Abu Dhabi: The high-level all-party delegation from India led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Eknath Shinde, on Saturday wrapped up the successful and productive visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), significantly enhancing bilateral cooperation in combating terrorism under the global outreach campaign of Operation Sindoor. "The All-party delegation led by Eknath Shinde successfully concludes its highly productive visit to the UAE, further strengthening India-UAE cooperation in the fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations," the Indian Embassy in the UAE posted on X. Earlier on Friday, the Indian delegation paid obeisance at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, BAPS Hindu Temple and Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara in Abu Dhabi, conveying a strong message of harmony, tolerance and peaceful co-existence -- the values shared and cherished by India and the UAE. The leaders also met Nikolay Mladenov, Director General of Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy of the UAE, and exchanged views on furthering cooperation between New Delhi and Abu Dhabi in counter-terrorism and combating radicalism. On Thursday, the delegation interacted with the members of the Indian diaspora in Abu Dhabi, conveying a resolute stance and national consensus in collective resolve against terrorism. It also held productive discussions with Jamal Mohammed Obaid Al Kaabi, Director General, National Media Office of UAE, and discussed the role of media in countering terrorism and extremism. The UAE has assured India that both countries will tackle terrorism together as the strong bilateral relationship extends beyond trade and culture, also encompassing security and strategic issues. UAE's Minister of Tolerance and Co-Existence Sheikh Nahyan Mabarak Al Nahyan, Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi -- Chairman of the Defence, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee of Federal National Council -- besides several other senior Emirati parliamentarians, also expressed full solidarity with India as the high-level all-party delegation from India called on them in Abu Dhabi. As the delegation highlighted the perpetration of cross-border terrorism and efforts to cause social disharmony in India by Pakistan, Nahyan Mabarak Al Nahyan conveyed his deep condolences on the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attacks and said, "India and UAE will tackle terrorism together. The UAE will always stand by India." The delegation then held substantive discussions with Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defence, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Federal National Council, underscoring the precise, measured, and non-escalatory nature of Operation Sindoor against the barbaric terrorist attack on the tourists in Kashmir on April 22. According to the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi, during the meeting, Nuaimi stressed, "India-UAE relationship is beyond trade and culture, and encompasses security and strategic issues. Terrorism is against the whole of humanity and the international community must act now." Ahluwalia, and former Ambassador Sujan Chinoy. UAE's unwavering support The UAE reaffirmed its unwavering support for India, with senior Emirati lawmaker Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi calling terrorism a 'global threat' and an 'evil for all humanity'. Al Nuaimi made the remarks after meeting an Indian all-party parliamentary delegation led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde in Abu Dhabi. 'Terrorism is a threat not just to a single nation or region, but it is a global threat,' said Al Nuaimi, who chairs the UAE Federal National Council's Defence, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee. 'We are already cooperating with India on efforts to fight terrorism. The security of Indian nationals is non-negotiable. India is a strategic partner, not just with the government but also its people.' STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The Indian delegation is one of seven teams dispatched to 33 world capitals as part of New Delhi's diplomatic effort to highlight Pakistan's role in supporting terrorism and to rally international support for its counterterrorism response. Shinde described the UAE's stance as 'very fruitful,' saying Emirati leaders stood 'shoulder to shoulder with full commitment' against terrorism. He added that the UAE was the first to condemn the Pahalgam attack and said the message from Abu Dhabi was clear: 'Terrorism cannot proliferate in the name of any religion.' Other members of the delegation included BJP MPs Manan Kumar Mishra, S S Ahluwalia, Atul Garg and Bansuri Swaraj; BJD MP Sasmit Patra; IUML MP E T Mohammed Basheer; former diplomat Sujan R Chinoy; and India's ambassador to the UAE, Sunjay Sudhir. Japan shows solidarity Separately in Tokyo, Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya told another Indian delegation led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Jha that 'terrorism cannot be justified in any form' and conveyed Japan's solidarity with India and the global community in fighting terrorism. According to a statement from the Indian Embassy in Tokyo, Iwaya expressed condolences for the Pahalgam victims and praised India's 'precise, targeted, proportionate and non-escalatory' response through Operation Sindoor. Jha briefed Japanese leaders about the attack and India's position on terrorism. He said the Pahalgam assault was a deliberate attempt to disrupt peace and development in Jammu and Kashmir and urged Tokyo to support implementation of the UN Security Council's April 25 press statement, which called for holding those responsible accountable. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The Japanese foreign minister welcomed India's restraint and reiterated Tokyo's support for New Delhi's efforts to counter terrorism. The Indian MPs also met Yoshihide Suga, former prime minister and current Vice President of Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party, and Takashi Endo, chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on National Security. Hostilities ceased after military talks between the Directors General of Military Operations of both countries on May 10. With inputs from agencies

US tariff will be an opportunity for India-UAE bilateral trade: UAE parliamentarian Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi

New Delhi: Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, a UAE parliamentarian, asserted on Friday that with any challenge comes opportunity, and the latest tariff regime in the US can be an opportune moment for India-UAE ties. "This (US tariff) brings opportunity for the relationship between our two countries. The bilateral relationship should take advantage...," the UAE politician told ANI in Dubai. "We do understand that, but at the same time, there is always opportunity. Here in the UAE, whenever there are challenges, there are opportunities. And we see that both countries, UAE and India, should try to look into the opportunity that these challenges are bringing to the world," the UAE Parliamentarian and Educator, Chairman, Defense Affairs, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee, UAE Federal National Council, said. He said that the relationship between India and UAE is strategic. "A relationship where you will have the government-government relations, private sector-private sector, and people to people. We have a history. You know, on many occasions, we don't need an agreement. The engagement is there. Actually, what the CEPA did was open new avenues for both countries and for the people, and this is where the added value is for both sides," he explained. The UAE has signed CEPA with more than 27 countries, he said. "And this is where India gets access to all these 27 countries because the UAE has signed this agreement," he supplemented. Asked whether UAE would impose any counter tariffs on the US, he said, "No". "No, no, we are not. Our culture of dealing with our friends and allies is not like that. We engage in dialogue, and we believe that through dialogue, we will able to find a solution to all these issues and challenges," he explained. Further, he said the India-UAE relationship is bright, with officials from both sides meeting regularly. "We always see more opportunity, more engagement, and the future is bright for this relationship," he said. He cited the recent India visit of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. "This engagement of officials from both sides is really taking our relationship to the next level. I just came from Tashkent for the parliamentary union meetings. I met with his excellency, the speaker of the Indian parliament (Om Birla). The engagement is there almost every month; every week, there's something. So our relationship with India is different," he added.
