After losing 15 kgs in 21 days, Jackky Bhagnani says he wouldn't ‘advice this to anyone': ‘Had to do it for a shoot with no option'

When Jackky Bhagnani marked his acting debut with 2009 film Kal Kissne Dekha, he grabbed attention for losing over 60 kgs before entering the film industry. Later, in 2017, it was reported that the Faltu actor has lost 15 kgs in just 21 days. However, Jackky Bhagnani claims these drastic weight loss regimes are extremely dangerous admitting that he didn't have an option then and it took a toll on his health. In an exclusive conversation with SCREEN, Jackky spoke about the time when he lost 15 kgs and said, 'It's not healthy. I don't prescribe this to anyone. I had to do it for a shoot but I would not advise that to anyone because anything drastic always has a side effect in someway or the other. It was the need of the hour because of my shoot so I had no option. Ideally, you should be so consistent that you don't need to do something so drastic. You should be four to six weeks away from your best body. You should maintain your body to that extent.' He explained, 'When you do something drastic like this, you either suffer from acidity, hair loss, gut issue, and weakness. Something or the other always affects because it is not natural (to lose so much weight). Either you will have to starve the whole time or take some fat burners. In both the cases it's not good.' Jackky, who successfully maintained his weight since his debut credited discipline for being in shape. 'To maintain a healthy lifestyle, it is a daily effort. Because I have lost weight, I have the tendency to gain weight. Whenever I go on a vacation and let myself lose, gaining weight comes naturally to me so I have to maintain a very strict lifestyle.' Previously, speaking about the reason behind drastic weight loss, Jackky Bhagnani told GQ, 'I broke my knee earlier this year so I had gained some weight because of that. I could not do much of cardio, I was only doing weights. And then the film came up. They needed me to look a certain way for the film and I had only 21 days to accomplish it. This was somewhere between late August and early September. I weighed around 91-92 kg back then and I brought down my weight to 77 kg within 21 days.' Jackky had shared he ran for 10-15 kms every day and wore warm clothes as it helped lose more water. Jackky also followed ketogenic diet which included high intake of fats, medium intake of proteins, and zero crabs. 'You're only allowed to have 4-5 grams of carbs per day through vegetables. So, you're tricking your body to use fats instead of carbs for energy.' However, after all these years, Jackky is dead against losing drastic weight. The actor-producer has also shifted to eating home grown organic vegetables for better health.

Jackky Bhagnani reveals his family ‘mortgaged properties' to produce ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan': The returns are not even 50%..

When ' Bade Miyan Chote Miyan ' was first announced, it was sold as the biggest spectacle of 2024. With action heroes Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff leading the film, and director Ali Abbas Zafar at the helm, excitement levels were sky-high. The film also featured Prithviraj Sukumaran as the villain, while Manushi Chhillar and Alaya F played key roles. Made on a massive budget of around Rs. 350 crore, the film promised international locations, high-end action scenes, and non-stop entertainment. However, what was expected to be a blockbuster crashed badly after its release on Eid, 11 April 2024. Despite the hype and star power, it collected only Rs. 111.49 crore worldwide as per Sacnilk and failed to make any lasting impact. If they didn't connect with it, then I have to go back to the drawing board and understand why,' he said. The financial blow, he revealed, was massive. 'The returns are not even 50%. Jackky Bhagnani says his family mortgaged properties to produce Bade Miyan Chote Miyan: ‘Nobody can understand our pain'

When the Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff-starrer film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan was released back in 2024, it made a lot of noise for its whopping reported budget of Rs 400 crore. However, the film failed to resonate with the audience and couldn't even reach its break even point. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned just Rs 111.49 crore worldwide in 56 days of its theatrical run. Bade Miyan Chote Miyan's failure was also notable, with several members of the film's crew alleging non-payment of dues from Vashu Bhagnani's Pooja Films. The producer filed an FIR against film's director, Ali Abbas Zafar, for alleged financial fraud and mismanagement of funds. Around the same time, it was also reported that Vashu Bhagnani had sold Pooja Films' Mumbai office to repay a debt of Rs 250 crore. Now, Vashu Bhagnani's son, actor-producer Jackky Bhagnani, has opened up about the film's failure. In an exclusive conversation with SCREEN, Jackky revealed his family had to mortgage their properties to make the film. Speaking about the film's failure, Jackky said, 'For me, it has been a huge learning. We invested a lot of money and I realised that just scale is not good enough. Somewhere, we felt that the content that was made didn't resonate with the audience at all. The public is always right. If didn't resonate then I have to go back to the drawing board and understand why did this piece of content didn't resonate with the audience. I have to take that with a pinch of salt and not make that mistake in the future.' Watch the full interview here: Addressing the controversies around the film, the actor-producer shared, 'I would like to say that the returns are not even less than 50%. I don't think anyone can understand what our pain was.' He further revealed, 'As a family, we have mortgaged our properties to make this film. We realise that there is no point in saying anything or speaking anything.' Without taking Ali Abbas Zafar's name, Jackky shared, 'We invested with faith hoping a good piece of content is made and the audience will like it. The honest truth is all of this is noise, if the film did well, no controversy would have happened. It is not my nature to take sides but all I would like to say is it was tough times and it is very important that we should all be very conscious of each other's money.' The film, also starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manushi Chhillar, Alaya F, and Ronit Roy, revolved around two former soldiers racing against time to save India from and imminent attack by a vengeful scientist. Promoted as a science fiction action film, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan failed to resonate with the audience. It was given the same title as the 1998 film starring Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda. However, it failed to recreate the magic from 25 years ago.
