Hospital In UP's Ballia Treats Patients Under Torchlight After Power Backup Fails

A video showed patients treated in torchlight at Ballia hospital due to a power outage and generator glitch. The issue is now resolved with inverters.
Following a viral video showing patients being treated under torchlight in the emergency room of Ballia district hospital, health department officials revealed the incident was caused by a power outage combined with a generator malfunction.
Dr. S K Yadav, Chief Medical Superintendent of Ballia district hospital, told PTI Bhasha that the power supply in the area was disrupted on Friday evening, and the hospital's generator experienced technical problems, resulting in a 45-minute outage.
Yadav mentioned that someone likely captured the situation on video and posted it online, leading to its viral spread on Saturday.

In response to the issue, the emergency medical room has now been equipped with an adequate number of inverters to ensure efficiency and prevent future occurrences.
Earlier in June, a huge uproar occurred due to a power outage in Hardoi's district hospital. The opposition targeted the Yogi government for the lapse. The power cut was widespread and all the basic cooling facilities were hampered due to it.
Congress highlighted the situation and posted on X (formerly Twitter), 'Look at the condition of Hardoi Medical College in UP. There is no electricity in the ward, patients and their attendants are suffering from heat and are forced to swing their bedding. This is the truth of the 4 trillion economy. Where crores were spent on publicity, but not even a smidge of work was done on the ground. The public is suffering, leader eating mushrooms."
Amar Ujala reported, more than 2,000 prescriptions are issued daily at the OPD, where four ACs have been installed, but only two were working.
