Michigan State baseball goes 0-2 in Big Ten Tournament, ends 2025 season

Michigan State baseball goes 0-2 in Big Ten Tournament, ends 2025 season Michigan State baseball's 2025 season has come to a close, with the Spartans unable to make a fairy tale story come true in Omaha at the Big Ten Tournament. On Tuesday night, the Spartans suffered heartbreak, losing an extra innings affair to Nebraska after an error in the ninth inning allowed the Cornhuskers to come back in the game. The game ended 5-4 in favor of Nebraska after 10 innings. The Spartans came back to avenge that loss on Thursday, taking on No. 1 seeded Oregon. Unfortunately for the Spartans, they fell once again, dropping a close contest to the Ducks, 4-2. Michigan State would go 0-2 during their week in the Big Ten Tournament in Omaha. The two losses officially mark the end of the 2025 season for Michigan State, that saw the Spartans go 28-27, a game above the .500 threshold. It is only the second time in the last seven years that the Spartans have finished above that .500 mark. Certainly, the future of Jake Boss Jr. as the head coach of this program will be talked about in the weeks that are soon to follow. Spartan baseball gears up for series vs Minnesota with the Big Ten Tournament on the line

Spartan baseball gears up for series vs Minnesota with the Big Ten Tournament on the line The college baseball season has reached it's final weekend of the 2025 regular season. For Michigan State, the final weekend of the 2025 regular season will be spent at home in East Lansing for a three game series against Minnesota. Michigan State enters the weekend at 27-23 (12-15 B1G), while Minnesota sits at 22-27 (8-19 B1G). While it is a mute point for the Golden Gophers, other than wanting to play spoiler, Michigan State needs a big time weekend to continue it's season next weekend in the Big Ten Tournament. MSU currently sits at No. 12 in the standings, tied with Illinois (No. 11) and Northwestern (No. 13), and just a game back of Nebraska and Rutgers who are tied for No. 9. The biggest note of that standings situation - only the top 12 teams in the Big Ten standings will qualify for the Big Ten Tournament. With a cluster of teams at the cutline for that Big Ten Tournament, it makes it quite obvious that this weekends games are officially the most important of the 2025 season. A case could also be made that Jake Boss Jr. is coaching for the safety of his job. The series against the Golden Gophers will be played at 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, with a 1 p.m. game on Saturday. MSU baseball defeats Texas A&M Corpus Christi, 8-3

Jake Boss Jr. has his Michigan State baseball team absolutely rolling to start the 2025 season. MSU is officially off to their best start since 2016, after improving to 6-0 on Saturday night. The Spartans are currently down in Corpus Christi (TX) for a three game invitational, the 2025 Kleberg Bank College Classic. After dominating Washington State on Friday, the Spartans returned on Saturday to face off with the host's of the invitational, Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Michigan State defeated the Islanders, 8-3. As has been the story to begin this year, MSU was led by Ryan McKay and Nick Williams, who in 10 combined at bats, reached base every time. Both players went 2-for-2, while McKay had two walks and a hit by pitch, and Williams had three walks. Zach Maxey picked up the win for Michigan State, while Nolan Higgins and Logan Pikur were strong on the mound. Michigan State will return to action on Sunday morning for a game against UCLA at 11:30 a.m. This article originally appeared on Spartans Wire: Michigan State baseball improves to 6-0 with an 8-3 win on Saturday

Michigan State baseball sweeps Western Michigan to open 2025 season

Michigan State baseball is starting the 2025 season in Cary, North Carolina, playing at the USA Baseball National Training Complex. Due to some upcoming weather, a slight schedule was made, and Michigan State was shifted to play a double header against Western Michigan. This year will be Jake Boss Jr.'s 17th with the program, carrying a 408-360 record into the year. The Spartans will look to get back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2012. They are off to a good start, sweeping the Broncos on Friday. The first game against Western Michigan was a slow 2-0 affair that went in favor of MSU. An error on a SAC bunt, laid down by Jacob Anderson, gave MSU both runs. Spartan ace Joseph Dzierwa went 6 innings, only giving up one hit and one walk. In the second game, offense's kicked up a little bit more, with Michigan State defeating Western Michigan, 6-3. Trailing 3-0, the Spartans used a four run sixth inning to go along with a two run ninth inning to propel themselves to victory. Michigan State will look to continue to build off of their 2-0 start when they face off against Monmouth in a double header on Saturday.
