two got engaged in November 2024, and during his recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Eddie revealed that the lovebirds had blindsided them all by sneaking off to get married in private. Alluding to Eddie's talent as a singer, Jennifer started off by asking: 'Are you going to sing at your son's… Or is it your daughter's wedding, right?' Clarifying that it was, in fact, his son, Eddie replied: 'Actually, they got married, like, two weeks ago. They went off. Everybody was making the big wedding plans, then they decided they wanted to do something quiet, just the two of them, and they got married.' But Jennifer didn't appear to pay any attention, saying in response: 'Uh oh! Did you sing at the wedding, Eddie?' 'No, they didn't have a wedding!' Eddie explained again, to which Jennifer replied: 'Oh no?' 'No, they went off and got married in the church; they just had the two of them and the preacher. They had a quiet little thing,' Eddie repeated, before adding: 'I think we'll have a big party or something, they ran off and got married.' 'OK,' Jennifer said. 'Will you sing then?' 'Will I sing at the wedding?! No!' Eddie then exclaimed. Sharing a video of this exchange to X, a viral tweet called out Jennifer's interviewing skills, writing: 'The man said they went off just the two of them went off and got married, she's gonna then ask him 'did you sing at the wedding'. Baby, pay attention omg.' Fox via X @TheShadeRoom / Via At the time of writing, this tweet has been seen more than two million times, and racked up tens of thousands of likes, retweets, and replies. And one of the most popular replies reads: 'she doesn't listen to a single thing people say.' 'Girl ain't listening to even one word!! She has her marks to hit and she gone hit them,' somebody else wrote. While another tweeted: 'She asked him THREE times are you going to sing. WOMAN THEY ARE ALREADY MARRIED MY GOD.' 'You can really tell she has a list of questions and is not listening to people's answers,' one more claimed, and someone else agreed: 'That's the difference between a journalist and a celebrity with a talk show.' Others had a similar reaction to the original video, with one writing: 'he said multiple times they didnt have a wedding and she keeps askin if he went 😂' 'she didnt pay not nah attention to what he said asking stupid questions after the man JUST said they eloped,' someone else echoed. Another pointed out: 'Not only did she still ask about him singing, even though he had just said the two married alone, she didn't even know if it was Eddie's son or daughter." Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence are officially in-laws after their kids marry

Comedy royalty Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence have officially merged their entertainment dynasties. Murphy confirmed in an interview on Thursday's episode of "The Jennifer Hudson Show" that his son, Eric Murphy, and Lawrence's daughter, Jasmin Lawrence, "ran off and got married." "Actually they got married two weeks ago," Murphy revealed. "They went off — everybody was making their big wedding plans, and then they decided they wanted to do something quiet with just the two of them." Eddie Murphy then joked that his "Life" and "Boomerang" co-star doesn't have "to pay for the big wedding now." It's unclear if the newlyweds were aware that Murphy would be mentioning that they got hitched on national television. Neither Eric Murphy, 35, nor Jasmin Lawrence, 29, posted about the private ceremony on their social media accounts. The couple announced their engagement on Instagram in November, posting video from the candlelit proposal. Although the pair opted for a private ceremony, Eddie Murphy told Hudson that they planned on throwing a "big party" to honor the newlyweds. The couple started dating in 2021, Lawrence told InTouch Weekly in an interview the following year. They met through her uncle, not their famous dads, she said. 'It wasn't even our dads, and they've done two movies together,' she told InTouch. 'They're friends. I don't even know. It's crazy. But we met through my uncle, and we became really good friends. We bonded on a lot of things. Obviously, we have similar backgrounds, so we understood each other on a certain level.'
