Lady Gaga's Debut Album Reaches A New Chart Peak 16 Years After It Dropped

Lady Gaga's focus at the moment is still on her album Mayhem. The singer dropped the dark electronic dance project earlier in 2024, and after heavy promotion, the set became another huge winner for her on charts all around the world. It continues to perform well, thanks largely to singles like "Abracadabra" and especially "Die With a Smile" with Bruno Mars.
While millions of people continue to buy and stream the most recent full-length in Gaga's arsenal, the set that started it all for the pop superstar is not only still popular — it actually manages to rise to a new peak on one major chart this week.
The Fame, Gaga's debut full-length, lives on multiple charts in the United Kingdom this frame. It's a top 40 win on both tallies where it can be found, as people just can't get enough of the decade-plus-old project.
The Fame returns to the top 40 on the Official Albums chart, jumping from No. 48 to No. 37. At the same time, it climbs nine spaces to No. 31 on the Official Albums Streaming tally.
On that latter list, which ranks the most successful collections on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and other competitors, The Fame reaches a new all-time peak. It does so 256 weeks into its time on the roster.
Impressively, The Fame is only a few spots behind Mayhem on the Official Albums Streaming chart. Gaga's newer release dips from No. 20 to No. 28 in its ninth frame. Mayhem is also present inside the top 40 on almost every tally on which it appears, slipping just beneath that tier on the Official Album Downloads roster — but otherwise, the title is still performing exceptionally well.
The Fame remains a constant source of commercial success for Gaga even to this day. Released in 2008, the project produced career-defining smashes like "Just Dance," "Poker Face," and "Paparazzi."
The music featured on the full-length has come back into focus recently thanks to Gaga's Coachella headlining sets and her historic performance in Rio de Janeiro — all of which reminded the world to begin streaming the project once more.

Pop singer Jessie J says she has been diagnosed with early breast cancer

NEW YORK — The English pop singer Jessie J says she has been diagnosed with breast cancer and will undergo surgery after her performance at the London music festival Capital's Summertime Ball next weekend. Jessie J, 37, shared the news in an Instagram video on Wednesday. 'I was diagnosed with early breast cancer,' she said in the clip. 'Cancer sucks in any form, but I'm holding onto the word 'early'.' 'It's a very dramatic way to get a boob job. I am going to disappear for a bit after Summertime Ball to have my surgery, and I will come back with massive (expletive) and more music.' The annual Summertime Ball will be held at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, June 15. She told her social media audience that she felt compelled to share her diagnosis. 'I just wanted to be open and share it,' she said. 'One, because, selfishly, I do not talk about it enough. I'm not processing it because I'm working so hard. I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories. I'm an open book. It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much similar and worse – that's the bit that kills me.' The Grammy-nominated Jessie J has long been celebrated for her robust soprano and R&B-informed pop hits, like the 2014 collaboration with Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande, 'Bang Bang,' and 2011's 'Domino.' She has released five albums across her career, most recently, 2018's Christmas album, 'This Christmas Day.' She has been releasing new music in 2025, including the singles 'Living My Best Life' and 'No Secrets.' A new album is expected later this year. She has a son, Sky Safir Cornish Colman, born in 2023. A representative for Jessie J did not immediately respond to The Associated Press' request for comment.

James Blunt celebrates the 20th anniversary of his biggest hit that calls ‘a bit creepy'

James Blunt's song 'You're Beautiful' is beloved, even though it's not about what some people imagine. The British singer recently shared a video and post on social media in which reflected on his hit earworm. '20 years ago today, I released a song that bought me this house,' Blunt said. 'Whoever thought a song about being high as a kite on drugs, stalking someone else's girlfriend would resonate quite so much? Thank you. You guys are beautiful.' The song off his 2004 debut album, 'Back to Bedlam,' became a worldwide hit in 2005. In 2020, the former British army captain wrote an essay for the Guardian about 'You're Beautiful' and talked about the inspiration for the tune. 'One day I was on the underground in London and saw an ex-girlfriend with her new boyfriend,' he wrote. 'Our eyes met, but we just walked past each other, and I went home and wrote the words to 'You're Beautiful' in two minutes.' He also addressed the disconnect between how the song came to be and how fans viewed it. 'It's always been portrayed as romantic, but it's actually a bit creepy,' he wrote. 'It's about a guy (me) who's high and stalking someone else's girlfriend on the subway. But everyone has those moments where you wonder: 'What if I'd said something?'' How beautiful is that?
