One of the NHL's top head coaching options is no longer available for the Boston Bruins. The New York Rangers have announced that they have hired Mike Sullivan to be their next head coach. When it was announced that the Pittsburgh Penguins and Sullivan mutually decided to part ways, the Bruins were viewed as a clear potential landing spot for the Massachusetts native. However, he is officially heading to the Rangers, where he will now look to help them turn things back around. In 739 games as the Penguins' bench boss, he put together a 409-255-89 record and led them to back-to-back Stanley Cup championships in 2016 and 2017. While Sullivan is now no longer available, the Bruins still have several other intriguing options worth considering. Some top names who are currently on the coaching market include Rick Tocchet, Peter Laviolette, Gerard Gallant, and Jay Woodcroft. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see who the Bruins' next head coach will be, but we know now that a reunion with Sullivan officially will not be occurring. It gave the Oilers a 5-2 lead and proved to be the club's eventual game-winner, as Edmonton won by a 6-4 final score.
