Marseille predicted XI vs Lille: Ismaël Bennacer to start
Marseille are aiming to secure their grip on second position in Ligue 1 as they travel to fellow rivals for UEFA Champions League qualification, Lille, on Sunday night. L'Équipe understands that Roberto De Zerbi is set to make one change to his team that comprehensively defeated Brest 4-1 last time out. The defence is set to remain unchanged with Geoffrey Kondogbia keeping his place as a makeshift centre back. In midfield, Valentin Rongier is set to drop to the bench with Ismaël Bennacer promoted to the starting eleven. Marseille duo Adrien Rabiot and Ismaël Bennacer fit to return Adrien Rabiot (29) and Ismaël Bennacer (27) are both set to make their returns when Olympique de Marseille face Stade de Reims on Saturday. Rabiot played in Le Classique against Paris Saint-Germain before the international break before joining up with the France squad. The midfielder played in Les Bleus' first game against Croatia in the UEFA Nations League in Split, which ended in a 2-0 defeat, however, he missed the return leg with a minor calf injury. However, Rabiot will be fit to feature this weekend. Hojbjerg remains sidelined for Marseille Bennacer, meanwhile, missed the match against PSG due to a hamstring injury. In order to prevent any aggravation of the injury, he turned down his call-up to the Algerian national team for the recent international break. L'Équipe reports that it is very likely that he will feature for Marseille against Les Stadistes. However, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Michael Murillo both remain sidelined for Les Phocéens. Marseille duo Ismaël Bennacer & Amine Gouiri called up for Algeria
Algeria national team coach Vladimir Petkovic announced on Friday a 26-man squad for Fennec Foxes' upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Botswana and Mozambique. The squad list includes Marseille duo Amine Gouiri and Ismaël Bennacer, among five players from Ligue 1 and two from Ligue 2, with a notable return for Youcef Belaïli. February Ligue 1 player of the month Amine Gouiri has been called up with OM teammate Ismaël Bennacer. Lille defender Aïssa Mandi has also made the cit, alongside Nice's Hicham Boudaoui, and Angers's Himad Abdelli. The 25-year-old SCO striker has made 24 appearances in Ligue 1 this season and scored six of the most unexpected inclusions was for Youcef Belaïli (33), now playing for ES Tunis.
