JOHOR Darul Ta'zim (JDT) head coach Xisco Munoz acknowledged his team only settled into their rhythm after scoring the first goal in their 5-0 FA Cup win against UM-Damansara FC. The match, held at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, saw JDT struggle initially before finding momentum. Munoz highlighted the importance of the opening goal in shifting the game's dynamics. 'The first goal was crucial. Before that, we lacked rhythm, but afterward, the team played with more confidence and intensity,' he said. He noted that scoring early allowed JDT to press harder and create more opportunities. Despite the convincing win, Munoz insisted his team must improve, especially in home matches. 'At home, we must perform better. New players are still adapting to the intensity here,' he explained. UM-Damansara FC suffered a setback when captain Hariz Mansor was sent off in the 38th minute. JDT's Jonathan Silva scored twice, including a header in the second half, securing control of the match. Luis Garcia, JDT's chief executive officer, emphasized that the Regent of Johor's guidance serves as the driving force behind the club's pursuit of excellence. 'His Royal Highness Tunku Mahkota Ismail has commanded that we elevate our performance and proudly fly the Johor and Malaysian flags higher on the international stage,' Garcia stated in a club release. Since 2019, JDT has been Malaysia's sole representative in the ACL Elite, contributing significantly to the country's AFC ranking points. This success has opened doors for more local clubs to compete at the Asian level. 'To keep progressing, we must aim higher, ensuring more Malaysian clubs qualify for continental competitions,' Garcia added. With the FIFA Club World Cup expanding to include more Asian teams, JDT sees an opportunity to secure a spot through its strong Asian club ranking. JDT signs Jon Irazabal to strengthen squad for new season
JOHOR Darul Ta'zim (JDT) have secured the services of heritage player Jon Irazabal to reinforce their squad for the upcoming season. The announcement was made via a video posted on the Johor Southern Tigers' official Facebook page. 'Our defence gets another wall, a familiar one nonetheless. Jon Irazabal has inked a deal with the Southern Tigers!' the club stated. The 28-year-old defender, who holds Sabahan heritage through his mother, recently obtained Malaysian citizenship and made his debut for the national team in June. Irazabal will wear jersey number 17 for the 11-time Super League champions. Before joining JDT, Irazabal played for Azerbaijan's Sabah FC, where he made 98 appearances and contributed to the team's Azerbaijan Cup victory in the 2024–25 season. The Southern Tigers have also bolstered their squad with other key signings, including Spanish centre-back Antonio Glauder, Brazilian striker Jairo Da Silva, and defensive midfielder Ibrahim Manusi.

The announcement on the recruitment of the 23-year-old player was made through a video uploaded on the Johor Southern Tigers' Facebook. 'There's only one place to take football to a higher standard. Welcome to the Southern Tigers, Ibrahim Manusi,' it said. Ibrahim will don the jersey number 27 with the Southern Tigers. JDT previously announced the signing of two foreign players — Brazilian forward Jairo Da Silva and Spanish defender Antonio Glauder.

JDT sign Brazilian striker Jairo Da Silva to bolster attack next season
JOHOR Darul Ta'zim (JDT) continue to bolster their attacking line for the upcoming season with the announcement of a new signing, forward Jairo Da Silva. The 33-year-old's arrival was announced through an introduction video uploaded today on the official club Facebook page, Johor Southern Tigers. 'Welcome to the Home of the Southern Tigers, Jairo Da Silva!' read the post, accompanied by a video showing Da Silva holding the Southern Tigers jersey with the number 11. Jairo played a key role in helping Pafos FC clinch the Cyprus League title for the first time in the club's history, scoring 10 goals and providing five assists throughout the season. The Brazilian striker is no stranger to international football, having played for several well-known clubs in Europe and South America, including PAOK Salonika (Greece), Hajduk Split (Croatia) and Botafogo (Brazil). Jairo's arrival makes him JDT's second new foreign signing for the upcoming season, following centre-back Antonio Glauder coming on board.
