Clemson basketball adds MTSU scoring guard Jestin Porter from transfer portal for 2025

CLEMSON — Clemson basketball landed its sixth transfer portal player in 2025 with the commitment of Middle Tennessee State guard Jestin Porter on April 22. Porter averaged 15 points, shooting 41.1% from the field and 36.4% from 3-point range, in 34 games as a starter with the Blue Raiders last season. He has one year of eligibility remaining, joining guard Efrem "Butta" Johnson and forwards Nick Davidson, Carter Welling, RJ Godfrey and Jake Wahlin. Advertisement Porter, 6-foot-1, spent three seasons with Middle Tennessee after spending two years at Tyler Junior College. He is a volume 3-point shooter, taking more than 200 3's last season, and is a capable defender, averaging 1.1 steals. He will be a candidate to start alongside Dillon Hunter or provide key minutes off the bench. With Porter's commitment, Clemson has filled all 13 scholarship roster spots. If the pending House settlement passes in April, college basketball rosters will expand to 15. In addition to the six transfers and Hunter, the Tigers have redshirt freshman forward Dallas Thomas and guard Ace Buckner, and four incoming freshmen: guard Zac Foster and forwards Chase Thompson, Trent Steinour and Blake Davidson for the 2025-26 roster. Clemson makes a huge splash in the transfer portal landing guard Jestin Porter

Clemson makes a huge splash in the transfer portal landing guard Jestin Porter According to multiple reports, Brad Brownell and the Clemson Tigers have secured a key addition to their backcourt with the commitment of former Middle Tennessee State guard Jestin Porter. Porter, a 6-foot-1 scoring threat, chose Clemson over several other programs, including Arizona State and Ole Miss. Considered one of the top mid-major guards available in the portal, Porter is coming off a strong junior season in which he averaged 15 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He shot 41% from the field and connected on 36.4% of his three-point attempts. Porter will arrive at Clemson as a rising senior with one year of eligibility remaining. He is expected to bring immediate offensive production and veteran presence to a Tiger backcourt that now includes returning guard Dillon Hunter and fellow transfer Efrem 'Butta' Johnson. This marks the sixth addition for Clemson out of the portal this offseason, and the second guard. Brownell has also added size to the roster with big men Nick Davidson, Carter Welling, RJ Godfrey, and Jake Wahlin. With Porter in the mix, Clemson continues to round out a roster that blends experience and scoring ability—something that could be crucial as the Tigers look to build on last season's NCAA Tournament run.
