U.S. citizen arrested after over 100 pounds of meth seized near Indio

INDIO, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — U.S. Border Patrol agents from the El Centro Sector intercepted a major drug smuggling attempt last week, seizing 113 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in a trailer and arresting a 27-year-old U.S. citizen in connection with the case. Officials estimate the street value of the narcotics is around $96,500. According to the El Centro Sector, the bust occurred around 10:30 a.m. on Highway 86 near Indio on Monday. Agents pulled over a black pickup truck towing a trailer. What caused the plan crash in San Diego? During the stop, a Border Patrol K-9 trained in detecting illegal drugs and concealed persons alerted to the vehicle and trailer, prompting a search. Agents discovered a compartment within the trailer containing a crystal-like substance that later tested positive for methamphetamine. The vehicle, trailer and driver were taken to the Indio Border Patrol Station for further investigation. A more extensive search uncovered 36 packages of methamphetamine hidden in three compartments under the trailer's floor, according to authorities. El Centro Sector Chief Patrol Agent Gregory Bovino praised the efforts of the team involved in the seizure. 'A sharp-eyed Border Patrol agent from Indio Station and his K-9 partner just took it to the bad guys, and we are proud of them!' he stated. 'The Premier Sector goes to the ends of the earth to stop dangerous drugs such as these – ma and pa America, stay tuned, much more to come!' The driver was placed under arrest, and both the drugs and the vehicle were seized by U.S. Border Patrol. This seizure adds to a growing list of significant drug busts by the El Centro Sector, which continues to play a critical role in intercepting narcotics before they can reach communities across California and beyond. The Weeknd Matches Drake And Bruno Mars As He Makes History

The Weeknd's 'Timeless' rebounds to No. 1 on the Hot R&B Songs chart, marking its twentieth week on ... More top and tying the artist with himself and other chart legends. INDIO, CALIFORNIA - APRIL 21: The Weeknd performs with Metro Boomin at the Sahara tent during the 2023 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 21, 2023 in Indio, California. (Photo byfor Coachella) While Hurry Up Tomorrow, the new movie from The Weeknd, did not perform as expected at the box office, the album of the same name is on the rise on charts all around the world. Interest in the project hasn't waned much since it arrived in early 2025, and it's now gaining ground in a meaningful way. This week, in addition to the full-length growing, the set's lead single also rebounds on a number of Billboard rankings. The track is becoming not just a certified smash once more, but a No. 1 success story. As it returns to the summit, it helps the man behind the tune match achievements reached by several other superstars – and even himself. 'Timeless,' a collaboration between The Weeknd and Playboi Carti, jumps back to No. 1 on the Hot R&B Songs chart. It lifts from No. 4 to the peak position in its thirty-third frame on the ranking of the most consumed R&B tunes throughout the U.S. As it rebounds to the top spot, the tune earns its twentieth stay at No. 1. 'Timeless' is just the eighth single in history to spend 20 weeks at No. 1 on the Hot R&B Songs chart. As it reaches that milestone, it ties with three other tracks as the fifth longest-running champion ever. The Weeknd matches his own successful run with 'Starboy,' a collaboration with Daft Punk. He also ties both 'One Dance' by Drake, Wizkid, and Kyla, and 'That's What I Like' by Bruno Mars, all of which held on for just as long. Of the eight tracks that have ruled the Hot R&B Songs chart for 20 weeks or more, three belong to The Weeknd. He continues to lead all tunes with 'Blinding Lights,' which sits in a distant first place with 48 frames at No. 1. SZA claims the next two spots on this all-time ranking, as 'Snooze' and 'Kill Bill' dominated for 32 and 30 frames, respectively. 'Million Dollar Baby,' the breakout cut from Tommy Richman, managed 22 stays at No. 1 during its reign just last year. 'Timeless' was recently reissued as a remix featuring Doechii, one of the hottest names in rap at the moment. Her presence helped spur sales and streams of the track, and while she isn't credited on the Billboard charts — her version is apparently not the most consumed 'Timeless' — the boost in attention can clearly be connected, at least partially, back to her inventive verse. Headlines focusing on The Weeknd's movie also brought attention back to Hurry Up Tomorrow, the album, as well as its singles. There's a good chance that 'Timeless' was headed for a rise anyway, whether Doechii got involved or not. This week, 'Timeless' hits No. 1 on both the Hot R&B Songs and R&B Streaming Songs charts. It can also be found inside the top 10 on five other Billboard tallies.

