The seven Swansea City players facing uncertain futures this summer
The seven Swansea City players facing uncertain futures this summer There are question marks hanging over several Swans stars this summer Jerry Yates is one of several players whose future appears up in the air this summer (Image: 2024 Getty Images ) Swansea City's transfer window is already up and running, with three new faces already coming through the door this summer. Kilmarnock forward Bobby Wales is the latest to have been brought on board, following on from the capture of Swedish winger Zeidane Inoussa. Melker Widell, technically not a 'new' signing given the deal to bring him to the club was completed in January, is also set to meet up with his new team-mates for the first time. A fair amount of cautious excitement is now starting build within the Jack Army about what the upcoming campaign may hold, particularly after what was a strong end to the last campaign under Alan Sheehan. Sign up to the Swansea City WhatsApp service to get breaking news and top stories sent to your phone Many will feel there's still some work to be done before the first ball is kicked in August, with several areas of the squad clearly in need of strengthening. However, a few players could well be moving in the opposite direction. Harry Darling's future has obviously become a big talking point already this summer, with the centre-back yet to make a decision over his next move following the expiration of his contract. Article continues below However, he's not the only player who could be facing something of an uncertain future. Mykola Kuharevich The Ukrainian spent last season on loan at Scottish side Hibernian, where he netted seven goals in 28 games in all competitions, and appears keen to turn his stay in the green half of Edinburgh into a permanent one. With just one year left on his current contract, it seems likely the Swans will listen to offers for the 23-year-old this summer. Commenting on his future Kuharevich said recently: "I would consider this opportunity to return to Hibs again if it happens, because I am fully adapted to the team. "And, of course, there is a great excitement to feel the taste of European football together with the club and fans, from whom I have constantly experienced crazy support. "But I have a current contract with Swansea, so I am happy to spend the next season there too. "The plan now is to rest, and after returning to work and the pre-season training camp, time will tell where I end up." Jerry Yates A very similar situation to the above really. The 28-year-old spent last season out on loan at Derby County, where he scored 10 goals in 42 league outings, and his success there had understandably sparked questions over whether he might make his stay at the Rams permanent. Paul Warne was understood to be keen on exploring the possibility of a deal. But his departure, and the arrival of John Eustace, has clearly complicated the landscape. "I think Jerry has done very well - that is something we will discuss at the end of the year," Eustace said when quizzed on the forward back in April. It appears there still hasn't yet been a decision over his future, although one suspects that Swansea would be tempted to cash in should they receive the right offer. Reports earlier this month have suggested a few clubs might be circling, including Blackburn Rovers, Hull City and QPR, while there's also believed to be interest from the MLS. Andy Fisher Another player returning from a loan spell, the 27-year-old, who has one year left on his current deal, is poised to return from a short spell at Scottish side St Johnstone this summer. Fisher played 18 games for the Saints last term, having seen his hopes of first-team football with the Swans curtailed by a groin injury in pre-season, and it seems unlikely he'll be overtaking Lawrence Vigouroux for the number one jersey any time soon. As such, there are real questions marks over what may lie ahead, although the lack of real depth in goalkeeping options in light of Jon McLaughlin's departure means he may yet stick around. However, if Swansea can bringing another stopper in this summer, it would surely push him closer to the exit. Florian Bianchini The French winger only signed for the club last summer, but has largely struggled to get up to speed with the Championship. A few games in a more central role did appear to hint at an upturn in form, but the 23-year-old has still mustered up just three goals in a Swans shirt. What's more, he made just eight league starts last term, and played just 80 minutes in the 13 games overseen by Sheehan. Swansea shelled out just over £2m for him last year, and his current deal at the club is set to run until 2028, and those points alone may well see him earn another chance. But one suspects a tidy offer would be welcomed. A loan spell away is another possible option, of course. Jay Fulton The midfielder has already been tipped as a possible target for Plymouth Argyle this summer, and with one year left on his current deal, it's entirely plausible that Swansea might earmark the Scot as someone they can potentially make a bit of cash on. Fulton started just 13 games in the league last season, and is still seen as a solid squad player by those on the inside. He's also been a superb servant to the club over the years, but it's difficult to envisage a time next term where he's a considered a real first-choice option. Goncalo Franco One that Swans fans will absolutely not want to happen. As things stand, there's no reason to believe that Franco will be moving on from before the close of the window, and the player himself is understood to be happy with the Swans. Article continues below But after such an impressive debut season in the Championship, it was perhaps inevitable he would catch the eye of potential suitors elsewhere. Sources in Portugal have indicated to WalesOnline that a few clubs are already asking about the 24-year-old, with sides from England, Germany and, of course, the player's homeland, all believed to be keeping tabs. Swansea are understandably keen to keep him on board, but it's perfectly possible that their resolve could be tested before the summer is out.

