Top Lashkar terrorist Saifullah Khalid planning new front in Bangladesh: Report cites intel sources
Saifullah Khalid, a high-ranking Lashkar-e-Taiba commander and a key figure behind the Pahalgam terror attack, appeared at a public rally in Punjab, Pakistan, on Wednesday. According to top Intelligence sources, Khalid's speech at the event is being seen as a blueprint for destabilisation in the region. Intelligence sources indicate that by leveraging Lashkar-e-Taiba's state-supported infrastructure and the presence of Talha Saeed (Hafiz Saeed's son), Khalid aims to exploit political gaps in Bangladesh to initiate a new jihadist front. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD In his address, Saifullah Khalid portrayed Bangladesh as a land of oppressed Muslims and called for jihad against Hindus. His speech at the Milli Muslim League rally is considered a significant threat to Bangladesh. This threat combines ideological provocation with operational directives, as Khalid provided specific targets and advocated for jihad against India, Bangladesh, and Hindus. Intelligence sources confirm that Khalid also plans to establish terror infrastructure and a hospital in Allahabad in Pakistan's Kasur, aiming to recruit Bangladeshi youth by exploiting their socioeconomic grievances. Saifullah Khalid's support for Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) cadres in Bangladesh was evident in his speech. Recent arrests of JMB handlers in Pakistan have revealed their involvement in operations against Bangladesh. JMB has already demonstrated readiness for cross-border collaboration by organising pro-Hamas rallies in Dhaka. Intelligence sources note that Lashkar-e-Taiba supports JMB with training, funding, and logistical aid, facilitated by the ISI. As LeT's deputy chief, Khalid provides JMB with resources for attacks within Bangladesh and against Indian interests in the region. Sources say his speech indicates that Lashkar-e-Taiba aims to position itself as a defender of Islamic identity against secular oppression. This indicates that, as ISI's auxiliary team, they are prepared to establish a new front in Bangladesh with local terror groups. In the video widely shared on the internet, Khalid could be heard spewing venom against India, Hindus, and the Bharatiya Janata Party. He also referred to the Pakistani terrorists killed in India's 'Operation Sindoor' as 'martyrs". 'I was informed that there was a terrorist attack in India on April 22, and later I came to know that India had referred to me as the mastermind of the attack," Khalid said at the rally, adding, 'We are not going to be scared by bullet shots and firing, and we aspire to die as martyrs." STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Khalid is the deputy chief of LeT and is known to be close to Hafiz Saeed. reports say Khalid had reached Kanganpur in Punjab, Pakistan, two months before the April 22 Pahalgam attack, in which, 26 non-Muslim tourists were shot dead by armed terrorists after being enquired about their religion.

Eldrew and Carlos Yulo's heir apparent? Young NCR gymnast Arman Hernandez Jr. bags five Palaro golds
ILOCOS NORTE - For a long time, Carlos and Eldrew Yulo were the household names in Palarong Pambansa as the brothers dominated gymnastics for two eras. Their time in the national multi-sports conclave, though, is now over. But the trails they helped blaze continue on. In fact, in the ongoing 2025 Palarong Pambansa in Ilocos Norte, one kid also from Yulo's home region NCR is starting to make a name for himself at only eight years old. Arman Hernandez Jr., who originally had dancesport as his main discipline, nearly swept the elementary boys' division (cluster 1) after winning five gold medals and one bronze medal to cap off his Palaro debut. The Pasay-born gymnast ruled the floor exercise, vault, horizontal bar, and individual all-around while helping his team dominate the team event. Hernandez' stellar feat came even though he has been participating in the sport for only a year now. And this might no longer surprise everyone, but Hernandez gets his fuel to continue gymnastics from Carlos and Eldrew. "Nakita ko lang po sa Facebook [si Kuya Caloy nu'ng nag-gold medal siya sa Paris Olympics] kaya po ako sumali [sa gymnastics]," Hernandez, who is close to the Yulo brothers since all of them reside in Manila, said on Tuesday. "Masaya po ako [na nanalo ako ng limang gold medals]." Hernandez put together a 9.200 performance in the floor exercise to beat his foes from Regions 1 and 10. He then posted a score of 9.300 in both vault and horizontal bar then collected 36.600 points in the individual all-around competition to complete his four-gold haul. In the team championship, Hernandez, alongside Deen Gungob and Kizz Gungob, garnered a total of 115.500 points to edge out representatives from Central Visayas and SOCSKSARGEN. —JMB, GMA Integrated News

Central Luzon, Western Visayas bets break Palaro records in secondary boys' 400m race, discus throw
ILOCOS NORTE - Two more meet records have been shattered after rising athletes from Central Luzon and Western Visayas flaunted record-breaking performances in the 2025 Palarong Pambansa in Ilocos Norte. Central Luzon's Alfred Talplacido set the record in the secondary boys' 400m race after clocking in 48.10 seconds to break the previous 48.7 mark set by Jomar Udtohan in 2014. Talplacido also bested John Clinton Abetong of Region IV-A (CALABARZON) and Kian Labar, who bagged the silver and bronze medals after registering 48.61 and 48.92 seconds, respectively. Meanwhile, another athletics ace in Josh Gabriel Salcedo of Western Visayas-Antique likewise broke the record in the secondary boys' discus throw after posting a throw of 45.52m. Salcedo broke the 42.86m-finish of Airex Gabriel Villanueva in 2023. Silver medalist Zachary Lawig of Baguio had actually broken the previous record as well after posting 43.92m, but fell short of Salcedo winning mark. Samar's Rolando Tingzon captured the bronze with a 41.99m finish. Earlier, Bacolod bet Mico Villaran eclipsed a 15-year-old record in the secondary boys' 110m hurdles after finishing the race in 14.00 seconds. —JMB, GMA Integrated News