Lady Gaga's Debut Album Reaches A New Chart Peak 16 Years After It Dropped

Lady Gaga's The Fame reaches a new streaming peak in the U.K., climbing to No. 31 on the Official ... More Albums Streaming chart 256 weeks into its run. INDIO, CALIFORNIA - APRIL 11: (FOR EDITORIAL USE ONLY) (EXCLUSIVE ACCESS) Lady Gaga performs at the Coachella Stage during the 2025 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival at Empire Polo Club on April 11, 2025 in Indio, California. (Photo byfor Coachella) Lady Gaga's focus at the moment is still on her album Mayhem. The singer dropped the dark electronic dance project earlier in 2024, and after heavy promotion, the set became another huge winner for her on charts all around the world. It continues to perform well, thanks largely to singles like "Abracadabra" and especially "Die With a Smile" with Bruno Mars. While millions of people continue to buy and stream the most recent full-length in Gaga's arsenal, the set that started it all for the pop superstar is not only still popular — it actually manages to rise to a new peak on one major chart this week. The Fame, Gaga's debut full-length, lives on multiple charts in the United Kingdom this frame. It's a top 40 win on both tallies where it can be found, as people just can't get enough of the decade-plus-old project. The Fame returns to the top 40 on the Official Albums chart, jumping from No. 48 to No. 37. At the same time, it climbs nine spaces to No. 31 on the Official Albums Streaming tally. On that latter list, which ranks the most successful collections on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and other competitors, The Fame reaches a new all-time peak. It does so 256 weeks into its time on the roster. Impressively, The Fame is only a few spots behind Mayhem on the Official Albums Streaming chart. Gaga's newer release dips from No. 20 to No. 28 in its ninth frame. Mayhem is also present inside the top 40 on almost every tally on which it appears, slipping just beneath that tier on the Official Album Downloads roster — but otherwise, the title is still performing exceptionally well. The Fame remains a constant source of commercial success for Gaga even to this day. Released in 2008, the project produced career-defining smashes like "Just Dance," "Poker Face," and "Paparazzi." The music featured on the full-length has come back into focus recently thanks to Gaga's Coachella headlining sets and her historic performance in Rio de Janeiro — all of which reminded the world to begin streaming the project once more.

Benson Boone Scores Multiple Hot 100 Hits This Week — And His Year-Old Tune Still Rules

Benson Boone earns his eighth Hot 100 hit with "Mystical Magical" which opens inside the top 40 as ... More "Beautiful Things" continues to live inside the top 10. INDIO, CALIFORNIA - APRIL 11: (FOR EDITORIAL USE ONLY) Benson Boone performs at the Coachella Stage during the 2025 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival at Empire Polo Club on April 11, 2025 in Indio, California. (Photo byfor Coachella) Benson Boone is in the midst of a very exciting and busy week on the Billboard charts. The singer-songwriter, who broke out in a major way in early 2024 with his smash "Beautiful Things," is deep into the promotional cycle for his forthcoming sophomore album American Heart. That project is expected next month, and the Grammy-nominated musician has already delivered a pair of tunes from the set. This frame, both of his latest singles stand out as hits in the U.S., and he even manages to live inside the top 10 once more — but not with some of his most recent material. Boone fills a trio of spaces on the Hot 100 this week. That list is Billboard's ranking of the most consumed songs throughout the country, blending sales, streams, and radio activity. That's a large number of spots for a musician who only broke out in a major way a little over a year ago. Amazingly, the tune that started it all and turned him into a proper superstar is still going strong in the U.S., and even outperforming those titles that are being pushed at the moment Perhaps most excitingly, Boone scores a new hit on the Hot 100 this frame — and a new top 40 to boot. "Mystical Magical," the second American Heart single, launches at No. 40 on the list. It's his eighth placement on the competitive tally. "Mystical Magical" was preceded by another single titled "Sorry, I'm Here for Someone Else." That track lifts one space from No. 34 to No. 33 on the current Hot 100, as Boone keeps promoting the tune and it's serviced to radio stations throughout the country. While the focus for Boone at the moment is on both "Sorry, I'm Here for Someone Else" and "Mystical Magical," Americans are still in love with "Beautiful Things." This time around, the track even manages to climb one spot to No. 9 on the current edition of the Hot 100. That's an incredible placement for a song that has now spent 66 weeks on the list. Amazingly, "Beautiful Things" is present inside the top 10 on several other Billboard tallies as well. It even manages to hold at No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary radio roster, well over a year after it first became an airplay hit in America.
