Chelsea target 'asks to be left out of pre-season match' as Stamford Bridge move gathers pace after 'agreeing personal terms'
Ajax defender Jorrel Hato asked to be omitted from the Dutch giant's pre-season match against Como on Sunday as he looks to complete a move to Chelsea, reports in the Netherlands claim. The Blues are in talks with the highly touted 19-year-old, who has also been linked with Liverpool and Arsenal in this transfer window. However, it now appears that Chelsea are close to winning the race for one of the most promising Dutch prospects in years, given his reported reluctance to take to the field for the Amsterdam club. Dutch outlet Algemeen Dagblad reported that the versatile defender told new Ajax boss John Heitinga that he would 'rather not play' in the side's Como Cup final defeat to Como on Sunday. The outlet claim that the decision is 'entirely related' to his potential move to Stamford Bridge though 'that doesn't say anything about the status of negotiations, which are currently difficult'. Ajax are believed to be holding out for a fee in the £60million for their academy product who has three years remaining on his contract. Last week, ESPN reported that the Blues' initial bid for the teenager was rejected, but aware of the defender's desire to leave, Ajax have responded with a counter offer. Last Wednesday, his agent Humphry Nijman confirmed to De Telegraaf that the wonderkid is about to be in talks with the Blues. When asked, he responded: 'The only thing I can say is that Jorrel is now going to talk to Chelsea.' Hato is a left-back who can also play in central defence. According to Fabrizio Romano, he has agreed personal terms with the London club. Chelsea have already made a splash in the transfer market, signing Jamie Gittens, Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Dario Essugo and Estevao. Noni Madueke's £52m move to Arsenal and the huge Club World Cup victory earnings have helped boost the coffers. Hato played for the Dutch side at the Euro Under 21s tournament this summer where they lost 2-1 to England in the semi-finals.

Shock moment Celtic and Ajax fans clash at Como Cup as trouble flares during friendly tournament in Italy
HERE'S the shock moment followers of Celtic and Ajax clashed during a FRIENDLY pre-season event in Italy. The Hoops and the Amsterdam based giants were meeting in tonight's Como Cup semi-final, which ended in a resounding 5-1 win for John Heitinga's men. 3 3 3 The match was played out after major thunderstorms caused torrential rain in the hours before kick off. And trouble flared behind one of the goals during the second period, despite the genteel surroundings in one of the most picturesque spots in European football. Our footage shows fans of the two teams throwing missiles such as bottles over a fence in place to segregate the two sets of fans. It's unclear what sparked the violence, although at least one Hoops follower in the video has a Palestinian flag while Ajax make great play of their connection with the Jewish community in Holland. Cops and security staff were kept busy attempting to keep them apart. On the pitch, a double from Steven Berghuis added to goals from Davy Klaessen, Aaron Bouwman and Rayane Bounida as the Dutch side Yang Hyun-Jun got the goal for Brendan Rodgers' men, sweeping in a fine finish after a sweeping move. The Hoops will now face Al-Ahli in the third/fourth place match on Saturday evening. More to follow. Crystal Palace agree deal to sign Croatia international Borna Sosa from Ajax
Crystal Palace have agreed a deal to sign Borna Sosa from Ajax for about £3m, with the Croatia defender due to have his medical on Monday. The 27-year-old, who made 20 appearances on loan at Torino last season, is expected to provide competition for Tyrick Mitchell at left wing-back but is also capable of playing on the opposite flank. Palace signed Ben Chilwell on loan in January but he has returned to Chelsea. Sosa, who helped Croatia to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup in 2022, has three years on his contract at Ajax but has reportedly been told he is not part of the new manager John Heitinga's plans.
