Tyrone Minors could lose Ulster Final hero to Premier League club for All-Ireland bid
Tyrone may be without their ace marksman Joel Kerr in their bid to capture the All-Ireland Minor Football Championship title. Kerr, who lifted the Man of the Match accolade following Tyrone's Ulster Minor Final win over Cavan at the weekend, is set to join Premier League side West Ham United this summer. In scoring 1-2 against Cavan, as well as proving the architect of other scores, Kerr left an indelible imprint on the game and will be viewed as a big loss to the Tyrone Minor side just now. Manager Gerrard Donnelly acknowledges the fact that Kerr's skills could take him down a different sporting avenue but it remains to be seen just what path his career takes. His marksmanship underpinned Tyrone's win over Cavan but it was the manner in which he created one of Tyrone's two goals that underlined his sublime creativity and skills. In the early stages of the second-half, Kerr led a counter-attack from close to his own team's posts in which he carried the ball the full length of the pitch before slipping a pass to Cathal Farey, who fired in the team's second goal. With the Ulster Minor and Under-20 titles now under their belts, Tyrone are setting their sights on even more success. Manager Paul Devlin, who gave outstanding service to the Red Hands as a senior player, has overseen the county's recent dominance of the Under-20 sector at provincial level and believes that several current under-age players have the potential to achieve success at the top level.

Tyrone lift Ulster minor title with win over Cavan at Brewster
Tyrone 2-11 Cavan 1-08 A strong last eleven minutes during which they scored 1-03 without reply saw Tyrone get the better of a gallant Cavan side to lift the Ulster Minor Championship title at Brewster Park in Enniskillen on Sunday evening. Tyrone got off to a blistering start to the game but by halftime, it was Cavan who were in the ascendancy leading 1-07 to 0-08. James Mulgrew, Thomas Meenan, Peter Colton and Eoin Long all registered in the opening five minutes as the Red Hands were quickly out of the traps. A free from Fsolan Graham opened Cavan's account in the sixth minute before Jake Brady reduced the deficit further with a superb score. Efforts from Colton and Eoin Long had Tyrone four clear but the rest of the half belonged to Cavan. Wing half-back John Donohoe hit a brilliant two-pointer and after Padraig Donaghy and Nathan Quigley had traded scores a two-pointer from midfielder Grahsm levelled matters. Cavan now had the momentum and just before the break a shot from Quigley took a defection on its way to the net. Tyrone missed a number of chances on the restart before Cathal Farley got their first goal in the 37th minute. A free from Quigley levelled matters but with twenty minutes left to play that proved to be their last score. The quality wasn't as good as the first half but Joel Kerr fired in a 49th minute goal and the winners kicked on. A free from Long was followed by a brace from play from Kerr as Tyrone set up an All-Ireland quarter-final with Cork. Despite defeat, Cavan are also through to the last eight where they will face Kerry.

Virtuoso display by Joel Kerr powers Tyrone over the line for Ulster MFC title
Ulster MFC final: Tyrone 2-11 Cavan 0-8 Tyrone had to come from behind to break down Cavan and claim a first Ulster MFC title since 2022, and they needed a virtuoso display from talented attacker Joel Kerr to see them home. Kerr fired in a 1-2 salvo in the final quarter at Brewster Park to inspire his side to glory and an All-Ireland quarter-final date with Cork. The Red Hands had to come from behind after Nathan Quigley had given Cavan the lead with a goal on the stroke of half-time. Tyrone's storming start saw them race four ahead with points from James Mulgrew, Thomas Meenan, Peter Colton and Eoin Long. They got off the mark through Faolan Graham, with Jake Brady also on target, but Tyrone led by four going into the second quarter. Cavan grew in confidence, going level with a couple of two-pointers from John Donohue and Graham by the 24th minute. Midfielder Mulgrew powered through to regain the lead for Tyrone, but a stoppage-time goal from Quigley, finished low to the net off Mark Reilly's pass, sent Cavan in with a 1-7 to 0-8 interval lead. The Red Hands went back in front seven minutes into the second half, Joel Kerr sending Cathal Farley in to finish low past Cian McConnell. Playing with the wind, Tyrone struggled to break down a well-organised Cavan defence, and didn't score their first point of the half until three minutes from the end, Long converting a free. And they needed a couple of vital turnovers from corner back Ciaran McCrystal to avert dangerous Cavan raids, conceding just a point after the break as they repeatedly frustrated the Blues. Tyrone capped a dogged display with a couple of late scores from Kerr to claim a 26th provincial title. Cavan also go through to the All-Ireland series with a last-eight clash with Munster champions Kerry.
