Joey King in Talks to Star in PRACTICAL MAGIC 2 Alongside Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman — GeekTyrant

Joey King ( The Act , Bullet Train , We Were the Lucky Ones ) is in talks to join the sequel Practical Magic 2 , which will feature returning stars Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. If negotiations work out, King will reportedly be playing the daughter of Bullock's character. Bullock and Kidman are reprising their roles as Sally and Gillian Owens, two sisters who descend from a long line of witches. In the original 1998 movie, the duo finds themselves fighting off a curse that kills the men they fall in love with. Plot details for the second film haven't been revealed, though sources say the story is based on a later installment in Alice Hoffman's 'Practical Magic' book series. Susanne Bier is directing the sequel from a screenplay by Akiva Goldsman, who co-wrote the first film. It's aiming to start production in London later this summer. Practical Magic 2 will be released in theaters on Sept. 18, 2026.

How Sabrina Carpenter and Joey King have become 'celebrity BFF goals' - from their mutual Disney beginnings to teasing social media posts to showing their support for each other onstage and down the aisle

Sabrina Carpenter and Joey King have emerged as the Internet's favourite celebrity BFFs, as both stars have begun to take the world by storm, while maintaining their close friendship. The Espresso singer and the The Kissing Booth actress, both 25, have been best friends for years, supporting each other throughout their hugely successful careers and big personal life events. Fans have become obsessed with the two A-list star's tight bond, branding it: 'the best friendship ever' and 'celebrity BFF goals'. The pair's friendship dates back all the way to when they were both starting off in the industry, with both sharing Disney Channel backgrounds. While Sabrina's breakout role was starring as Maya Hart in Girl Meets World, Joey's first role saw her play Emily Mason in The Suite Life of Zack & Cody back in 2006. During an interview with Wired, Joey revealed that she and Sabrina 'first met many, many years ago at, like, a charity event', recalling: 'Sabrina came over to me and was like, "Hi, I'm Sabrina!"' However, she explained that it took them several years to get to the strong bond they have now. She said: 'What's funny is we weren't always super close. For the first several years of our friendship, we would hang out like once every year and it was the funniest thing in the world, we don't know why it took us so long to become as close as we are now.' Joey later told Rolling Stone in 2020 that while they had known each other for over a decade, they had only become best pals 'around four or five years ago'. During the interview with the publication, Sabrina even sent her friend a video message that said: 'Hey Joey, you just texted me something. I haven't read your text yet, but I will soon. 'I love you so much. This is honestly the nicest I've ever been to her … is this video. I hope you having a good day, you look really pretty.' Sabrina even tapped her talented pal to star in the music video for her 2018 single Sue Me as one of her friends, who helps cheer her up. Sharing a photo of the pair on the set to her Instagram at the time, Joey voiced her gratitude to the singer, writing: 'Sue Me video out tomorrow. Thx for including me Daddy Sab'. And speaking to Capital Buzz in December 2018, Sabrina revealed her eagerness to work with Joey in a film together. She said: 'I've actually been talking to so many people about this recently because we could totally do a Tina Fey/Amy Poehler style comedy. 'We have so much fun together. We had the best time making the Sue Me video. I'm shocked we haven't done that yet. 'Maybe we just have to write it. Maybe we have to do the whole thing. It will be fun when it happens.' While the duo have been pals for over a decade, fans have only recently begun to discover their sweet bond in the past few years, thanks to the two stunners' frequent gushing and typically hilarious social media posts to each other. The friends can repeatedly be found in the comments section of each other's glamorous Instagram posts with a flood of effusive praise. On Tuesday, Joey made sure she was one of the first to compliment Sabrina's show-stopping Met Gala look, after the singer shared a slew of behind-the-scenes snaps of her custom Louis Vuitton bodysuit. The burgundy tuxedo-inspired look with its sweeping train, displayed every inch of her toned legs, and Joey was quick to praise: 'Please Sabrina my heart can't take it. I'm too in love with u'. And in March, the Act star raced to another of Sabrina's stunning posts to comment: 'I'm attracted to everything this post is'. The friends can repeatedly be found in the comments section of each other's glamorous Instagram posts with a flood of effusive praise The burgundy tuxedo-inspired look with its sweeping train, displayed every inch of her toned legs, and Joey was quick to praise: 'Please Sabrina my heart can't take it. I'm too in love with u' While Sabrina has shown the love right back, taking to Joey's Instagram in January to heap praise on her bleached-eyebrow look to the W Magazine's Annual Best Performances Party, by gushing: 'rude to look this good without