Hospital In UP's Ballia Treats Patients Under Torchlight After Power Backup Fails
A video showed patients treated in torchlight at Ballia hospital due to a power outage and generator glitch. The issue is now resolved with inverters.
Following a viral video showing patients being treated under torchlight in the emergency room of Ballia district hospital, health department officials revealed the incident was caused by a power outage combined with a generator malfunction.
Dr. S K Yadav, Chief Medical Superintendent of Ballia district hospital, told PTI Bhasha that the power supply in the area was disrupted on Friday evening, and the hospital's generator experienced technical problems, resulting in a 45-minute outage.
Yadav mentioned that someone likely captured the situation on video and posted it online, leading to its viral spread on Saturday.

In response to the issue, the emergency medical room has now been equipped with an adequate number of inverters to ensure efficiency and prevent future occurrences.
Earlier in June, a huge uproar occurred due to a power outage in Hardoi's district hospital. The opposition targeted the Yogi government for the lapse. The power cut was widespread and all the basic cooling facilities were hampered due to it.
Congress highlighted the situation and posted on X (formerly Twitter), 'Look at the condition of Hardoi Medical College in UP. There is no electricity in the ward, patients and their attendants are suffering from heat and are forced to swing their bedding. This is the truth of the 4 trillion economy. Where crores were spent on publicity, but not even a smidge of work was done on the ground. The public is suffering, leader eating mushrooms."
Amar Ujala reported, more than 2,000 prescriptions are issued daily at the OPD, where four ACs have been installed, but only two were working.

Andhra Pradesh Health Minister calls for Indianisation of industry
Minister for Medical and Health Satya Kumar Yadav has emphasised the need for 'Indianisation' of the industry, calling for the reflection of Indian philosophy and thought in the products and services offered by Indian enterprises. Speaking at the valedictory session of the 70th anniversary celebrations of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) — the trade union arm of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) — here on Sunday, Mr. Yadav recalled the Sangh's slogan 'Desa Hitham, Parisrama Hitham, Karmika Hitham', which translates to the well-being of the nation, the industry, and the worker. He said Indian industries must strive to meet global standards while remaining rooted in national values and sought the cooperation of 'right-thinking workers' to realise this vision. He also urged workers to support the smooth functioning and growth of industries. Adulterated cooking oil Meanwhile, the BJP's Tirupati unit submitted a memorandum to the Minister, demanding action to curb the rampant sale of adulterated cooking oil in the temple city, which it said posed a serious threat to public health. District BJP president Samanchi Srinivas, in the memorandum, alleged that unlabelled and fake brands of cooking oil were being sold without any quality checks, particularly in areas with a high floating population and concentration of street food vendors — such as Indira Priyadarshini market, Bairagipatteda, Tirupati railway station, and Renigunta bus station. He warned that consumption of such oil could leasd to gastric irritation, indigestion, heart ailments, liver disorders, and even cancer. Mr. Srinivas also criticised the inaction surrounding the Food Safety on Wheels vehicle, allotted to the district under a Union government initiative in 2023. The mobile testing unit, meant to monitor food safety standards, continues to lie unused and idle at the Collectorate complex, he lamented.

Manhattan Shooter Blamed CTE For Rampage: What Is It? Why Is It Common Among NFL Players?
Last Updated: CTE is a progressive, degenerative brain condition linked to repeated head trauma, especially in contact sports and military service News18 The man who killed four people in a rampage with a rifle on July 28 through a Midtown Manhattan office building was carrying a note that appeared to blame the National Football League for his Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative brain disease, New York Mayor Eric Adams said. Police have identified the shooter as Shane Tamura, a 27-year-old Las Vegas resident with a history of mental illness struggles, who ended the massacre by shooting himself in the chest on the 33rd floor of a Park Avenue office tower. The NFL has its headquarters in the skyscraper, but Tamura apparently entered the wrong elevator bank and ended up in the offices of Rudin Management, a real estate company, where he shot employees, the mayor said. 'The note alluded to that he felt he had CTE, a known brain injur y for those who participate in contact sports," Adams told CBS News. 'He appeared to have blamed the NFL for his injury."
