The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) will soon have a jumbo executive committee with over 100 office bearers holding the positions of vice-presidents and general secretaries. However, the much-anticipated State Cabinet expansion has been pushed by at least a week as the deliberations on the induction of more Ministers could not be held on Monday as AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge was not present in New Delhi. If everything goes right, the executive will be announced in the next two days. 'There will be at between 30-40 vice-presidents and at least 75 general secretaries. The idea is to recognise all those, who have worked hard for the party and ensured it came to power,' a top source told The Hindu on Monday. Other office bearers of the TPCC executive and the District Congress Committee chiefs will be announced after few more days, sources said adding that due care has been taken to include all sections of the society giving social engineering an important place. Meanwhile, Telangana Congress leaders led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will meet the high command once again in Delhi on the May 30 to continue discussions on Cabinet expansion. Since Mr. Mallikarjun Kharge was not available in New Delhi on Monday, the meeting scheduled for the discussion on the Cabinet expansion has been postponed. The high command has instructed Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud and senior leaders to visit Delhi again on the May 30. Accompanied by Mr. Mahesh Kumar, the Chief Minister met with AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal in New Delhi on Sunday and deliberated upon the constitution of the new TPCC executive committee as well as Cabinet expansion. Meanwhile, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar, who spoke to the media in New Delhi after meeting Mr. Rahul Gandhi, said that Mr. Gandhi had agreed to expand the State Cabinet at the earliest. He added that they had been urging the party high command to ensure representation for Backward Class (BC) leaders in the impending Cabinet expansion. He said that he along with his family members paid a courtesy call on AICC leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. 'I apprised him of steps being taken to strengthen the party in Telangana and urged him to take steps for Cabinet expansion, for which he assured to do so,' Mr. Mahesh Kumar said, adding that he had explained the Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan programmes being held in the State. 'There was heat': Suspended Congress district chief explains 'empty seats' at Kharge's rally
NEW DELHI: As the run up to the Bihar polls heats up, Manoj Kumar Pandey the now-suspended Congress Buxar district chief blamed "soaring temperatures" for "inaction" at party president Mallikarjun Kharge's Buxar rally. Pandey who was suspended on Monday, said that the turnout was decent but the extreme weather forced many attendees to seek shade. 'There was a lot of crowd at the District Congress Committee office, we also have a video,' Pandey said. 'Kharge ji was very happy, he even received us at the airport and was in a cheerful mood. His speech went on for 50 minutes and covered important historical points. But there was no fan arrangement in the back rows and it was 42 degrees. People naturally moved towards the trees on the sides for shelter, so some chairs looked empty.' Pandey maintained there was 'no confusion' over the event's organisation and reiterated that the heat was the primary factor behind the sparse appearance. 'The crowd you're talking about was in the back. With the sun beating down and no fans, they moved away. It was the weather, not the planning.' The Congress party on Monday had announced Pandey's suspension, citing poor coordination and failure to mobilise local support ahead of the 'Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan' rally. State Congress media cell chairman Rajesh Rathod confirmed the decision, accusing Pandey of 'inaction' and 'irregularities' in executing responsibilities. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Google Brain Co-Founder Andrew Ng, Recommends: Read These 5 Books And Turn Your Life Around Blinkist: Andrew Ng's Reading List Undo Eyewitnesses at the Dalsagar Football Ground located roughly 10km from Buxar town described a different picture, with more than 90% of chairs reportedly left unoccupied as Kharge addressed the crowd. Eyewitnesses said Congress MLA Sanjay Kumar Tiwary was seen urging people to fill the chairs, but the appeal was largely ignored. Party insiders told ANI that the turnout was embarrassing for senior leadership, especially as Kharge used the occasion to attack Prime Minister Narendra Modi over unfulfilled promises to Bihar and the misuse of central agencies against Congress leaders. When asked about his suspension, Pandey said only, 'It was the party's decision and the party's decision is supreme.' The Congress is currently gearing up for a high-stakes battle in Bihar, with assembly elections due later this year.

Congress suspends its Buxar district chief after ‘poor turnout' at Kharge rally
The Bihar Congress Monday suspended its Buxar district president, Manoj Kumar Pandey, citing 'irregularities' at Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge's rally the previous day. Congress sources said 'poor turnout' at the rally had led to the action. Bihar Congress spokesperson Rajesh Rathore said in a statement: 'The party has suspended Manoj Kumar Pandey, president of the Buxar District Congress Committee, with immediate effect from all positions, following directions from the national leadership.' 'This action has been taken due to irregularities, lack of coordination and negligence of duty observed during the 'Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan' programme organised in Buxar, addressed by All India Congress Committee President Mallikarjun Kharge,' the statement said. Rathore said Pandey failed to coordinate with the state leadership during the programme. Kharge's rally was part of the Congress's series of programmes in Bihar themed on the Constitution. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, addressed three Samvidhan-themed meetings in Patna in the last three months.

Bihar Congress suspends party's Buxar district president for poor turnout at Kharge's rally
The Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee on Monday (April 21, 2025) suspended Buxar district president Manoj Kumar Pandey for negligence in the discharge of duties at a rally addressed by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday. Mr. Kharge addressed the 'Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan' rally at Dalsagar stadium in Buxar with a far poor turnout than expected, and a video of empty chairs at the event went viral on social media. Mr. Pandey had claimed that more than 30,000 people would gather for the event, and had arranged about 10,000 chairs. However, when Mr. Kharge reached the stage, thousands of chairs remained empty. A senior State Congress leader present on the stage on condition of anonymity said that Mr. Kharge had been 'very disappointed' by the thin crowd, with the Bihar Assembly election a few months away. Attendance was low due to the scorching head, Buxar Sadar MLA Sanjay Tiwari told media persons. A local leader attributed it to the wedding season. Bihar Congress media in-charge Rajesh Rathore told journalists that Mr. Pandey had been suspended with immediate effect 'due to negligence in discharging the responsibilities given to him' and 'lack of coordination with the State leadership'. A letter issued by Umesh Prasad Singh, office secretary, said Mr. Pandey had been relieved of all posts in the party. A copy of the letter has been sent to Congress general secretary K.C. Venugopal, the party's Bihar in-charge Krishna Allavaru, State Congress chief Rajesh Kumar, legislative party leader Shakeel Ahmad Khan, and the party's leader in the Bihar Legislative Council Madan Mohan Jha. Several attempts to reach Mr. Pandey proved futile.
