This spot is where you'll find the best fried chicken in the U.S.
All you vegetarians out there, scroll to another story. Because this one is about that first bite into a succulent piece of chicken, piping hot, embedded in its perfectly spiced, crispy golden coating. Your fingers will get greasy, you'll run through a dozen napkins, you'll get crumbs everywhere, but it's worth it, because a piece of fried chicken—if it's done right—can be a form of prayer to the barnyard gods. The best experience is in your own or someone else's kitchen, but if you have to find your chicken via fast food, the best place to go is Jollibee, according to USA Today 10 Best. The top 10 list of best fast food chicken spots was first selected by the paper's editors and dining experts, then put to readers to vote. It is giving us a literal understanding of the phrase winner, winner, chicken dinner. Jollibee, a fast food chain that started in the Philippines and now has 100 U.S. locations. The first one opened in Daly City, California, in 1998. Jollibee serves a lot of items off its menu and the standout is Chickenjoy, a marinated and hand-breaded fried chicken that comes with savory gravy on the side. As with most places, you can order it regular or spicy. For Filipinos, it's nostalgic food with much more juicy chicken than you find in other fast food places in the U.S. In second place is Pollo Campero, a Guatemalan company which began in 1971 and came to the U.S in 2002 with a location in Los Angeles. It's now grown to about 140 restaurants. Their fried chicken comes with either a dinner roll or tortillas, and the sides are better than the typical American French fries: you can order yuca fries, sweet plantains, or Campero beans made with ancho and chipotle peppers. The third-best fried chicken right now is Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken. This Ohio-based franchise offers honey-dipped hand-breaded chicken that is then pressure-fried. Southern-style sides include smoky green beans, baked beans and, of course, flaky biscuits. Of course, now that you've read this far, you're obliged to be dreaming of fried chicken so hot it almost burns your fingers and your tongue—we know we are. Jollibee is No. 1's Best Fast Food Fried Chicken for 2nd straight year — USA Today
Jollibee's Chickenjoy was hailed as the No. 1 "Best Fast Food Fried Chicken" in the United States for 2025, marking its second consecutive win. The Filipino favorite beat out major American brands, including Popeyes, KFC, and Chick-fil-A. The rankings were determined by a panel of USA Today editors, food experts, and public voting. "Jollibee is the largest and fastest-growing Asian restaurant company in the world. They're best known for Chickenjoy, the signature juicy, flavorful fried chicken. Order it in buckets or accompanied by sides — and don't forget to dip it in their silky gravy," said USA Today 10Best. Trailing Jollibee on the list were Pollo Campero from Guatemala and Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken from Ohio. Jollibee USA also celebrated the win on Facebook, thanking fans and supporters. "WE LOVE YOU JOLLIBEE FAMILY!!! Thank you to USA TODAY 10Best and all our fans for naming us the #1 Fast Food Fried Chicken two years in a row!!!" it said. This isn't the first time Jollibee's Chickenjoy has received top recognition in the US. Fast food giants eye Australian consumers as pretzel empire opens its first local store
A proud American institution has opened its doors for the first time in Australia, offering something a little different to most US fast food empires. Auntie Anne's famous pretzels, hotdogs and ice cream delights will be available to Sydneysiders from Saturday, with the first store opening its doors at Westfield Parramatta. And it isn't likely to be the only one, with Popeyes, Jollibee and Firehouse Subs looking for store locations to bring over their popular goods for Australian consumers. Auntie Anne's was started in 1988 when founder Anne Beiler bought a stand in a Pennsylvania farmer's market. She started baking pretzels to help fund her husband's desire to provide free family counselling services for their community. Her husband's dream ultimately came true with the popularity of the now-international pretzels. Executive Director of Food, Beverage and Agribusiness Insights at ANZ, Michael Whitehead, isn't surprised by the interest of the US fast-food chains. 'Australians cannot get enough chicken in our fast-food restaurant — it has become the dominant meat,' he told 7NEWS. 'We will see people flocking to it — trying it — and people from all demographics.' Popeyes chicken, which is known for its 'mouth-watering crunch and juicy fried chicken bursting with Louisiana flavour', is planning to rival Australian favourite, KFC. Red Rooster, Oporto and KFC currently dominate Australia's takeaway chicken market. Popeyes' potential expansion to the local market would be the latest US venture to hit Australian shores, following the likes of Wendy's, In-N-Out Burger and Chuck E. Cheese. Currently, there is no information about where or when Popeyes is planning to open. Popular chain Jollibee is also planning to open in Sydney, with a potential location in Campbelltown according to Delicious. The Filipino fast-food giant offers burgers, named Yumburgers, with chicken. But something never offered by a fast-food giant before is its ready-to-eat spaghetti. Sandwich king Firehouse Subs, meanwhile, is blazing a trail into Australia with plans to open 165 locations across the country over the next decade. The first restaurant will open in south-east Queensland in late 2025, marking the start of the brand's ambitious expansion into the Australian market.
