Tadepalli: On the occasion of International Tribal Day, YSRCP chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, taking to the X platform, extended heartfelt greetings to tribal communities, emphasising their pure-hearted existence in nature's embrace and their role as custodians of India's ancient history and culture. A celebration was held at the YSRCP state office at Tadepalli to mark the occasion. YSRCP leaders paid tributes to tribal leaders like Gam Mallu Dora, Birsa Munda, and Jaipal Singh Munda. Party state ST Cell president and former MLA K Bhagyalakshmi, MLC Dr Kumba Ravibabu, MLA Regam Matsyalingam and others participated. Speaking on this occasion, leaders claimed that Jagan's tenure as chief minister marked unprecedented tribal welfare initiatives. They said he distributed 3,22,670 acre land under the Forest Rights Act, established a Tribal Advisory Committee, and pushed for constitutional amendments to secure tribal job rights. They criticised that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has failed to distribute even a single acre of land, reflecting utter neglect. . MLC Dr Kumba Ravibabu lauded Jagan's legacy, noting that Dr YSR initiated Tribal Day celebrations in 2005, distributing four lakh acre. MLA Matsyalingam demanded the restoration of GO No 3 for tribal job reservations and constitutional amendments.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has conveyed his best wishes to tribal communities on the occasion of International Tribal Day. In a post on the social media platform 'X', he emphasised the development of agency areas to be on par with more urban regions, asserting that the coalition government aims to uplift tribal lives significantly. Naidu indicated that discussions regarding future programmes tailored for tribal welfare would take place soon, and key decisions are expected to be announced later today. He reiterated the government's commitment to the advancement of tribal communities. Minister Nara Lokesh also shared his greetings on the same platform, highlighting the unique lifestyle of tribal people as a testament to ancient cultures and traditions. He noted that the coalition government is actively engaged in promoting their welfare, with Rs 7,557 crores allocated in the previous financial year. Lokesh assured that the government will continue to support tribal communities in every possible way moving forward.

CM Naidu to attend International Tribal Day celebrations in ASR district

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will be attending the International Tribal Day celebrations at Vanjangi village of Paderu mandal in Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) district on Saturday. The Chief Minister will also visit the Modakondamma temple and participate in the traditional tribal cultural events. He will also visit tribal households to understand their living conditions. Later, Mr. Naidu will interact with the coffee growers. It will be followed by a public meeting at Lagisapalle. From there, he will inaugurate various development projects in the tribal areas. Several MoUs will be signed in his presence. Mr. Naidu is also scheduled to interact with the party workers. The United Nations has given this year's theme as 'Protecting the Rights of Indigenous Peoples: Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Indigenous Peoples'. The government accelerated road development projects to connect remote tribal habitations with the Agency headquarters and the plains. Roads and bridges worth ₹2,404 crore were being constructed to enhance connectivity to over 2,075 tribal hamlets over the next five years. In ASR district alone, ₹41 crore was being spent on road corridors. The Community Health Centre at the Chintoor ITDA was being upgraded from 50 to 100 beds. In addition, ₹50 crore each had been sanctioned for multi-specialty hospitals in Seethampeta, Parvathipuram, Rampachodavaram, KR Puram, and Srisailam ITDA areas. These hospitals were expected to become operational soon. Construction of a medical college in Paderu was also progressing rapidly. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), drinking water supply to 13,816 tribal habitations was being taken up at a cost of ₹2,373 crore, with a target to complete the works by 2026. To support tribal youth preparing for the DSC and other competitive exams, the government had set up Study Circles in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Tirupati, and other urban centres. Furthermore, ₹150 crore had been sanctioned to convert residential school buildings in tribal areas into hostels. An additional ₹64 crore was being spent on the construction of over 520 new residential school buildings. A high-level bridge across the Nagavali between Poornapadu and Komarada in Parvathipuram-Manyam district was being taken up at a cost of ₹10 crore. The government had also devised a plan to expand Araku Coffee, now an internationally renowned brand, by boosting plantation areas and setting up pulping and processing units. Around ₹202 crore would be spent on expansion of coffee plantations and infrastructure. Tourism projects would also be initiated to create job and livelihood opportunities for tribal youth in the Agency regions, a press release said.

The International Tribal Day celebrations will be held on August 9 at the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) Parade Ground in Kotarama Chandrapuram, announced ITDA Project Officer Sri Ramulu Naik in a statement on Friday. The event is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Several dignitaries, including State Ministers, Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs), Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), the District Collector, officials from various departments, and public representatives are expected to attend the programme.
