Teen accused of causing three deaths to file representations
SEREMBAN: A 17-year-old, who allegedly caused the death of three young motorcyclists due to reckless driving, will file a representation to review the charge. Lawyer for the accused, Johan Radzi, told this to magistrate Nurul Azuin Mohd Talhah when the case came up for mention. 'We will file a representation after we get the relevant documents from the prosecution,' he said. On April 22, the accused claimed trial to a charge of causing the deaths of Muhammad Aidil Ramdan Abdullah, 15, Muhammad Aswari Lotpi, 16, and Aisar Azim Abdullah, 17. The offence was allegedly committed at the Taman Matahari junction along Jalan Persiaran Senawang 1 near here at 8.30pm on March 6. The charge under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 carries a jail term of between five and 10 years and a fine of between RM20,000 and RM50,000, upon conviction. The accused had also claimed trial to another charge of driving without a valid licence. He was charged under Section 26(1) of the same Act, which carries a fine of between RM300 and RM2,000, imprisonment of up to three months or both, upon conviction. Johan said his client will also be filing a representation for this charge. The court fixed June 26 to hear the outcome of the representations.

The prosecution, represented by Prosecuting Officer, ASP M. Shanmugavell, said they were prepared to hand over the documents to the defence.

Teen driver in deadly Honda Jazz crash seeks A-GC review
SEREMBAN: The Sessions Court here today set June 26 for a decision on the representation submitted by a 17-year-old Honda Jazz driver accused of causing the deaths of three teenagers in Senawang in March. Magistrate Nurul Azuin Mohd Talhah fixed the date after defence counsel Johan Radzi informed the court that the representation would be submitted to the Attorney-General's Chambers (A-GC). Earlier, prosecuting officer Assistant Superintendent M. Shanmugavell of the Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department said that the prosecution was ready to hand over the relevant documents to the defence. The teenager faces a charge of driving dangerously and causing the deaths of Muhammad Aidil Ramdan Abdullah, 15; Muhammad Aswari Lotpi, 16; and Aisar Azim Abdullah, 17. The charge, framed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, carries a penalty of five to 10 years' imprisonment and a fine ranging from RM20,000 to RM50,000, upon conviction. He also faces a second charge under Section 26(1) of the same Act for driving without a valid licence. If convicted, the offence is punishable with a fine of between RM300 and RM2,000, imprisonment of up to three months, or both.