Goalkeeper Andy Fisher – who fell behind Lawrence Vigouroux in the Swansea pecking order after getting injured in pre-season – has also played regular games in Scotland, featuring 17 times for St Johnstone and catching the eye in a shock win over Celtic that threatens to take their survival battle to the final 27, also has a year remaining on his Swansea contract, as does 23-year-old stopper Nathan Broome who left for Port Vale in January. He did not make a league appearance, but was a regular back-up as Darren Moore's side won promotion from League midfielder Joel Cotterill caught the eye in the same division for Swindon Town, winning the club's goal of the season for a 30-yard effort against Port Vale. Tonight's Swansea City news as bid for midfielder rejected and Hull's Jerry Yates stance made clear The latest news from the Stadium Ethan Erhahon of Lincoln City (Image: Getty Images ) Here's your round-up of all the latest Swansea City news for Tuesday. May 13. Bid for midfielder rejected Swansea City had seen a bid knocked back by Lincoln City for midfielder Ethan Erhahon, WalesOnline understands. The Swans are keen on strengthening their midfield options this summer and had initially identified the 24-year-old as a possible recruit. The value of their bid isn't yet known, but reports elsewhere have suggested it could be in the region of £600,000. Sign up to the Swansea City WhatsApp service to get breaking news and top stories sent to your phone In any case, it's understood Lincoln's valuation of the the Scotland under-21 international is seemingly beyond what Swansea are willing to pay, with several other clubs also believed to be taking an interest. It seems there was a reluctance among Swans chiefs to get involved in what they felt could be a potential bidding war, and the club are understood to have already dropped out of the race for his signature. Article continues below Erhahon was a regular for the Imps in League One last season, racking up 31 appearances, and his exploits have clearly caught attention from elsewhere. Blackburn Rovers, Derby County, Oxford United and Millwall are all among the other clubs linked, along with Preston North End and League One side Plymouth Argyle. Hull not in for Yates Hull City are not currently interested in a move for Swansea City strike Jerry Yates. That's according to our colleagues at Hull Live, who claim that sources inside the MKM Stadium have indicated the forward is not currently an option being considered this summer. Reports elsewhere had suggested that the Tigers were among a clutch of clubs chasing the 28-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Championship rivals Derby County. Yates netted 10 goals to help the Rams stave off relegation to League One, but his future now appears uncertain. WalesOnline understands a decision over his future at the club hasn't yet been made, but there has already been a suggestion they might well be willing to listen to offers as they bid to free up funds for Alan Sheehan's first full campaign in charge. A return to Derby hasn't yet been ruled out, although again it's not quite clear whether he would be of interest to current boss John Eustace, having been a big favourite with predecessor Paul Warne. Queens Park Rangers and Blackburn Rovers are the other clubs to have been linked recently, while a move to the MLS has also been touted as a possible option. O'Dea talks 'at advanced stage' Swansea City have reportedly moved closer to striking an agreement with Cetic coach Darren O'Dea. Alan Sheehan has identified the Celtic pathways manager as the ideal candidate to take over as his number two ahead of the new season, and he now seems likely to take the post ahead of the summer. According to Scottish journalist Anthony Joseph, talks between the two camps are now at an 'advanced stage'. Sign up to our Swansea City newsletter here Commenting on O'Dea's potential exit last week, first team boss Brendan Rodgers said: "I spoke to Darren yesterday on that. Content cannot be displayed without consent "He came to see me and get my thoughts on what that would be, what it would look like. "Obviously, I know Swansea as a club and a city better than most. "So, yes, I think that there may well be a possibility of him to go as a coach. I think in his heart, he still sees himself as that. "Probably the role he's in now is probably only do-able at a club like Celtic. But I think his heart is in coaching and maybe the possibility to manage later on." Article continues below "So, yes, he just asked my opinion on it. And, yes, so we'll see what happens on that."

