Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut achieves 0 to 400 to 0 run in 25.21s, breaks world record
Koenigsegg has reclaimed the 0 to 400 to 0 kmph world record for homologated road cars, achieving the feat on August 7, 2025, at Orebro Airfield in Sweden. Behind the wheel was factory test driver Markus Lundh, who completed the run in an astonishing 25.21 seconds. This time beats both Koenigsegg's own previous record from June 2024 and every other contender to date. The improvement came thanks to a set of new software refinements known as 'Absolut Overdrive," applied to the same Jesko Absolut used in last year's run. These upgrades, which will be rolled out to customer cars, enhance drivetrain communication, transmission control, and torque management, allowing the car to put down power more effectively in less-than-ideal conditions. What challenges did the team face? Lundh had to contend with a drying tarmac after earlier rainfall, a factor that made both acceleration and braking more challenging. Even under these sub-optimal conditions, the Jesko Absolut's combination of a low drag coefficient, sophisticated traction control, and immense engine performance delivered outstanding results. The verified figures highlight the achievement: zero to four hundred to zero kilometres per hour in 25.21 seconds, zero to four hundred kilometres per hour in 16.77 seconds, and four hundred to zero in just 8.44 seconds. In imperial units, the car went from zero to 250 mph and back to zero in 25.67 seconds. These times shaved over two and a half seconds from the Jesko Absolut's record of 27.83 seconds set in 2024. Christian von Koenigsegg noted that achieving such results with a rear-wheel-drive combustion car, while surpassing several four-wheel-drive electric hypercars in straight-line tests, challenges conventional assumptions about performance technology. What makes the Jesko Absolut capable of this performance? The Jesko Absolut is a purpose-built, road-legal hypercar introduced in 2020 as the speed-oriented version of the Jesko. Its design focuses on aerodynamic efficiency rather than cornering grip, making it distinct from the track-focused Jesko Attack. The massive fixed rear wing is replaced by an elongated tail section with twin vertical fins, and the bodywork is refined through thousands of hours of computational fluid dynamics testing. The result is a drag coefficient of just 0.278 and significantly reduced downforce, around 150 kilograms compared with the Attack's 1,400 kilograms. At its core is a 5.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 producing 1,600 brake horsepower when running on E85 fuel. The engine uses a lightweight flat-plane crankshaft weighing only 12.5 kilograms and can rev to 8,500 rpm. Power is delivered through Koenigsegg's nine-speed Light Speed Transmission, which employs multiple clutches to shift almost instantaneously without disrupting acceleration. The car's chassis and suspension are designed to remain stable at extreme speeds, while advanced electronic aids such as adjustable traction control and torque vectoring help manage the immense power through the rear wheels. These systems work alongside carbon-ceramic brakes capable of dissipating the enormous heat generated during high-speed stops. Why is this record significant? By outpacing all-electric hypercars in this specific acceleration and deceleration test, it demonstrates that rear-wheel-drive petrol-powered machines still have a place in the conversation about ultimate speed. With only 125 units planned across both Absolut and Attack versions, the Jesko Absolut remains an exclusive example of what can be achieved when aerodynamics, mechanical engineering, and software development are all pushed to their limits. Koenigsegg reclaims 0–400–0km/h record from Rimac
Koenigsegg has snatched back the 0–400–0km/h record for a road legal car a month after losing it to Croatia's Rimac Nevera R. The Swedish hypercar maker set the new mark on August 7 at Örebro Airfield, where factory driver Markus Lundh piloted a Jesko Absolut from standstill to 400km/h and back to zero in 25.21 seconds. That's 0.58 seconds quicker than the Nevera R managed on July 9, and faster than Koenigsegg's previous best set in June last year. The latest run used the same Jesko Absolut as in 2024, but with fresh software upgrades the company has labelled Absolut Overdrive. Koenigsegg said the changes will be offered to all owners, promising real-world gains rather than one-off record tricks. 'The run demonstrated the power of cross functional teamwork and exceptional communication between our in-house developed drivetrain systems,' said Christian von Koenigsegg, founder and CEO. 'It's a testament to the synergies between our engineering and development teams, our cutting-edge software architecture and avant garde class leading mechanical solutions.' Conditions on the day weren't perfect. Earlier rain left the tarmac patchy and drying in places, making grip unpredictable at high speeds. Even so, the Absolut's 1,193kW twin-turbo 5.0l V8, slippery aerodynamics and revised traction control kept it hooked up. The car also posted a 0–250–0mp/h time of 25.67 seconds, trimming more than 2.5 seconds from last year's 0–400–0 run of 27.83 seconds in the same vehicle. 'Our software engineers have been tweaking and adjusting the light speed transmission and engine management system and have introduced a new torque control system which manages the grip of the Absolut like never before,' Von Koenigsegg said. 'That we achieve the level of performance with a production car using a combustion engine with rear wheel drive only, beating all four-wheel drive electric cars in a straight line, is almost magical and shows 'truths' can be rewritten.' If history is any guide, Rimac won't leave the challenge unanswered.