eyebrows'. Fans have also become obsessed with the two stars' hysterical birthday tributes to each other over the years. Dating back to 2016, the pair have made public posts to mark their birthdays, which are only two months apart. Sabrina shared a sweet selfie of the duo in 2016 for Joey, writing: 'happy birthday apple to my pie', while Joey returned the favour in 2019 with another stunning snap and playful caption: 'Oh how I love you, you stupid chicken head. Happy birthday'. In recent years, the duo have joked around a lot more, with Joey marking Sabrina's 21st by posting a photo of them together with Sabrina's face half cut out of the frame. Another year saw the Bullet Train star sharing a photo of her sporting one of Sabrina's 'Thinking Nonsense' T-shirts and quipping: 'you're so lucky your merch was on my boobs. Happy birthday @sabrina carpenter'. Sabrina has responded by hilariously sharing birthday tributes to her pal over an image of a bin and writing tributes such as: 'the day u were born this world was cursed. happy birthday my angel'. And she left fans in stitches after sharing a snap of the pair to her Stories with the caption: 'happy birthday Joey thanks for stealing my car :/ and crashing it :/ and then saying my eyebrows look like live caterpillars :/ and then screwing my brother :/ and then curbstomping me behind the Outback Steakhouse :/ Dating back to 2016, the pair have made public posts to mark their birthdays, which are only two months apart 'i love you through it all and we can get through this. I know deep down you are the worst person.' The pair's tight bond was made even more obvious in September 2023 when Joey tied the knot with husband Steven Piet on the island of Mallorca, with Sabrina right by her side. The Taste songstress serenaded the bride for her walk down the aisle, and even learned to sing in Swedish to perform Tjugonde by Swedish band Amason. Speaking to Vogue in her wedding spread, Joey admitted: 'I don't know if I have the words to say what it means to me and Steven that Sabrina sang us down the aisle. 'The song we chose was in Swedish... Sabrina does not speak Swedish… Sabrina must really love me.' Following the nuptials, Sabrina took to Instagram to share a sweet tribute to Joey, who she referred to as her 'wife', alongside photos of the embracing and dancing together on her big day. She wrote: 'my wife got married and i wept and wept. i felt so immensely lucky to be part of your special day @joeyking @stevenpiet i love you both dearly!!!! congrats on your love.' While Joey has frequently shown her support for Sabrina's music and praise for her stratospheric level of success last year. She supported her bestie when she performed at the 2024 NYC Governor's Ball, and admitted she was 'sobbing' afterwards. She told PEOPLE: 'Yesterday is the first time I've seen her perform in a few years because every time that I wanted to go to one of her big shows, our just schedules kind of miss each other. 'I literally was sobbing after the show. I was so proud of her. She's just amazing.' While Joey also joked that Sabrina was 'really rude' for writing such an addictive song and music video for Please Please Please that she was forced to listen to again and again. She quipped: 'I'm so happy for her and I just can't stop singing Please Please Please … get out of my head. 'It's so rude of her to make a hit like that. It's also so rude to make such an addicting music video. It's really rude to make me watch it six times at 2:00 a.m. when I want to go to bed.' After being asked by PEOPLE in September to name her favourite song from the Short n' Sweet album, Joey once again gushed: 'Okay this changes literally every day. It's been really tough because I've asked myself this question every day.' Listing her stand-out tracks, she went on: 'I don't know because okay, I'll tell you where I'm stuck here. Because Bed Chem, oh my God, it's so good. She supported her bestie when she performed at the 2024 NYC Governor's Ball (pictured) and admitted she was 'sobbing' afterwards 'Taste' is just so ... I wanna dance to that at the clurb. I know maybe it's not a clurb song, maybe it is? But I don't know. I'm obsessed with that song.' She added: 'Don't Smile is a perfect song I believe. I fear it is a perfect song.' Joey also made sure to attend Sabrina's massive Short and Sweet tour, joining the thousands of fans in the crowd at her Chicago show in October. The Golden Globe nominee took her nieces and sisters-in-law to see the concert in their home town, and chose to hang out in the mosh pit with the fans rather than watch the show from the VIP section. Taking to social media to share snaps from the gig, she gushed: 'I got to see my wife perform in chi town last night and I cried of course. She's just the shortest and sweetest pop star I've ever seen'. Referring to Sabrina's famously racy track from the album she added: 'I might let her make me Juno.' While in another post on her Instagram Stories showing the two friends embracing backstage, Joey praised her pal's performance writing: 'I love you my brina. perfect girl. perfect show. Feel so lucky to watch you shine.' Videos from the night showed the actress dancing and jumping to the tracks Please Please Please and Good Graces, while she also took her family backstage to pose for snaps with the Espresso star.

