Amid ongoing tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad, a mock drill will be conducted on Thursday evening in the states bordering Pakistan -- Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Jammu and Kashmir -- which came under heavy attack from across the border during the recently concluded four-day conflict. People will be instructed to stay alert during the drill, sources informed India Today primary objectives of a mock drill include testing the operationality of control rooms and air raid warning systems. It also assesses the effectiveness of civil defence services, such as warden services, firefighting, rescue operations, depot management, and the preparation of evacuation development comes weeks after the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) conducted Operation Abhyas -- a nationwide mock drill -- on May 7, hours before India launched Operation Sindoor. Kaveri engine trials underway in Russia, to power Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), India's premier defence research agency, is carrying out trials of the indigenously developed Kaveri jet engine in Russia and is planning to use it for powering the Made in India long-range Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV).The Kaveri engine is undergoing detailed trials in Russia and there are around 25 hours of testing left to be done on it. The slots have to be given by the authorities, defence officials informed India Today engine is planned to be used for powering the indigenous UCAV project, they said. Kolkata Police on Monday busted a live gambling racket in the Ekbalpur area of the city during a targeted raid, arresting 15 people, including a prime accused, who were caught red-handed playing cards, officials said. The team seized Rs 1,01,920 in cash, believed to be proceeds from the illegal activity."All 15 individuals, including one Rabi Dhanuk, were found indulging in gambling, drawing in members of the public for wrongful gain and thereby causing financial harm to others," senior officer told India Today accused were unable to produce any valid documentation or offer satisfactory explanations for operating the gambling den. A case was registered, and all 15 were arrested. Authorities also confiscated gambling paraphernalia and all money involved in the activity from the case has been registered under Sections 112(1)(2)/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 3 and 4 of the West Bengal Gambling and Prize Competitions Act, 1957.
