Man who died in crash between car and lorry on A71 named

A man who died in a crash involving a car and a lorry on the A71 in North Ayrshire has been named by police. Officers were called to the crash, involving a grey Kia Ceed and white DAF HGV, on the westbound carriageway between the Corsehillmount Roundabout and Warrix Interchange around 11am on Thursday, July 31. The driver of the car, Abraham Torrance from Kilmarnock, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have asked for privacy at this time. The road was closed for investigations and reopened around 4.40pm. Constable Josh Forrester said: 'Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr Torrance and enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the crash and the events leading up to it continue. 'We are asking anyone who can assist with information, including dash-cam footage, to get in touch if they have not already spoken to officers.' A man has died after the car he was driving crashed into an HGV. ‌ Today police are appealing for information after the 70-year-old male driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the A71 horror smash. ‌ Emergency services were scrambled to the major route just after 11am yesterday morning to a report of a crash involving a grey Kia Ceed and a white DAF HGV westbound between the Corsehillmount Roundabout and Warrix Interchange. ‌ The road was closed for almost six hours to allow emergency workers and investigators to work at the scene.