Best Met Gala 2025 beauty looks

This year's Met Gala has held us in eager suspense—not merely because of the grandeur of the occasion, but also thanks to its groundbreaking theme. A celebration designed to transcend societal convention, cultural expectation, as well as gendered tradition, the fundraising event invited attendees to embrace the dress code 'Tailored for You' as a manifesto of self-expression, where personal history, identity, and artistry are stitched into every seam. Naturally, a ttendees enriched every innovative ensemble with hair and make-up that revealed artistry and intention, leading to a visual smorgasbord that have now been condensed to Vogue Singapore's roundup of the best Met Gala 2025 beauty moments. Every chiselled cheekbone, parted wave, and lacquered lip echoed the elegance, flamboyance, and defiance of Black dandyism, transforming the face into a canvas where tradition met personal expression, and where the politics of beauty were as fastidiously tailored as the garments themselves. Lupita Nyong'o's arches, for one, are a masterclass in precision, with her make-up artist, Nick Barose, fastening jewels in subtly different tones of black, grey, and green to the exact shape of Nyong'o's natural brows. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Below, a curation of the best Met Gala 2025 beauty looks that lingered in our minds at night's close. Getty 1 / 17 Joey King Talk about major hair envy. Joey King pairs lustrous, cascading waves with dusty pink eyeshadow that further accentuates the green in her ensemble. Getty 2 / 17 Dua Lipa Vintage, but with a distinctly futuristic edge. Dua Lipa amalgamates the old and the new with an intricately sculpted up-do that comprises stylised strands curling across her temples. Getty 3 / 17 Lana Del Rey Lana Del Rey's look tonight perfectly embodies her personal style. Her black gown is coupled with a curled up-do that echoes her vintage Americana aesthetic. If you take a closer look, you can also see that she's wearing an alligator hair clip as a nod to her husband, Jeremy Dufrene, an alligator tour guide. Getty 4 / 17 Sha'Carri Richardson The soft lavender hues across her eyelids are delicate, yet bold. Topped with a glossy rose nude lip, Sha'Carri Richardson's make-up look is a fitting addition to the dress she wore tonight. 5 / 17 Aimee Lou Wood The gender fluidity of Aimee Lou Wood's high-shine, side-parted style screams Old Hollywood with a modern twist. Getty 6 / 17 Chappell Roan Your favourite artist's favourite artist walked up the blue steps tonight with a shimmery eye look that was accompanied by dramatic winged eyeliner and rhinestones as eyebrows. Subtlety? Chappell has certainly never heard of her. Getty 7 / 17 A$AP Rocky Paying homage to the rich traditions of dandyism, A$AP Rocky wore intricate finger-waved cornrows with diamond-dressed teeth that matched his nails. Getty 8 / 17 Teyana Taylor Beneath her flamboyant top hat is a durag adorned with delicate kiss curls that juxtaposes the masculinity of her outfit. Dramatically long eyelashes and sharp eyeshadow heightens the contrast, showcasing a balance of defiance and glamour. Getty 9 / 17 Ego Nwodim Ego Nwodim is a hilarious comedian, but no one laughed at her look tonight. Accompanying her breathtaking ensemble is an extraordinary sculptural up-do. Getty 10 / 17 Mary J. Blige No one does it like Mary J. Blige; her look tonight proves it. The Queen of Hip-hop Soul graced the blue stairs in long, feathery lashes and a glossy lip. Getty 12 / 17 Ayo Edebiri Honouring her Nigerian culture, Ayo Edebiri wore a sculpted, braided bun embellished with beads and ribbons that complement her dress delightfully. Getty 13 / 17 Cynthia Erivo Tiny, but mighty. The miniscule black heart on Ervo's cheek is a beauty mark created of her own making, drawn deliberately to symbolise love. Getty 14 / 17 Pamela Anderson In showing off her natural features with minimal make-up, Pamela Anderson draws attention instead to her new haircut: a short, blunt bob with micro-bangs. Getty 15 / 17 Halle Bailey Soft, smoky eyes paired with dark, two-toned lips—talk about a beauty look fit for a Disney princess. Getty 16 / 17 Alex Consani To complement her suitdress, 2024's Model of the Year adorned her brow bones in a stunning array of crystals. Getty 17 / 17 Lupita Nyong'o Dazzling eyebrows are front and centre this year. Lupita Nyong'o wore black rhinestones and blue glitter on her eyebrows to complement her unique ponytail and suit.