Koenigsegg Just Reclaimed a Very Important Hypercar Speed Record
All it took for Koenigsegg to reclaim the 0-249-0 mph record from Rimac was a few software tweaks to the Jesko Absolut. The company's software engineers recalibrated the Light Speed Transmission and engine management system while introducing a new torque control system that now allows the Absolut to manage traction 'like never before.' The changes, which Koenigsegg calls Absolut Overdrive, will be rolled out to existing customers. The Jesko completed the 0-249-0 mph run in 25.21 seconds and the 0-250-0 challenge in 25.67 seconds, beating the Rimac Nevera R by half a second. Here's how the two compare: Record Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut Rimac Nevera R Difference 0-400-0 kph (249 mph) 25.21 seconds 25.79 seconds 0.58 seconds 0-400 kph 16.77 seconds 17.35 seconds 0.58 seconds 400-0 kph 8.44 seconds N/A N/A 0-250-0 mph 25.67 seconds 26.20 seconds 0.53 seconds 0-250 mph 17.18 seconds N/A N/A 250-0 mph 8.49 seconds N/A N/A The Rimac is a 2,107-horsepower electric menace to society, while the Koenigsegg packs an unruly twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V-8 that produces 1,600 hp. The two couldn't be more different, and yet only half a second separates the pair. 'That we achieve this level of performance with a production car utilizing a combustion engine with rear wheel drive only—beating all 4-wheel drive electric cars in a straight line is almost magical and show that 'truths' can be re-written,' said company founder Christian von Koenigsegg Koenigsegg broke Rimac's record on August 7 at the Örebro airfield with factory test driver Markus Lundh behind the wheel, and it's the same Jesko that set Koenigsegg's previous record in 2024 . Rimac Nevera R Steals Back Impossible Koenigsegg Speed Record
Rimac has set multiple new performance records with its Nevera R electric hypercar, adding another chapter to the speed war between Rimac and Koenigsegg. An even more potent version of the normal Nevera (which itself set a string of speed records back in 2023), the new Nevera R has retaken the crown for the challenging 0-400-0 km/h run from Koenigsegg - that's zero to 249 mph and back to zero again. The Nevera R's new time is 25.79 seconds, 2.04 seconds quicker than the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut managed last year. Of course, that's not all the Nevera R managed to achieve, as it toppled many of the normal Nevera's accomplishments. It takes a few minutes to fully digest the scope of the Nevera R's achievements, as the numbers seem scarcely believable. We'll start with the new 0-60 mph time, as that's the easiest reference point most of us have to a normal car. These days, anything under three seconds is enough to rearrange the contents of your stomach. Well, the Nevera R accomplished the run in just 1.66 seconds, beating the normal Nevera's 1.74-second time. As the speeds rose, the Nevera R continued to thrive. The 0-100 mph sprint took 2.96 seconds, the quarter-mile took 7.9 seconds, and the 0-200 mph run took 9.25 seconds. A top speed of 268.2 mph adds to the list of staggering achievements; this was a new record for EVs, which are at a distinct disadvantage at very high speeds. "When we first introduced Nevera it almost seemed like the pinnacle of hypercar performance had been reached," said Mate Rimac, founder and president of the Rimac Group. "In a single generation, we had created a performance jump that previously would have taken decades. But now, through relentless innovation, Nevera R goes even faster, while still maintaining much of the comfort and practicality that makes the Nevera a real, usable daily car. Breaking records is in our DNA, and we won't stop here." Producing 2,078 horsepower from four electric motors, the Nevera R is one of the most powerful cars on earth. Combined with optimized aerodynamics and less weight, it's little wonder that it has achieved a brace of new speed records. Being able to beat the Jesko Absolut in the 0-279-0 mph run is especially noteworthy, but let's not discount Koenigsegg's staggering achievements with the Jesko Absolut, the king of gas-powered hypercars. Running on E85 gas, the Jesko's 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 (with the world's lightest V8 crankshaft) produces 1,600 hp. It has an ultra-low drag coefficient of 0.278 Cd and the Light Speed Transmission can execute incredibly fast shifts. That the Jesko gets so close to the electric Nevera R should not be underestimated. It remains to be seen if Koenigsegg can possibly engineer its car to a point that it can steal back the 0-279-0 record from Rimac, but that's a tall order the Jesko Absolut, a car that already pushes the limits of what's possible with internal combustion.
