Michigan State baseball sweeps Western Michigan to open 2025 season
This year will be Jake Boss Jr.'s 17th with the program, carrying a 408-360 record into the year. The Spartans will look to get back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2012. They are off to a good start, sweeping the Broncos on Friday.
The first game against Western Michigan was a slow 2-0 affair that went in favor of MSU. An error on a SAC bunt, laid down by Jacob Anderson, gave MSU both runs. Spartan ace Joseph Dzierwa went 6 innings, only giving up one hit and one walk.
In the second game, offense's kicked up a little bit more, with Michigan State defeating Western Michigan, 6-3. Trailing 3-0, the Spartans used a four run sixth inning to go along with a two run ninth inning to propel themselves to victory.
Michigan State will look to continue to build off of their 2-0 start when they face off against Monmouth in a double header on Saturday.

Spartans to release new series following football program, watch preview trailer
If you like the highly popular NFL Hard Knocks series, then Michigan State football has something even better for you. It was announced on Wednesday that they'll be premiering a new Spartans football series that appears to provide an inside look at Michigan State football. The Spartans' official social media account released a trailer video for the upcoming series that is set to premiere next week on Wednesday -- just two days before the Spartans open the 2025 season against Western Michigan. The show will be called "This is State" with the trailer including what appears to be footage from practice, interviews with players and coaches, and other off the field events surrounding the program. Check out the trailer video the social media post below: At the time of this post, there doesn't appear to be too much details behind the series other than that it will be only available to watch on YouTube. I'm personally fired up about this new series and excited to learn more about it in the coming days. Twitter reacts to Broncos trading 7th-round WR for a 4th-round draft pick
The Denver Broncos have agreed to trade wide receiver Devaughn Vele to the New Orleans Saints, the team announced Wednesday. The Broncos just used a seventh-round draft pick to select Vele last year. In exchange for the 27-year-old receiver, Denver will receive fourth- and seventh-round draft picks from the Saints. Here's a sampling of how Twitter/X reacted to the news. Popular Big Ten analyst predicts breakout season for Michigan State QB Aidan Chiles
A popular college football personality has made a bold prediction in favor of the Spartans and starting quarterback Aidan Chiles. A well known Big Ten personality and analyst on social media is expecting big things from Chiles this season. Ben Stevens -- also known as Big Ten Ben -- put out a bold prediction on Wednesday in favor of Chiles having a monster season in 2025. He is predicting that Chiles will lead the Big Ten in passing yards. That's quite the statement from Stevens, and one that would certainly mean big things happened for the Spartans this season if it comes true. Chiles threw for just shy of 2,500 yards last year in his first season as a starter. For some perspective of what it would take to lead the league in passing yards, Ohio State's Will Howard threw for just over 4,000 yards last season. So it would probably take at least that total to lead the league in passing this year for Chiles. Do I think this is possible for Chiles? Yes, I actually do think it is possible. Now is it likely? No, it's not and that's why it's a fun eye-grabbing bold prediction from Stevens. Chiles will get his first crack at putting up some big passing numbers in the opener against Western Michigan next week. Kickoff for the opener between the Spartans and Broncos from Spartan Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on August 29.
