"I think this is a worse version than Kawhi" - Jason Whitlock says Angel isn't injured but is purposely sitting out games
"I think this is a worse version than Kawhi" - Jason Whitlock says Angel isn't injured but is purposely sitting out games originally appeared on Basketball Network. WNBA star Angel Reese has not played for the Chicago Sky since July 29th. According to the Sky, Reese is nursing a back injury. However, her team has not provided any information as to what is wrong with Angel's back, when she suffered the injury, or provided a timetable for her return. With the details of her injury murky, former ESPN and Fox Sports analyst Jason Whitlock thinks that Angel isn't hurt and has abandoned her WNBA squad. "I think she's quit on the Chicago Sky. She's been claiming a back injury basically since the All-Star break, and there's no details. Every day, we hear that Angel Reese is day-to-day, and every week, there's no update on what she is struggling with, what she's doing. There's nothing. There's no information on Angel Reese. I think she's quit on the season. I think this is a worse version of Kawhi Leonard," said Whitlock. She played 32 minutes on July 29th and just disappeared Angel has missed the Sky's last five games, and the team has gone 1-4 without her. Overall, Chicago is a miserable 8-23 on the season, and they are currently next to last in the Eastern Conference and third-worst overall in the league. Jason noted that Angel had that impressive 10-game stretch where she averaged 18.6 points, 14.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.0 stocks (steals+blocks) per game while shooting 51 percent from the field, 82 percent from the foul line and with a true shooting percentage of 58 percent. Reese posted a 22-13-3 stat line on 32 minutes versus the Washington Mystics on July 29th and has not played since. "I came to this conclusion when I watched the Indiana Fever destroy the Chicago Sky recently in Indianapolis. Guess who wasn't there? Angel Reese. Angel Reese declined to travel to Indianapolis, and her coach said something about she's just focused on her rehab right now, and she's day-to-day. We've never had an explanation on what caused the back injury, what's a time frame for her recovery. All we've heard is day-to-day, and Angel Reese has disappeared," he gave a three-word update on her status Meanwhile, Reese recently posted "In due time" on her "X" account. While she did not fly to Indianapolis with her team last weekend, Angel was a keen observer during the Sky's practice last Monday and was seen cheering on her teammates. The Sky will play the Connecticut Sun next Wednesday night, and it will be interesting to see if the forward travels with the team for that game. Chicago is 1-10 in their last 11 games and is on pace to finish with their worst season since 2006, and with 13 games left to play in their regular season, many wonder if Reese has been shut down or will be, for the rest of the year, to fully recover. Whitlock has a valid point in asking what is really wrong with Reese because it's unclear what's wrong with her back, but bringing up Kawhi Leonard was unnecessary. However, Kawhi is notorious for sitting out games to load manage and prevent injuries instead of recuperating from them, which could be what is going on with Angel right story was originally reported by Basketball Network on Aug 13, 2025, where it first appeared.

Angel Reese accused of faking a back injury after missing Chicago Sky's last five games
After missing the Chicago Sky's last five games with a back injury, one of Angel Reese's loudest critics has accused her of faking the ailment due to the limited information available on her status. Conservative sports commentator Jason Whitlock has blasted Reese, claiming she has 'quit' the team with their disappointing 8-23 record. Reese has not played since July 29, with little information made public since by the Sky or the WNBA star herself about the severity of the injury or how it occurred. No timetable has been set for Reese to return to the lineup with Chicago more than likely to miss the postseason. 'I think she's quit on the Chicago Sky,' Whitlock said on Monday. 'She's been claiming a back injury basically since the All-Star break, and there's no details. Every day, we hear that Angel Reese is day-to-day, and every week, there's no update on what she is struggling with, what she's doing.' 'There's nothing. There's no information on Angel Reese. I think she's quit on the season. I think this is a worse version of Kawhi Leonard.' Whitlock claims Reese has quit on her team after missing the last five games with an injury 'I came to this conclusion when I watched the Indiana Fever destroy the Chicago Sky recently in Indianapolis. Guess who wasn't there? Angel Reese. Angel Reese declined to travel to Indianapolis, and her coach said something about she's just focused on her rehab right now, and she's day-to-day.' 'We've never had an explanation on what caused the back injury, what's a time frame for her recovery. All we've heard is day-to-day, and Angel Reese has disappeared.' Leonard, one of the NBA's biggest stars over the last decade, developed a reputation for sitting out games to be proactive in avoiding injuries despite appearing in full health. Reese's only comment on her status in recent weeks has been a social media post that read, 'In due time.' Reese was at the Sky's practice on Monday as a courtside observer, wearing a hoodie while her teammates went through drills. Whitlock has been more positive to Reese in her sophomore WNBA season compared to 2024, when it was a barrage of disparaging remarks aimed at the Chicago forward.

