Eerie abandoned UK waterpark where slides are covered in mould and mice run free

Waterworld, a once-beloved family destination in Northern Ireland, now lies in ruins, with mice running around, as a TikToker captures the eerie scenes in a haunting video What was once a beloved family destination in Northern Ireland has now fallen into eerie abandonment. Waterworld, a leisure centre and bowling alley in Portrush, Co. Antrim, now lies in ruins, and its once lively halls are now home to mice and mould. TikToker Jamie Robinson, known for exploring abandoned locations across Northern Ireland, recently visited the derelict site, sharing haunting footage with his followers. Once packed with excited children and families, Waterworld now stands as a crumbling shell of its former self. ‌ In his video, the centre's iconic water slides, once bright and bustling, are now covered in mould and falling apart. The entire complex is derelict, yet scattered remnants of its former life remain — making the scene all the more unsettling. ‌ Inside the bowling alley, bowling balls still sit ready to roll, untouched since the day the centre shut down in February 2020. In the swimming pool area, a mouse can be seen darting across the tiles, a stark contrast to the joyful splashes that once filled the air. The sauna and other facilities also appear frozen in time, as though left behind in a hurry. The clips struck a nostalgic chord with viewers, many of whom recalled childhood memories at Waterworld. 'Was my fav place in Portrush,' one user commented. ‌ Another wrote: 'This makes me so sad! Such good memories as a wain at Waterworld. I used to love the fish tank at the entrance.' Others noted how intact parts of the centre still appear. 'Looks still in good nick,' said one, while another reminisced: 'Any rainy day, that's where ya went in Portrush.' Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council members have urged the council to focus on the sale of the site. ‌ At last month's Corporate Policy and Resources Committee meeting, DUP Alderman Mark Fielding asked for an update on the Portrush water play area, which has been lying vacant since its closure five years ago. He said: 'I think five years is a long time and I'm sure there are reasons why it hasn't been put on the market, but do we sell it in the open market or as an indoor water leisure facility? These are the questions that need to be asked. ‌ 'But at the minute it's sitting there, there's negative social media about it, with it being broken into and different things, so [is council] in a position where we can say we're going to sell it?' TikToker Jamie has also explored other notable abandoned sites across Ireland. One of his previous videos features Ostan Ghaoth Dobhair, a once-thriving hotel in Bunbeg, Donegal. Built in 1970 and located along the Wild Atlantic Way, the hotel was a regular retreat for manchester -united-fc> Manchester United legend George Best. Since its closure in 2015, the Ostan has slipped into disrepair, with rooms left fully furnished but overtaken by mould and creeping plants. The decay has given the former luxury spot a haunting, post-apocalyptic atmosphere, with paint peeling from the walls and nature slowly reclaiming the space.

Easy roast potato trick that promises perfectly crisp tatties every time

It turns out there's a simple way to guarantee perfect roast potatoes every single time thanks to some top tips from Jamie Robinson, Tesco's head chef - who is here to save your dinner time Roast potatoes are one of the most versatile side dishes for any meal, and there's a simple trick to get them crisp every time. Crispy and golden with a fluffy inside is what everyone wants, but sometimes you can be left with a soggy mess. So to ensure everyone gets their roasties perfect every single time, Tesco 's head chef Jamie Robinson is here to help. The expert has shared his best-kept tattie secrets - and you will be sure to impress your guests. ‌ While Jamie's top tips were for Christmas, you can copy his method any time of the year - and it's all thanks to some advice from his mum. ‌ "I've got a proper hack that we do, but I actually learned it from my mum," says Jamie. "My mum always does the roast potatoes, and she blanches them for a week before Christmas to get them really crispy. She'll blanch them in boiling water, take them out and let them cook on a wire rack. "Then, she bags them up with beef dripping and freezes them before taking them out on Christmas Eve. This process of freezing will mean the starch will really set in place. "Then, when you take them out of the freezer and cook them, they are the crispiest, fluffiest roast potatoes. It saves messing about on Christmas morning." Jamie recommends taking all items out of the freezer on Christmas Eve, so they are ready to cook on Christmas Day. "I really maximise my freezer in the lead up to Christmas", he says. "There's certain things I won't freeze, like carrots, because I like honey roasting them, so I'll do these fresh on the day." For those wanting to save space, Jamie recommends using an air fryer to roast up potatoes on the day. ‌ "I think the key thing for me is if I'm cooking for a few people up to four, you've probably got enough space in the air fry for the roast potatoes," he says. "It's brilliant and saves a lot of time. "You can even roast some parsnips in there. Put them in boiling water first, cool them down and then put them in the air fryer with some honey or maple syrup. That can save a lot of oven space." Jamie's ultimate roast potato recipe Ingredients: ‌ 1kg of Tesco Maris Piper or Tesco Finest Red Skin Potatoes 2 heads of garlic 1 bunch of thyme ‌ 4 bay leaves 100ml Tesco pure vegetable oil or dripping Salt and pepper ‌ Instructions: Peel the potatoes and chop into quarters, then gently boil in unsalted water until tender. Remove from the water and place on a large baking tray - move them around a bit to ruffle the sides and then leave to cool completely. Once cool, pop in the fridge for 1-2 hours. Once chille,d remove and add to a bowl. While the potatoes are in the fridge, finely chop half the thyme and garlic and add to the bowl of chilled potatoes along with the vegetable oil or dripping. Coat them gently in the bowl and then either add to freezer bags and freeze until needed or add to the roasting tray. Season with salt and pepper and bake in the oven. Roast at 220°C for around 30-40 mins, giving them a shuffle every 10-15 mins. Finely chop the remaining garlic and thyme and add to the roasties at 30-40 minutes in, then continue cooking at 220°C until they are even and crispy. Irish League brawl condemned as officials await reports after 4 players sent off

The Northern Ireland Football League has "totally condemned" the unsightly scenes that spoiled the end of Larne's match against Glentoran on Saturday evening. A brawl involving players and officials from both teams erupted on the Inver Park pitch after the final whistle, as the home team clinched the point they needed to edge out the Glens for second place in the league and secure automatic qualification for European football next season. It took several minutes to restore order, with referee Jamie Robinson handing out four red cards to Aaron Donnelly and Conor McKendry of Larne and Fuad Sule and Christie Pattison of Glentoran. However, other players could be facing retrospective action for their involvement in the distasteful scenes, as NIFL confirmed they are waiting for reports from the match officials. A spokesperson for NIFL said on Sunday: "We are aware of and totally condemn the incidents following the Larne - Glentoran game on Saturday evening", reports Belfast Live. "NIFL staff have been in contact with the match referee and the match observer to offer support, and we will await their respective official reports. "We will work with the IFA Disciplinary Committee to make sure they have all the necessary information on this matter." In a further statement, the Irish FA said: "We are aware of the matter and, should it be formally referred to the Disciplinary Committee, normal disciplinary protocols will be followed in line with established procedures."
