Nita Ambani, director of Reliance Industries, recently spent an evening at Bungalow, celebrity chef Vikas Khanna's Michelin-star restaurant in New York, to curate a special culinary experience ahead of the upcoming Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) India Weekend in the city. Accompanied by her daughter, Isha Ambani Piramal, and granddaughter Aadiya Shakti, Nita Ambani received a grand welcome from the restaurant crew. As she arrived, the crew showered flowers on her, and a group of dancers gave a welcome performance. In the video that has now gone viral, one of the performers is seen requesting Ambani to join them. A trained classical dancer herself, she smiled and gracefully joined the dancers. During her visit, Ambani tasted a variety of dishes personally prepared by Chef Khanna, preparing for the food curation of the NMACC India Weekend, scheduled for September 12 to 14 in New York City at the iconic Lincoln Center. While the video has got everyone talking about the event, fashion enthusiasts could not get over Nita's sindoori red Banarasi silk saree. The Reliance Foundation's chairperson captivated the audience with her stunning ensemble that celebrated Indian craftsmanship on a global platform. In the video, Nita Ambani donned a red Banarasi silk saree. The saree featured intricate gold brocade embroidery along with broad double gold borders that added richness to the ensemble. The saree featured intricate Gandabherunda motifs that were rendered in real gold and silver zari. Draped in a classic style, the six yards were pleated neatly at the front, while the pallu was gracefully draped over her shoulder and pinned elegantly at the arm. Expressing her excitement, she said this will be the first-ever international showcase for the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC), which will be titled 'India Weekend' and be held from September 12 to 14. She added that the event 'will spotlight the soul of India in all its glory". 'Namaskar…We are thrilled and excited to present the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre India Weekend at the Lincoln Centre in New York from the 12th to the 14th September. Bringing NMACC to New York is not just about a weekend of performances, it's about spreading India's cultural voice to a global audience and truly taking the very best of India to the world," she said in her video message. According to social media posts by the Reliance Industries Limited, tickets for the three-day event in September have not yet been released. 'Namaste NYC! A special message from Mrs Nita M Ambani, Founder, Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre," the post on X said. 'Join us for the @ – celebrating India's BEST in culture, music, fashion, food and art @lincolncenter" (sic) Inviting one and all to take part in this 'unforgettable experience", Ambani said the NMACC event will showcase India's culture, arts and crafts, song and dance, fashion and food. I can't wait to share India's rich traditions and heritage with all of you in New York City," she said. WHAT'S IN STORE? According to an official statement, the weekend will commence on September 12, at the David H Koch Theatre, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, with the highly anticipated US premiere of India's largest theatrical production, 'The Great Indian Musical: Civilisation to Nation'. This production will blend dance, art, fashion, and music, and is a tribute to India's past, present and future across its history from 5000 BC until its independence in 1947, as per the statement. It will feature a cast of more than 100 performers, opulent costumes and larger-than-life sets with a limited run of five performances, it said. The opening night will commence with an invite-only red carpet – 'Grand Swagat' (Grand Welcome) – featuring the 'Swadesh Fashion Show Curated by Manish Malhotra', spotlighting India's traditional weaves and artisans, as per the statement. The evening will have a special presentation of cuisines and flavours from ancient to modern India, presented by Michelin-starred chef Vikas Khanna, it said. The NMACC India Weekend will also take over Damrosch Park from September 12 to 14, bringing alive enthralling and engaging experiences in the form of a 'Great Indian Bazaar', the statement read.