Attacking options up in the air as Swans face busy summer
As things stand, Jerry Yates will be back at Swansea City when Alan Sheehan's squad reconvene for pre-season training later this even at this early stage in what promises to be a busy close season, rumours are circling about where Yates may go next after a successful loan at Derby he stick with the Rams? Given that Yates managed 10 goals and four assists for a side who narrowly avoided relegation, it would be no surprise should there be asked by BBC Sport Wales last month about Yates' long-term future, Derby boss John Eustace said it was a conversation to be had come those talks are now taking place. Regardless over whether Derby are keen, there is speculation that a handful of clubs are interested in Yates who, while not prolific, is a proven Championship performer having scored 42 goals across the past four campaigns at second-tier feeling is that if a suitable offer comes in, Swansea would sanction Yates' 28-year-old has another year to run – plus the option of a further 12 months – remaining on the contract he signed in 2023, when he joined Swansea from Blackpool in deal which valued him at about £ move this summer could mean another vacancy as Swansea, once again, head into a transfer window looking for increased firepower. Mykola Kuharevich is another forward who is due back in Wales after a loan spell away, in his case at as with Yates, it would be no surprise should he be allowed to depart once more before Alan Sheehan's first full season as Swansea's head coach there are attacking players who were part of Sheehan's squad in 2024-25, but might be considered surplus to requirements should there be interest from winger-turned-striker Florian Bianchini's impact was limited following his move from Bastia, while Josh Ginnelly found game-time hard to come by having returned to fitness after a long spell out with an Achilles Vipotnik had a decent debut year in the Championship, scoring seven goals in 42 league games – 24 of which were starts – having signed following the collapse of it is not inconceivable that Swansea would say yes should a serious offer come in for the Slovenia international this so many players' futures up in the air, it will be interesting to see exactly what Sheehan's attacking options are come the opening day of 2025-26.

While there's a growing feeling he will be allowed to leave should the right offer come in, WalesOnline understands Swansea haven't yet made a decision over the striker, who still has another year to run on his current deal with the Swans. It remains to be seen whether Derby might come back in for Yates. Predecessor Paul Warne was believed to be a big fan of the former Blackpool man, but John Eustace is seemingly a little more undecided. "I think Jerry has done very well - that is something we will discuss at the end of the year," he said when recently quizzed on the player's future. Bobby Wales has been named as Kilmarnock's Young Player of the Year, with a move to Swansea City still firmly on the cards. The 19-year-old picked up the award on Sunday, having started for the Scottish Premiership side in the 3-2 win over Dundee at the weekend. "I didn't really know what I expected. I didn't know where I'd be, or what level I'd be playing at," he told the club's official website. "Luckily I've done well enough to stay in the team and we'll try to finish the season as strongly as we can." Kilmarnock have two more games left in their season, with the final game being a home tie with Hearts on Sunday, May 18. Wales is yet to finalise his move to SA1, despite agreeing a four-year deal with the club, with a medical still to be done before he can finally be confirmed as a Swansea player. Despite late interest from Preston North End, however, the Swans remain confident the move will be confirmed soon. Former Swansea City manager Russell Martin says he's ready for a return to management, amid links with former club Rangers. Martin has been out of work since being sacked by Southampton in December, but appears keen to get back into work, despite admitting to turning several jobs down already. He told Match of the Day 2: 'Yeah, I'm feeling it's been a good time to reflect. A good break after 20 years or so of playing and then straight into management. Sign up to our Swansea City newsletter here "I think wherever I go in next, whenever I go in next, I'll be much better for it. 'I think it's really important. I think we've turned a few opportunities down because it just didn't feel quite right. It's about the opportunity it gives us, how we feel about it, the people you're working for, all of it comes into account. And also the cultural context, the style of play will fit, how the work that we do will fit with the club.'