"One Of My Favorite Carpet Looks Of The Past Five Years": People Are Obsessed With Joey King's Met Gala Suit

Every May, all sorts of stars descend upon the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City for the Met Gala. And this year was no different. The theme was Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. Inspired by Monica L. Miller's 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, the theme was a celebration of Black dandyism, and the dress code was "Tailored for You." As a result, menswear and fine tailoring were major themes across many of the looks worn on the iconic Met steps. Stars like Colman Domingo in Valentino... Zendaya in Louis Vuitton... ...and Bad Bunny in Prada were fan favorites. Another beloved look came courtesy of Joey King. Making her Met Gala debut, she wore a custom Miu Miu suit adorned with numerous glass (or maybe crystal?) embellishments. But that's not all. She paired the gorgeous suit with a checked white-and-black dress shirt juxtopsed perfectly with a deep red and mustard yellow tie. She topped it off with an ascot and a brown belt. The look was a huge hit online with many declaring the Joey had one of the best looks of the night: Ok Joey King I wasn't familiar with your game #MetGala #MetGala2025 — nat 🇲🇸🇦🇬 (@laugh_track_nat) May 5, 2025 Steve Eichner/WWD via Getty Images / Via Twitter: @laugh_track_nat joey king with the best white celeb look so far is crazy work — folu (@notfolu) May 5, 2025 @notfolu/X / Via Twitter: @notfolu Joey King, these embellishments are sickening! — gabriel (@binzbysolange) May 5, 2025/Steve Eichner/WWD via Getty Images / Via Twitter: @binzbysolange was not expecting Joey King to go this hard but this look is stunning. It's fun, it's on-theme, it's colorful and stands out, and the hair is a perfect balance for the suit. I am digging it. #metgala — mallison ick (@allison_mick) May 5, 2025/ Via Twitter: @allison_mick