"10 years from now, people are going to be saying LeBron is fifth or sixth in the GOAT debate" - Jason Whitlock believes LeBron James' legacy will suffer after retirement
"10 years from now, people are going to be saying LeBron is fifth or sixth in the GOAT debate" - Jason Whitlock believes LeBron James' legacy will suffer after retirement originally appeared on Basketball Network. LeBron James' retirement is coming sooner rather than later, and Jason Whitlock thinks life after basketball will not serve him well. He referenced John Stockton's remark on The King's tendency to seek out greener pastures. Whitlock believes that opinions of that nature will only intensify and negatively affect how fans remember James. "That to me, when Hall of Famers that are generally speaking, pretty quiet, wanna be ignored, just sitting out in Utah, when they're taking shots at you at the end of your career, this is an indication of, LeBron's legacy, I think is going to diminish in retirement, not elevate," Whitlock said on "Fearless" with Jason Whitlock. "I don't think retirement will treat LeBron James very well as it relates to his legacy and reputation in the NBA. This GOAT debate, I think 10 years from now, people are going to be saying LeBron is fifth or sixth," added the former sports columnist. LeBron is not Michael Jordan Stockton's comments were several years old and have since resurfaced on social media. The NBA all-time leader in assists and steals took a shot at James' penchant for moving around teams to be in a better situation, saying he "took a helicopter to the top" instead of doing it the old-fashioned way. In doing so, the Utah Jazz legend admittedly propped up Michael Jordan. Like MJ, Stockton believed in 'tightening belts' instead of looking for greener grass, which meant that losing teams must find ways to get better to beat the ones on top rather than team up with other stars. In a similar vein, Whitlock's retirement forecast on James highlights a sharp contrast to MJ's retirement arc. "His Airness" essentially even became more valuable years and decades after hanging his sneakers for good in 2003. As proof, the Jordan Brand is now worth more than $6 billion, according to experts. "Michael Jordan's reputation and legend elevated in retirement. It was already high when he was done. People considered him the GOAT and that case has only gotten stronger," opined Whitlock. James is the all-time leader in points and one of only four players to win three titles with three different franchises. From the surface, his legacy seems intact going forward. However, Whitlock argued that those accolades may not shield him from tough comparisons to Jordan. While MJ spent nearly all of his prime in Chicago, LeBron's frequent moves in pursuit of titles have given critics an opening to question his legacy once he steps away. Perception changes over time, sometimes for the worst Whitlock's take may be speculative, but the past suggests it's plausible. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, and Bill Russell all saw their standing in all-time rankings decline as new stars emerged and the conversation evolved. Even Kobe Bryant, once a lock for many top-five lists, now sits 11th in Bleacher Report's latest rankings. Taking that into consideration, LeBron's virtually unmatched resume doesn't guarantee immunity from the shifting standards that come with time. For all his accolades, his place in basketball history may still be subject to the tastes and biases of future fans. MJ stands apart as his status remains untouched despite decades of debate. LeBron's records are historic, but whether his legacy ages like Mike's will depend on how the next generation of fans and analysts choose to frame story was originally reported by Basketball Network on Aug 12, 2025, where it first appeared.

