'Baseless and unfounded': Hamas responds to Trump's accusations
ALBAWABA - Friday, Hamas denied what it called "American and Israeli allegations" that the movement was taking the limited aid that was getting to the Gaza Strip.
According to a statement shared by Turkey's Anadolu Agency, the group told Washington to "take its moral and legal responsibilities, stop supporting Israel, and stop giving it cover for its crimes against Palestinians."
Izzat al-Risheq, a member of Hamas, made the statement in reaction to what U.S. President Donald Trump said about the movement: he said it was "stealing" aid.
What Trump Said
Earlier Friday, Trump told the news site Axios that Hamas was taking aid that was coming into Gaza. He said this because he was "concerned" about stories of famine in the region.
Axios says Trump said that work was still being done on a plan to send help to Gaza, which has been going through a humanitarian crisis because of Israel's actions, but he did not give any more information.
Hamas denies the claims
According to al-Risheq, President Trump's repeated claims that Israel is telling lies and making things up about Hamas taking and selling aid in Gaza are highly condemned.

He also said:
"Trump's accusations are without any proof and are meant to clear the criminal while putting the blame on the victim."
Al-Risheq said that such claims have been debunked in the past by reports and testimony from foreign groups like the United Nations. He said that a recent internal review by USAID had shown that there were no reports or proof that Hamas had taken aid.

More than two million people are being killed by Israel's policy, which is backed by the United States, according to the Hamas official. He said that food and medicine are being used as tools of war against them.
