Raiders center Jackson Powers-Johnson has gotten a burger named after him in Las Vegas
Raiders center Jackson Powers-Johnson has gotten a burger named after him in Las Vegas In the leadup to the 2024 NFL draft, Jackson Powers-Johnson talked about how he had a burger named after him while at Oregon. The Rimington Award winner was the draft's top center prospect and he hoped to get a similar burger named after him wherever he was drafted. It turned out to be the Raiders who made Powers-Johnson their pick at 44 overall. And now a year later, the 6-3, 334-pound center has officially done it. "I got a burger named after me," Powers-Johnson announced Wednesday after OTA practice. "It's at Barcode Burgers. It's called the Big Jax burger. I brought it to Vegas. It's super good, you guys should go try it." You won't find the Big Jax on the regular Barcode Burger menu. It's a seasonal item, just for this month. The sandwich features a beef patty, gouda mac-n-cheese bites, pepper jack cheese, a giant onion ring, applewood smoked bacon, bacon aioli, and blueberry bbq sauce. The burger was created by Jackson himself who is apparently not a big fan of veggies on his burger. Just lots of meat, cheese, and carbs for this Oline anchor.

Two Raiders offensive lineman with a real shot at new NFL Protector of the Year Award
Two Raiders offensive lineman with a real shot at new NFL Protector of the Year Award It's a pretty widely accepted concept that a football team's offense is only as good as the offensive line. Quarterbacks talk about how without time to throw, they can't scan the field and the wide receivers can't get open. And running backs credit linemen for opening holes for them while the rest of us give credit and lay blame for the whether they have room to run. Despite these commonly held beliefs, offensive linemen are never considered for awards like offensive player of the year or MVP and there has never been an individual award that recognized the work the offensive line. Until now. The NFL unveiled the Protector of the Year Award last week. Giving a few Raiders offensive linemen something to strive for. For the past few years, left tackle Kolton Miller has been the Raiders top offensive lineman. So it would seem he would have the best shot at the award. Though, obviously, it would require him to have his best season. Despite being a full time starter since his rookie season and a solid left tackle fo the Raiders the past six years, he has never made the Pro Bowl. And you'd have to figure those who are already established as being the best at their position would have the inside track on being recognized for their efforts. Mainly because it isn't like there are solid stats that come into play for linemen the same way there are for most other positions. Jackson Powers-Johnson would figure to have a decent shot being that he was the top drafted center in last year's draft and is entering his first season as the full time starter at the position. Should he excel right away, he could earn recognition. None of the other offensive line spots for the Raiders have a sure starter. That isn't to say there isn't one on the team, but just who will start where has yet to be decided.

Raiders' OL Jackson Powers-Johnson Reveals Position He Prefers to Play
While general manager Tom Telesco did not last long with the Las Vegas Raiders, he did provide the franchise with several cornerstone players. Unfortunately, he was attached at the hip with head coach Antonio Pierce, so he was unable to continue building the program in his image. Still, he grabbed three starters in the first three rounds of his only NFL Draft, nabbing Brock Bowers, Jackson Powers-Johnson and DJ Glaze with consecutive picks. All three of these players were key contributors for the Raiders last year and showed hope for a promising future despite winning just four games all season. Las Vegas Raiders OL Jackson Powers-Johnson (58).Kirby Lee-Imagn Images Powers-Johnson missed the early part of the season, but settled into the starting lineup at both guard and center during the 2024 campaign. Many have tried to predict which position he will play this season or what he prefers, but Powers-Johnson set the record straight on a recent episode of "The Rush with Maxx Crosby." Advertisement "Center, easy." Powers-Johnson said. "I want to take that step mentally, as a center, so that any look that presents to us, I can diagnose it and help Geno (Smith) get into that. I think that's so much fun and why I love center so much." New head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Spytek did not address the center position this offseason, so it appears that Powers-Johnson will start once again in the middle of the offensive line. He won the Rimington Trophy in college for the being the nation's best center, and he will attempt to bring that prowess to the Silver and Black once again in 2025. Jackson Powers-Johnson Seeks 'Retribution' Against Raiders' Hated AFC West Rival
The Las Vegas Raiders had arguably the worst roster in the NFL last season, which led to an abysmal four-win campaign under head coach Antonio Pierce. Still, somehow, the team had a chance to take down the AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs in Week 13. Trailing by just two points in the waning seconds of the contest, the Raiders were prepared to run one more play before calling a timeout and letting kicker Daniel Carlson win the game for them. However, a botched snap between quarterback Aidan O'Connell and rookie center Jackson Powers-Johnson gave the Chiefs the ball back, and just seconds later, the victory. Las Vegas Raiders OL Jackson Powers-Johnson (58).Kirby Lee-Imagn Images Powers-Johnson and O'Connell both took the blame for the miscue, but ultimately, the details of it were not important. Powers-Johnson recently spoke on "The Rush with Maxx Crosby" about which AFC West opponent he was looking forward to facing most in the 2025 season, and he had an obvious answer. Advertisement "I respect them as opponents. But, I strongly dislike them all," Powers-Johnson said. "Just because of the PTSD, I need retribution for the Chiefs." Las Vegas will take on the Chiefs in Week 7 at Arrowhead Stadium, so that will be the young player's first crack at the team's hated division rival. Ideally, Powers-Johnson has moved past the mistake, regardless of whose fault it was, and he can play focused football against one of the best teams in the league. However, if he can channel that frustration and use it as motivation, then more power to him.
