Public asked to help find suspects wanted in Christmas Eve shooting
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Marshal Service are asking for your help in locating two fugitives, both wanted in connection to a shooting on Christmas Eve. They say a tip from the public could make all the difference in bringing justice. It started off a quiet Christmas Eve morning until gunfire rang out in a local neighborhood. Montgomery County Sheriff's deputies were called to the area of Fortman and Hacket Drive just after 5:45 a.m., where they found a man who'd been shot in what law enforcement believes was a targeted attack. Dayton Police, parole authority need your help to find wanted fugitives The investigation led authorities to these two individuals. Jaevon Wells and Tre'a Miller both now face a felonious assault charge. The two were identified more than a month ago but are still on the run. 'They've already showed that they have the ability and they're willing to commit a violent crime and they've used firearms to do that,' said Michael Black, U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of Ohio. 'So, you know, we don't want anybody else getting hurt. Our goal is to apprehend these individuals, get them off the streets so they do not harm anybody else.' Black is hopeful that a tip from the community can help bring them to justice. 'As law enforcement, we only have so many officers,' he said. 'We have so many sets of eyes, and any assistance we can get from the public is invaluable.' Black says he's very grateful for the role the public has played and will continue to play. At least two of the fugitives featured on '2 on 2' have been captured recently, thanks to tips from 2 NEWS viewers. Black said if you see either of these people, don't approach them as they could be armed and dangerous. Instead, you can submit a tip to the U.S. Marshal Service — call the tip line at 614-469-5540, visit the website, or the USMS Tips app. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
