One woman, one Sindoor: Sunaina Chautala questions BJP's Sindoor outreach

Representative image (AI) JIND: Indian national lokdal senior leader Sunaina Chautala said that BJP leaders don't understand the value of a woman's sindoor. A woman applies sindoor in the name of only one man in her life. The motive behind BJP distributing sindoor from door to door is unclear, but when the time comes, women will give them a fitting reply on their own. She was here in Jind on Wednesday to meet party workers. She was replying to query regarding the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) ' Operation Sindoor ' which will commence on June 9, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's third oath-taking, to highlight the achievements of the Modi 3.0 government nationwide. As part of this month-long public outreach, BJP aims to connect with every household, particularly by gifting vermillion to women and distributing informative pamphlets When the country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi cannot keep his own wife with him, how will he understand the value of sindoor (vermillion)? Women apply sindoor only in the name of one man. Therefore, people will give a better reply to them now," she added. Sunaina Chautala criticized the BJP for disrespecting women through their recent statements. She stated that rajya sabha member Ramchander Jangra's statement is condemnable. BJP should take action against such leaders. As a woman, I would say that Ramchander Jangra should apologize publicly to the women of the state. INLD's women's wing will protest against Ramchandrr Jangra until he resigns, she added. "Videos of BJP leaders go viral, but no strict action is taken against them. BJP's actions have been consistently disrespectful towards the dignity of women. They made big promises to women for electoral gains, but none were fulfilled. Even the promise of Rs 2100 for women in Haryana has not been implemented to this day, said Sunaina Chautala. Speaking on JJP leader Ajay Chautala, she said: "What Ajay Chautala says is true, he is two years older than Abhay Chautala. There is no contradiction in this. Ajay Chautala is indeed the son of former CM late OP Chautala and older than Abhay by two years. But today, he is not a leader of INLD and should not use photo of Chautala Sahab. INLD is a party based on the ideologies of late OP Chautala and Devi Lal. The JJP should clarify the intention behind the photo it is using. Now it is time to close the JJP chapter altogether, she added.

Vice Chancellor of CLDU in Haryana's Sirsa replaced 4 months after appointment

Barely four months after being appointed as the vice-chancellor of Chaudhary Devi Lal University (CDLU) in Haryana's Sirsa, Professor Narsi Ram Bishnoi was Monday replaced with Governor Bandaru Dattatraya, who is also the varsity's Chancellor, appointing Dr Vijay Kumar to the post. In a notification, Haryana Raj Bhawan said, 'Dr Vijay Kumar, Professor of Physics, has been appointed as vice-chancellor, CDLU, Sirsa, for a period of three years or till he attains the age of 68 years whichever is earlier, with effect from the date he assumes the charge of his office. Terms and conditions of the appointment will be determined on the advice of the state government later on'. Bishnoi had taken over as vice-chancellor of CDLU on January 25. He was previously vice chancellor of Guru Jambeshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUST), Hisar. Soon after taking over as V-C, Bishnoi renamed buildings at CDLU, igniting political controversy. On May 19, the multipurpose hall of the CDLU was named after Namdhari reformer Guru Ram Singh. Two days later, the IT data and computer centre was renamed after environmental martyr Mata Amrita Devi Bishnoi. On May 23, the Student Activity Centre was named after Hindutva ideologue Veer Savarkar. On Sunday, CDLU announced that its information centre and guidance bureau would be named after Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Ashok Singhal. The Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), led by Haryana's former deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala, had been protesting against Narsi Ram Bishnoi. During a press conference Sunday, Digvijay Singh, JJP's state secretary general and Dushyant's younger brother, accused Bishnoi of allegedly 'exceeding his mandate'. Singh claimed that the student activity centre was originally slated to be named after Punjab's former chief minister, Parkash Singh Badal, and Dushyant Chautala had already announced it. Singh added that the party did not have an objection to naming a building after Veer Savarkar, but it should not have been done by replacing Parkash Singh Badal's name. 'While I respect Veer Savarkar ji, but Parkash Singh Badal's contributions to the farming community and the region need to be equally respected, and cannot be ignored,' he said, and demanded that Badal's name be restored to the hall and 'Savarkar's name be assigned to another facility'. The JJP leader also urged Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to intervene, and warned of statewide protests if corrective action was not taken. Haryana government officials, however, told The Indian Express that it was a 'routine transfer'.

