Shashi Tharoor asked by his son about Pak involvement in Pahalgam terror attack

Washington, June 6 (UNI) Congress MP Shashi Tharoor who is leading an all-party delegation to the US, was asked a question by his son Ishan about Pakistan's denial of any involvement in the Pahalgam terror attack. Ishaan Tharoor wanted to know from his father whether any country had asked for evidence of Pakistan's involvement in the attack on April 22 and about Pakistan's consistent denial of its involvement in the attack. "Have any of your government interlocutors asked you to show evidence of Pakistan's culpability in the initial attack ? And what do you say to the repeated Pakistani denials of having any hand in the initial attack ?' Ishaan asked. Shashi Tharoor said India would not have retaliated the way it did if there was not convincing evidence against Pakistan. "I'm very glad you raised this. I didn't plant it, I promise you. Very simply, no one had any doubt, and we were not asked for evidence. But the media have asked in two or three places. Let me say very clearly that India would not have done this without convincing evidence. But there were three particular reasons I want to draw your attention to all of you. "The first is that we've had a 37-year pattern of repeated terror attacks from Pakistan, accompanied by repeated denials. I mean,Americans haven't forgotten that Pakistan didn't know, allegedly, where Osama bin Laden was until he was found in a Pakistani safe house right next to an army camp in a cantonment city. That's Pakistan. Mumbai attacks- they denied having anything to do with we know what Pakistan's all about. "They will dispatch terrorists, they will deny they did so until they're actually caught with red hands..." Shashi Tharoor said. UNI XC RB SSP

Watch: When Shashi Tharoor faced a question from his son Ishan in the US – ‘I didn't plant it, I promise you'

Congress Member of Parliament (MP) Shashi Tharoor faced a sharp question from his son Ishan Tharoor during an interaction at the Council on Foreign Relations during Operation Sindoor global outreach in New York on Thursday. When Ishan, who is Foreign affairs columnist at the Washington Post, stood up to pose a question, his father Shashi responded by saying 'that shoudn't be allowed, that is my son' and every one broke in a laughter. Ishan asked his father about whether any country had asked the delegation for evidence of Pakistan's involvement in the Pahalgam attack and about Pakistan's repeated denials of any role in the attack. While Ishan spoke, Tharoor asked him to raise his mike to be audible. 'I'm very glad you raised this. I didn't plant it, I promise you. Very simply, no one had any doubt, and we were not asked for evidence. But the media have asked in two or three places. Let me say very clearly that India would not have done this without convincing evidence.' the Congress leader responded. Tharoor is part of an all-party delegation travelling abroad as part of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi government's diplomatic outreach to highlight India's stand on terrorism following 'Operation Sindoor'. 'But there were three particular reasons I want to draw your attention to all of you. Mainak Bhaumik's film brings together a haunting tale

Ishan Mazumder stars as Nil in Mainak Bhaumik's genre-bending film, Batshorik, alongside Ritabhari Chakraborty and Shatabdi Roy. The film explores love, responsibility, and hidden burdens within a horror framework. Ishan describes his character as a grounded man who supports his family, particularly his wife and sister, navigating complex emotional landscapes. Actor Ishan Mazumder is part of Mainak Bhaumik's film Batshorik a genre-defying film that blends the chilling elements of horror with rich emotional depth where the actor is paired opposite Ritabhari Chakraborty . The film also stars Shatabdi Roy in a pivotal character. Ishan said, 'Joining the team for this film was a dream come true. Mainak's work has always inspired me, and getting that call felt surreal. This film has been an incredibly special journey,' he shares. At the heart of Batshorik is Nil — played by Ishan— a grounded, empathetic man in his late 30s who anchors his family with quiet strength and emotional intelligence. His wife, Bristi (Ritabhari), is an insightful and emotionally perceptive partner, often acting as Nil's confidante. Their relationship reflects a calm, supportive dynamic, though Bristi occasionally worries that Nil sacrifices too much of himself. The emotional core of the story also rests on Nil's bond with his elder sister Swapna Chatterjee (Shatabdi). Once fiercely independent, Swapna now leans heavily on Nil for reassurance and support, often calling on him in moments of vulnerability that reflect deeper personal unrest. "While B atshorik is set within the framework of horror, it rises above genre conventions. The film is intelligently crafted and emotionally layered — a story of love, responsibility, and the unseen burdens we carry," informed Ishan. Starbucks announces winners of their Regional Barista Championships

The winner of this coveted title goes on to compete in the Starbucks EMEA Championships in London. Training to become a Starbucks partner -as the company's baristas are called - is no simple affair. These passionate coffee lovers undergo many months immersing themselves in coffee knowledge and lore, with a hands-on curriculum crafted by the world renowned Starbucks Global Academy. 'We love recognising the hard work our partners invest in finetuning their craft,' says Ishan Natalie, Coffee Excellence Lead at Rand Capital Coffee Licensee Holder Starbucks SA. 'That's why the District Barista Championships are always such an exciting event.' Ishan explains that the competition was introduced by Starbucks several years before the company entered the South African market in 2016, when it was eagerly embraced by local partners. The competition starts with the Store Championships, with winners from this leg going on to compete in the District Championships, which took place in March. The Regional Championships, which were held in May, saw partners from the KwaZulu-Natal, Western Cape and Central region (comprising Gauteng and the Free State) will battle it out for a chance to take part in the National Barista Championships in June. The winner of this coveted title goes on to compete in the Starbucks EMEA Championships in London, where 37-46 other national champions from the European, Middle East and Africa will showcase their Coffee Knowledge, Creativity and Passion in the hopes of being named the Starbucks EMEA brand ambassador – and, more importantly, have a chance to compete in the Global Championships. This year, 83 partners from Starbucks' 72 stores around the country raised their hands to take part in the championships. Each was expected to show their expertise in different categories, including latte art, coffee quality and storytelling, where they share their knowledge about the beverage.
