Vergne started from tenth on the grid to join pole-winner Gunther on the podium. DS Penske drivers react to double win in Formula E Round 10 in Shanghai Sharing his picture with the trophy on Instagram, Maximilian Gunther wrote after his win at the Shanghai E-Prix: 'YEEESS!!! Pole. Win. P1-P2 win as a team. Couldn't be happier! Huge congrats to @jeanericvergne on second place and big thanks to @ds_penske_fe @dsperformance for the amazing car and strategy today.' Gunther had said in a previous Instagram post that he was ready to give everything in the race after securing pole position in the qualifying round. After the win, he said, 'Amazing! A 1-2 for the team, I'm so happy. A real masterclass this race, I think the strategy, the pace, the execution, the moves – everything was nice. I knew when I put the overlap on Oli [Rowland] and had more energy, I just had to go and get my head down and try to be secure, which we managed. I'm extremely happy. It means a lot, especially after these last few weeks when momentum was not on our side. This weekend we certainly got it back! It's been a lot of hard work and I'm very happy for the team.' Jean-Eric Vergne delivered an impressive performance by reaching the podium despite starting deep in the pack. However, he sustained an injury following a collision on his way to the finish line. Talking about the race and his strategy, Vergne said: 'What a race! It's been a rollercoaster. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now I left a little bit of my front wing in the last corner, I think a bit of my wrist as well – I was suffering the whole race, I really hurt it. Honestly I don't know, I just went for it – I think we did the right call keeping the Attack Mode quite late. Everybody was attacking a lot and I thought that since everyone was doing that I should save a bit more energy and try to use it towards the end, and it paid off quite nicely. He had secured second place on the podium in part of the 2024 Shanghai E-Prix, giving him added confidence to aim high in the upcoming race. He earned that podium while driving for NEOM McLaren last year, before making the switch to Maserati MSG. He currently stands fifteenth in the Formula E Driver Standings with 27 points. He finished tenth in the Mexico Round 2 race and fifth in Jeddah Round 3 before securing a podium in Round 4 in Jeddah. Since then, however, his on-track performance has seen a decline. At the recently held Tokyo E-Prix double header this month, Hughes finished last in both Round 8 and Round 9 races. Sharing a slow-motion video of himself in a helmet days after the race, Hughes wrote on Instagram, 'Japan was a rough one. Fast in all practice sessions but qualifying really curtailed our whole weekend. But some positive signs at least that will hopefully be turning our season around very shortly. #maserati #formulae #tokyoeprix #tokyoeprix. ' Boosting his morale, the official Formula E Instagram handle commented on his post: 'Onto Shanghai,' along with the raising hands emoji. During the Tokyo E-Prix, Hughes also shared several pictures of his Maserati MSG livery on the wet track, captioned: 'Wetter than a pocket full of Otters.' Heavy rain affected the first Round 8 race, which followed a grid order determined by free practice results. There are 11 more rounds to go, with the next in Monaco in May. And with such a wonderful performance this year, the Indian outfit is surely on the way to making history. Mahindra Racing drivers Edoardo Mortara and Nyck De Vries can rightfully take the credit for making the team reach a prominent place in the competition. Mahindra Racing Formula E team is set to achieve big things this year Mahindra Racing's achievement was highlighted by Formula E, which shared a post on Instagram to laud the team. The picture of team drivers Edoardo Mortara and Nyck De Vries was captioned: 'What a turnaround from @MahindraRacing surpassing their Season 10 points total in the first 5 rounds,' along with clapping emojis. The team was struggling at just 47 points last season, but it has already made 51 points in 5 rounds out of 16 races. As a result, it's in fifth position in the Teams' Standings this year. While Mortara stands at 8th position in the Drivers' Standings with 27 points, De Vries is at 11th position with 24 points. It started on a strong note for the team as Mortara and De Vries managed to take 5th and 6th positions in the season opener Sao Paulo E-Prix, respectively. De Vries slipped to 8th position in the second race in Mexico, whereas Mortara failed to leave an impression. The two bounced back strongly at Jeddah E-Prix Round 1, where De Vries climbed to an impressive 4th position and Mortara finished 7th. But they once again slipped to 10th and 13th positions in Round 2. At the Miami E-Prix this month, Mortara once again bounced back by clenching 5th position, but De Vries finished 11th in the race.
