He inaugurated projects in the rail, road, rural development, fisheries, electronics and information technology sectors, the government said in a statement.
Speaking in Bihar ahead of the state's assembly elections likely in October-November, Modi said that over the past decade, the Centre has allocated nearly ₹ 9 trillion for the state's development, compared with ₹ 2 trillion in the preceding decade.
Modi also said over the past 11 years, more than 40 million houses have been built under the PM Awas Yojana across the country, with nearly 60,00,000 constructed in Bihar alone.
India's eastern states, including Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal, are among the poorest in the country.
Modi also spoke about benefits received by women and farmers in Bihar under central schemes.
He said the Centre's Jan Dhan Yojana for financial inclusion has benefited women, with about 35 million women in the state opening new bank accounts till date.
In the past one-and-a-half months alone, over 24,000 self-help groups in the state have received more than ₹ 1,000 crore in assistance, through the Jan Dhan accounts.
Over 20,00,000 women in Bihar have become 'Lakhpati didis'—women with a net worth of over ₹ 1 lakh due to the Centre's push for financial inclusion.
The government's efforts to promote makhanas (fox nuts) had pushed global prices up, Modi said, adding that a Makhana Board has been formed to support the sector.
Under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, approximately ₹ 3.5 trillion has been disbursed to farmers across the country, andthat in Motihari alone, over 500,000 farmers have received more than ₹ 1,500 crore through this scheme.Modi also said the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana, recently approved by the Union cabinet, will identify, prioritise, and provide financial benefits to farmers in 100 districts that agriculturally-rich in potential but lagging in productivity and farmer income.Rail projects inaugurated by Modi on Friday included the development of infrastructure for maintenance of Vande Bharat trains at Patliputra,and automatic signalling on Bhatni-Chhapra Gramin rail line (114 km) to enable streamlined train operations.
He also inaugurated a new Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) facility at Darbhanga and an Incubation Facility of STPI at Patna for promoting the information technology (IT) industry and startups.

The burning fuselage of the plane, which was made in 1976, was spotted by a search helicopter after it disappeared from radar screens. It had been attempting to land for a second time after failing to touch down on its first approach, the Far Eastern Transport Prosecutor's Office said in a statement. Operated by the privately owned Siberian regional airline Angara, it had been en route from the city of Blagoveshchensk near the Chinese border to Tynda, an important railway junction in the Amur region. It was carrying 42 passengers, including five children, and six crew. The regional governor and federal investigators confirmed that everyone on board had been killed. Investigators said they had opened a criminal case into the suspected violation of air traffic and air transport rules, resulting in the death of more than two people through negligence. The plane had recently passed a technical safety inspection, Russian news agencies reported, and had been involved in four apparently minor incidents since 2018. India inks Free Trade Agreement with UK: Duty-free access, cheaper British products, more
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to the United Kingdom, during which India formalised a landmark Free Trade Agreement (FTA) set to boost annual bilateral trade by nearly USD 34 billion. The deal promises easier market access for both countries, with 99 per cent of Indian exports gaining tariff benefits and British products like whisky, cars, medical devices, and cosmetics becoming affordable in India. In a joint statement after signing the Free Trade Agreement, PM Modi said the deal was more than just an economic partnership. He said, 'It is also a blueprint for shared prosperity.' UK PM Keir Starmer said, 'A landmark deal with India means jobs, investment and growth here in the UK. It creates thousands of British jobs, unlocks new opportunities for businesses and puts money in the pockets of working people.' The FTA is expected to boost key sectors such as textiles, leather, footwear, sports goods and toys, marine products, gems and jewelery, engineering goods, auto parts and engines, and organic chemicals. The free trade deal benefits British whisky producers as tariffs are slashed in half, reduced immediately from 150 per cent to 75 per cent and then dropped even further to 40 per cent over the next ten years. Automobile tariff to fall from 100 per cent-plus to 10 per cent under quota, making British automobile – auto manufacturer Aston Martin and Tata-owned Jaguar Land Rover – cheaper in India. Duty-free access under the FTA is expected to boost India's electronics exports – including smartphones, optical fiber cables, and inverters – while also giving a push to software services growth. Indian spices like turmeric, pepper, cardamom; processed goods like mango pulp, pickles, and pulses; and marine products such as shrimp and tuna will enjoy duty-free access in the UK market after the signing of the FTA. An official said, 'Feni from Goa, artisanal wines from Nashik, and toddy from Kerala will now enjoy Geographical Indication (GI) protection and shelf space in high-end UK retail and hospitality chains.' The Free Trade deal will exempt at least 75,000 Indians working in the UK from social security payments for three years. Union Minister Piyush Goyal, who accompanied PM Modi to sign the landmark FTA with the UK, said India's talent in IT, services and education will gain from easier access to the UK's high-value markets with the two sides signing the deal. The deal allows temporary stay of Indian business visitors and contractual service providers, yoga instructors, chefs and musicians. Items such as dairy, apples, and edible oils excluded from tariff cuts.