JJP general secretary Digvijay Chautala blames AAP, BJP govt's negligence for water crisis in Haryana

Chandigarh: Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) general secretary Digvijay Chautala on Friday blamed the BJP-led Haryana govt's alleged negligence and the Aam Aadmi Party 's "low-level" politics for the drinking water crisis in northern parts of the state. Digvijay Chautala said the BJP leaders in Punjab openly opposed providing water to Haryana, while the AAP's Haryana unit remained completely silent on the ongoing dispute. He mentioned that the politics of both BJP and the AAP was exposed as they tried to balance on two fronts, and the people of Haryana suffered as a result. Digvijay expressed surprise that while half of Haryana faced a severe water crisis, the BJP leaders in Punjab were worried about their votes, and AAP leaders from Punjab, Delhi, and Haryana supported Punjab's stance and advocated for leaving Haryana's people thirsty. He pointed out that Haryana's representation in the Bhakra Beas Management Board had weakened over the years. Digvijay held the Haryana govt and the state's leaders at the Centre responsible for this. The JJP leader also expressed surprise at the Punjab govt and the AAP leadership for being responsible for the water crisis. He criticised Arvind Kejriwal, who claimed to be a son of Haryana, for supporting "inhumane actions" against his home state through his chief minister. Digvijay reminded Kejriwal that people in Siwani Mandi – Kejriwal's ancestral village – along with other districts in northern Haryana, were also thirsty, and the AAP's Punjab govt was to blame. He appealed to the Punjab govt to release water immediately, setting aside all paperwork, and not become part of any conspiracy to leave Haryana's people thirsty in the scorching heat. The JJP leader also questioned the AAP's Haryana leadership on their silence regarding the Haryana's interests. MSID:: 120826993 413 |

Oppn slams Hry govt after DSP made to apologise

Hisar: Opposition leaders on Tuesday criticised the Haryana govt following the controversial public apology by a deputy superintendent of police (DSP), who was made to apologise on camera after removing BJP leader Manish Singal — son of former Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal — from the stage during chief minister Nayab Singh Saini's event in Sirsa on the morning of April 27, 2025. Akhilesh, in a social media post, questioned whether the BJP was attempting to demoralise the police by forcing a law-abiding officer to apologise publicly. "This is condemnable," he said. Deepender, MP from Rohtak, lashed out at the ruling party, stating, "The BJP's arrogance and intoxication with power have crossed limits. Forcing a Haryana Police DSP to apologise simply because a BJP leader wasn't recognised at the chief minister's event is shameful. The close aides of the CM are tarnishing both the dignity of the govt and the uniform." JJP's Digvijay Chautala echoed similar sentiments, saying, "This is the first time in history that a police officer was made to sit in a humiliating manner and apologise under pressure. Such incidents severely damage the morale of the police. The DGP must take immediate action." In response, BJP leader Aman Chopra defended the party, hitting back at Chautala's remarks. "When your party was in power, only God knows what all was done. You are in no position to lecture anyone," he retorted. The incident in question occurred on the morning of April 27, when chief minister Nayab Saini visited Sirsa to flag off the Cyclothon 2.0 Yatra. Manish Singla, accompanied by a youth, was standing near the stage when Jind DSP Jitender Rana asked them to move away. The DSP's apology was recorded on camera and released to the media, sparking widespread criticism from opposition leaders.

Financial ‘irregularities' at MDU: Issue hots up as JJP highlights audit objections

Chandigarh: With the student wing of the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) intensifying its efforts for the registration of a police case into the alleged financial irregularities at Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) Rohtak, the issue is likely to escalate into a major controversy. The issue relates to the waiver of penalties worth Rs 2.54 crore against the State University of Performing and Visual Arts (SUPVA) by the executive committee of the MDU, based on a decision taken by the vice-chancellor, who held dual charge as the head of both institutions. It is alleged that while officiating as the VC of the MDU, Prof Rajbir Singh approved the waiver, which was otherwise refused by his predecessors. Prof Rajbir Singh also headed the SUPVA, against whom the arrears were outstanding for not remitting fees as well as fines in time in an over a decade-old case. All this came to light last week when Pardeep Deswal, an office bearer of the INSO, the student wing of the JJP, formally lodged a complaint with Rohtak police, citing the audit para of the internal audit report of the Haryana govt, which highlighted the financial irregularity to the tune of Rs 2.54 crore. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Google Brain Co-Founder Andrew Ng, Recommends: Read These 5 Books And Turn Your Life Around Blinkist: Andrew Ng's Reading List Undo The case is under investigation and recently Deswal provided the related documents and findings of the former executive committees, which had refused to give any kind of waiver before the incumbent VC took over. "MDU doesn't get any kind of financial grant. We wonder under what circumstances the university gave the waiver, that too in gross violation of the rules and the university calendar," said Deswal. He squarely blamed the VC for arbitrarily taking the decision and then getting it passed. On the other hand, MDU has categorically denied the allegations. An MDU spokesperson said agencies were misled by the allegations while using the audit objections. "It is not a case of embezzlement or misappropriation; it is a case of waiver of an unjustified fine to the tune of Rs 2.54 crore imposed upon the students of erstwhile State Technical Institutions (now SUPVA) affiliated to the Maharshi Dayanand University by the executive council of the MDU on the directives of the state govt," the spokesperson said on Saturday. According to the documents accessed by the TOI, the audit para of the audit report for the year 2020-21 categorically highlighted the financial irregularities under the head of 'embezzlement, temporary misappropriation shortages, and likely cases of misappropriation of funds and storages, etc.'. The head further defined the audit brief as "huge loss of Rs 2.54 crore on account of waiving off of late fee/fine of affiliation fee of SUPVA due to non-pursuit of the case". MSID:: 120647426 413 |
