Indri, on Thursday announced the launch of its latest creation,

Crafted in the village of Indri in Haryana, Agneya gets its name from the Sanskrit word meaning 'belonging to fire.' 'With Indri Agneya, we set out to push boundaries,' said Surrinder Kumar, Master Blender at Piccadily Agro Industries. 'We wanted to explore the untapped space between the familiar and the unexpected. Agneya introduces a new conversation, a whisky that hints at smoke and spice, while still retaining the warmth and complexity that defines Indri's house style.'

Unlike heavily peated Islay-style whiskies, Agneya uses indigenous six-row barley gently kilned over peat smoke to create a lightly smoked spirit. It's matured in American oak, both ex-Bourbon and Sherry casks, which adds richness without overwhelming the senses.
On the nose, it opens with nuttiness and ripe fruit; on the palate, it offers a smooth, layered texture and finishes with elegant, lingering smoke.

This makes Agneya a compelling choice for whisky drinkers curious about peat but hesitant to dive into more phenolic-heavy styles.
Agneya is the second major single malt offering under the Indri label, following the success of Indri-Trini, a triple-cask matured malt launched in 2022. The new release not only differentiates itself from its predecessor but also signals Piccadily's growing confidence in crafting whiskies that resonate both locally and globally.
More than a product launch, Agneya is part of a broader ambition to place India firmly on the global whisky map. Piccadily says the brand represents a commitment to innovation and terroir-driven spirits that rival top-tier malts worldwide.
Indri Agneya is currently available in Haryana at a minimum selling price (MSP) of ₹3,800. It will soon be launched in premium retail outlets across India, global travel retail, and select international markets in the coming months.
Piccadily Agro Industries
Limited (PAIL), a publicly listed company, operates primarily in two sectors: distillery and sugar. Its 168-acre facility in Indri, Haryana, houses advanced production systems for malt, extra neutral alcohol (ENA), ethanol, and sugar.
In addition to its single malt portfolio, Piccadily also produces blended malt whiskies and Camikara, an aged rum made from sugarcane juice. Since the launch of Indri in 2022, the company has embraced premiumisation, helping it become India's fastest-growing single malt brand by 2024.
With Agneya, Piccadily is betting big on India's evolving whisky palate—and looking to make smoke and spice part of the mainstream conversation.