Controversial Jason Whitlock sticks the knife in on Howard Stern as future of $500m show hangs in the balance
Jason Whitlock rubbed salt in the wound on Wednesday when he launched a scathing attack on Howard Stern amid the shock jock's uncertain future. Stern, 71, has hosted the second incarnation of The Howard Stern Show since 2006, but his near 20-year run on SiriusXM's airwaves is in jeopardy as the end of his $500million five-year contract looms. The Daily Mail reported Tuesday that the host is in 'very serious negotiations' with the radio company on whether he will renew his contract with his show likely to come to an end when his deal runs out. And, as Stern's career hangs in the balance, controversial sports analyst Whitlock twisted the knife on his own show, 'Fearless with Jason Whitlock.' 'Howard Stern is perhaps the most fraudulent and disappointing media character,' the 58-year-old former columnist began. Whitlock admitted he had been an initial fan of Stern when he first burst onto the scene but blamed the radio host's drift to the left as the reason behind his demise. Howard Stern is perhaps the most fraudulent and disappointing character in media history. That's why SiriusXM canceled him. Inauthenticity no longer works. — Jason Whitlock (@WhitlockJason) August 6, 2025 'It's not that I thought he was the ultimate ultimate but I thought he was authentic,' Whitlock continued. 'He was politically incorrect, a shock jock and he was the best at that. And then, this guy pivoted into this woke clown. 'What I find fascinating here is that I think it's the return of Donald Trump and the culture change around Donald Trump that is why SiriusXM is moving off of Howard Stern. The culture no longer supports something as inauthentic as Howard Stern.' Trump himself weighed in on Stern's future earlier this week when he delivered his own take on why the shock jock may be facing cancellation. 'Howard Stern is a name I haven't heard - I used to do his show, we used to have fun - but I haven't heard that name in a long time,' Trump told reporters Wednesday in the Oval Office. 'What happened he got terminated?' the president asked. Stern has not yet been terminated, but that didn't stop Trump. 'You know when he went down? You know when he went down?' Trump then said. 'When he endorsed Hillary Clinton, he lost his audience. People said, get me a break. He went down when he endorsed Hillary Clinton.' Clinton was Trump's 2016 opponent. Stern also had Trump's 2024 rival, Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris, on his show last year. The Daily Mail first reported on Tuesday that Stern's SiriusXM show could be set to end after the shock jock's current contract is up. A show insider said: 'He may do a 1-2 year contract if they can meet him where he wants financially. He doesn't want to pull the plug on his employees like this.' A separate source said Stern was considering 'parting ways' with SiriusXM - and that his staff of 'around 95' writers and producers had only recently heard about Stern's indecision over the show's future. They added the star 'will likely sell his catalogue of shows to replay' on uncensored channels Howard 100 and Howard 101. 'He is off in the summer but this year has been saying "maybe I should retire"', the source said. It is possible Stern could also return for specials with SiriusXM. The source claimed Stern was also displeased over SiriusXM 'leaning heavily' on fellow radio star Andy Cohen. Stern, 71, has hosted the second incarnation of The Howard Stern Show since 2006, but a show insider confirmed to the Daily Mail that the host is in 'very serious negotiations' with SiriusXM on whether he will renew his contract - he's pictured with Madonna in 2015 Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Howard Stern, SiriusXM and Andy Cohen for comment and has yet to hear back. Dubbed the 'King of all Media' - Stern first launched The Howard Stern Show in 1986 on terrestrial radio. Stern decided to take on the challenge of pulling together interviews over the years where he was able to draw out shocking confessions. However, in recent years, the radio star's career fell from having 20 million listeners a day to to figures fans believe are as low as 125,000. He has predominantly broadcast from his home over the past five years, citing fears over COVID-19.

Controversial sports analyst wants Caitlin Clark's coach fired as he claims she's in on plot to 'destroy' star player
Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White is part of a secret plot to 'destroy Caitlin Clark ' and should be fired by the WNBA team, according to controversial podcaster Jason Whitlock. The Fever suffered a miserable defeat to expansion franchise the Golden State Valkyries on Wednesday night, which marked their second loss on the bounce after they were beaten by 11th-place Western Conference team the Los Angeles Sparks on Saturday. In the game against Golden State, White gave more minutes to newly-signed guard Aari McDonald, who was brought in via emergency hardship last month amid injuries to Clark and Sophie Cunningham. McDonald failed to impress on the night, putting up just seven points as the Fever slumped to another defeat. And Whitlock believes White putting the 26-year-old in the team disrupted Clark's partnership with teammate Aliyah Boston on the court, which he claims was part of a plot to 'destroy' Indiana's star player. 'At this point you have to consider the possibility that the Indiana Fever are in on the plot to destroy Caitlin Clark,' the conservative commentator said in a video on X. Stephanie White needs to be fired! She thinks Aari McDonald is Lisa Salters' daughter. The insanity must end. — Jason Whitlock (@WhitlockJason) July 9, 2025 'Stephanie White is an idiot, should be fired. This woman played Aari McDonald 18 minutes in the first half. 'Three weeks ago Aari McDonald wasn't on a WNBA roster. The entire Fever roster is healthy and Aari McDonald plays 18 minutes in the first half, throws the chemistry between Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston completely out the window, they get beat by 19 points by an expansion team at home. 'There is a plot to destroy Caitlin Clark, and Stephanie White and the Indiana Fever might be in on it.' Whitlock then went on to aim a bizarre dig at White over her relationship with ESPN reporter Lisa Salters. 'Stephanie White, someone needs to walk her into a room and say, "Hey look here baby girl, I know you and Lisa Salters got this thing going on, but Aari McDonalds is not Lisa Salters' daughter,' he continued. '"That's not her niece, that's not her daughter, that's not a baby version of Lisa Salters. That's a woman that should be lucky she's on a WNBA roster, ain't no way she should be in our starting lineup."
