Yuzu was once the "hidden gem of Japanese cuisine", and is a fruit that has exploded in popularity in recent years. McVitie's have claimed the new flavour is a "must-try for foodies, trendsetters and flavour chasers alike." Packs have been spotted selling at Tesco, which was shared excitedly to the Food Finds UK Official Facebook group. Looking freshly stocked, the image was captioned: "OMG New In tesco Jaffa cakes Lemon flavour!!" The post attracted a significant number of responses, shares and comments from other users. One shocked member of the group wrote: "Aww didn't see them when I went today, have to look tomorrow. "Sounds a lovely flavour." Another added: "Had the hot honey last week those were good next to try this one." Some were less sure about the new flavour: "Hummmm idk how I feel about these lemon yes but lemon with chocolate humm idk." SWEET TOOTH 'A tangy twist', cry fans over 85p packs of Jaffa Cakes in a unique flavour Tesco has the new McVities Yuzu Lemon Jaffa Cakes that went on sale for the first time yesterday for £1.50 per 10 pack. With a Clubcard, they can be bought for just 95p. They are described as "Light Sponge Cakes with Dark Crackly Chocolate and a Yuzu and Lemon Flavour Centre". They have chocolate on the top, sponge cake on the bottom, and a tangy yuzy fruity bit in the middle. Highlights of the product are stated to be having no hydrogenated vegetable, no artificial colours or flavours, being suitable for vegetarians and "not you average citrus". Jaffa Cakes' marketing manager, Jessica Woolfrey, said: "Jaffa Cakes have always been a firm favourite, and the Yuzu Lemon flavour taps into a trend that's captured foodie taste buds everywhere. "Punchy and refreshingly tangy, it's a daring take on the original that is set to surprise and delight Jaffa Cake fans." This flavour is the second limited-edition variant of the popular British sweet treat to have launched this summer. In June, McVitie's got on the hot honey trend by rolling out their brand new "swicy" Hot Honey Jaffa Cakes flavour. The same month, they introduced their first non-fruit flavour since the Jaffa Cake was made in 1927.
