'India 1100 years ahead': BJP leaders hail PM Modi's 11-year legacy

New Delhi: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi completed 11 years in office, several BJP leaders on Thursday praised his leadership, calling his tenure a transformative era that has propelled India '1100 years ahead.' BJP leaders across the country reflected on the major milestones of PM Modi's governance, citing a mix of economic growth, global stature, national security, and social welfare initiatives as key pillars of what they described as a "historic journey" under his stewardship. On May 26, 2014, Narendra Modi was sworn in as Prime Minister, bringing an end to the three-decade-long era of coalition politics and ushering in a new phase of strong central leadership. Since then, his rise to a third consecutive term has been hailed by party members as a reflection of people's unwavering trust in his vision. Speaking to IANS, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said, 'It's a historic moment that Prime Minister Modi has completed 11 years in power. India today stands as the fourth-largest economy in the world. We are now counted among global powerhouses like the US, Russia, and China.' He added, 'All of this has been possible because of PM Modi's Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives. From the very beginning, he focused on poverty eradication. Crores have received homes, clean water, toilets, and access to basic dignity. In these 11 years, PM Modi has taken India 1100 years ahead.' Anil Kumar, a Cabinet Minister in the Uttar Pradesh government, echoed this sentiment, stating that Modi's leadership has not only transformed India domestically but has also raised its global profile. 'From the Central to the state governments, the NDA's tenure since 2014 has been a success. The people have given us a third term with an absolute majority, which is rare in a democracy of this scale. That alone speaks volumes about the trust placed in PM Modi,' he said. He added, 'Governments are being formed with the support of all communities. It's a socially inclusive governance model. Whatever challenges remain, the NDA is committed to addressing them with the same energy and determination.' From Karnataka, BJP MLC Shashil Namoshi applauded PM Modi for empowering the common man through schemes like Jan Dhan Yojana, which brought millions into the banking system. 'On behalf of all citizens of Karnataka and the nation, I congratulate Prime Minister Modi on completing 11 years. The Jan Dhan Yojana is a perfect example of his commitment to the grassroots. Earlier, subsidies were lost in the system, but now the beneficiary receives the money directly,' he said. He also credited PM Modi for elevating India's international image, saying, 'The Prime Minister is respected globally. His popularity is not just in India, but also across the world.' BJP leader and MP from Khandwa, Gyaneswar Patil, highlighted PM Modi's focus on self-reliance and development. 'Under Modi's leadership, India has carved its own identity at the global level. The push toward self-reliance has reduced our dependency on imports and boosted domestic industry. Be it poor welfare, infrastructure, or defence, every sector has seen unprecedented growth,' Patil said. Another senior BJP leader, Daya Shankar Singh, described Prime Minister Modi as a tireless worker. 'PM Modi has devoted every moment of his life to the nation's progress. His governance has increased India's honour and self-respect globally. His popularity spans continents, and under his leadership, India is seen as a rising power. His 11-year tenure is truly historic,' Singh said. BJP leader Rakesh Kumar Goswami also praised PM Modi's assertive leadership style, saying it changed how the world sees India. 'Earlier, our leaders were seated in the back rows at international forums. Today, India remains at the front. PM Modi talks eye to eye with global powers,' he said. He continued, 'Our GDP is now the fourth largest globally, and we aim to become the third-largest economy by 2027. Whether it is industry, space, or defence, India has advanced in every area. We've seen bold moves like the abrogation of Article 370, the crackdown on Triple Talaq, and operations like Operation Sindoor and the surgical strikes—all carried out under PM Modi's watch.'

Why does Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis want banks to give loans to farmers without the credit score?

When a borrower approaches a bank or NBFC for a loan, the bank invariably asks for the credit score. A credit score is a three-digit score given by a credit bureau which indicates a borrower's creditworthiness i.e., whether the person is likely to repay the loan. This is, apparently, an urban concept where borrowers are either salaried or self-employed whereas in rural areas where farmers apply for loans - the same rule of credit score does not apply. This is what came to light in a recently concluded bankers committee meeting which concluded on Monday. The meeting was chaired by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, where a loan disbursement plan worth ₹ 44.76 lakh crore for the financial year 2025-26 was approved. The chief minister urged banks not to ask for the credit score (popularly known as CIBIL score). He even threatened banks of strict action if banks continued asking for the credit score from farmers. Last year, the state government had issued warning that FIRs would be lodged against those banks which continued to ask for credit score before disbursing crop loans. 'Even the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has clarified that CIBIL score is not necessary for crop loans,' he mentioned, warning the bankers, reported Hindustan Times. These are some of the reasons for which farmers may not have a strong credit history. I. Farmers typically borrow money from the local moneylenders and even relatives. And none of these people report to credit bureaus for obvious reasons. II. Government initiatives such as Jan Dhan Yojana, and digital payments are fairly new. So, several farmers are being included in the formal financial ecosystem, while credit histories take some time to take shape. III. Several farmers may still be unaware of how credit scores work, how to build it. So, they stay out of the formal borrowing ambit. IV. As a result of risk perception, banks tend to avoid lending to small and marginal farmers, thus restricting their opportunity to build credit history. This is a representative AI image (Pic credit: Lexica) Income and gender disparities in India still significant, says UNDP NEW DELHI: India moved up three places to be ranked 130th among 193 countries in the Human Development Index rankings for 2023 due to progress made in improving life expectancy through health sector initiatives, and sustained improvements in key dimensions of human development, particularly in mean years of schooling and national income per noting that India's progress continues amid global challenges, the 2025 report underscored a broader global slowdown in human development to an unprecedented 35-year low, and India is no exception. "Had pre-2020 trends continued, the world would be on track to reach very high human development by 2030, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal timelines," the report this goal now risks getting delayed by decades, UNDP said. "Inequality between low and very high HDI countries has increased for a fourth consecutive year, reversing long-standing progress," it however, signalled a strong post-pandemic recovery on life expectancy in India, which touched the highest of 72 years in 2023, compared with 58.6 years in increase in life expectancy, which rose to 71.7 years in 2022, is among the biggest contributors to India's improved overall ranking. UNDP also highlighted that national health programmes by successive govts have contributed significantly to improved life expectancy over the an HDI value of 0.685, while India remains in the "medium human development category" it is moving closer to the threshold for high human development, which calls for a value of more than 0.7. UNDP said that India's HDI value has increased by over 53% since 1990, growing faster than both the global and South Asian averages. "This progress has been fuelled by economic growth and targeted social protection and welfare programmes," UNDP also factored in improvement in income levels in India. "Over the years, India's progress on economic growth and investments in programmes like MGNREGA, Jan Dhan Yojana, and digital inclusion have contributed to poverty reduction. Importantly, 135 million Indians escaped multidimensional poverty between 2015-16 and 2019-21," it the same time, the report also highlighted that inequality reduces India's HDI by 30.7%, one of the highest losses in South Asia health and education inequality have reduced, income and gender disparities remained significant. Female labour force participation and political representation lag, though recent steps - such as the constitutional amendment reserving one-third of legislative seats for women - offer promise for transformative change, the report the last two years, the expected years of schooling remained almost the same at nearly 13, although the mean years of schooling rose 6.9 in 2023 from 6.6 in the previous year. "Children today are expected to stay in school for 13 years on average, up from 8.2 years in 1990. Initiatives like the Right to Education Act, Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan , the National Education Policy 2020 have enhanced outcomes," UNDP said.

Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar Emphasizes Job Creation and National Security at Rozgar Mela in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: In a significant address during the 'Rozgar Mela' program held at the Marri Chenna Reddy Human Resource Development Center on Friday, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar highlighted the government's commitment to job creation and national security. Speaking at the event, he condemned the recent Pehal Gam incident, describing it as the "pinnacle of the monstrosity of terrorists," and reiterated the Modi government's resolve to end terrorism, declaring that tough measures against Pakistan are forthcoming. Sanjay Kumar praised the Rozgar Mela initiative, emphasizing that it embodies Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dedication to fulfilling promises made to the Indian people. He noted that since its inception on October 22, 2022, the program has successfully created job opportunities, filling approximately 925,000 positions across the nation. At the most recent Rozgar Mela, the 15th of its kind, over 51,000 jobs were offered, moving the government closer to its goal of creating 10 lakh jobs. "We are organizing the Rozgar Mela program in 47 centers across the country, with approximately 700 candidates receiving appointment letters today in Hyderabad Secunderabad alone," Sanjay Kumar stated, expressing his pride in personally handing out appointment letters to 100 successful candidates. He commended their hard work and encouraged them to embrace their new roles with responsibility, urging them to stay updated with technological advancements in their fields. The Union Minister highlighted that the Modi government is the first to address job vacancies regularly, claiming that past governments failed in this respect. "Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, India is committed to creating jobs and maintaining economic stability, even during global crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic," he asserted. Sanjay Kumar also criticized opposition parties for their past skepticism toward government initiatives, like the Jan Dhan Yojana, which has successfully opened zero-balance bank accounts for millions of Indians. He contrasted this with the failures of previous state governments to address unemployment. He concluded by asserting India's economic progress, projecting that the country aims to rise from the 5th to the 3rd largest economy in the world by the next three years, with aspirations of becoming the global leader by 2047, in time for India's 100th anniversary of independence. "I want you all to be partners in Modi's struggle," he remarked. The event underscored both job creation and national security as key priorities of the Modi administration, with Bandi Sanjay Kumar calling for nationwide support in these endeavors.
