Man quizzed over ‘assault' of naked man who dropped trousers on Tube before being tackled by ‘vigilante' passengers

A MAN is being quizzed over the suspected assault of a naked man who dropped his trousers down on the Tube before being tackled by passengers. The naked man, who was wearing headphones and a white t-shirt, dropped his trousers in the middle of a packed carriage in London on Friday. 3 Stunned commuters watched on as the chaotic scene unfolded on the District Line at around 3.30pm. The naked man - who has since been detained under the mental health act - began yelling as the train stopped at Upton Park before video showed him dropping his trousers and holding his belt. Footage shows him with his genitals on show, sparking concern from passengers including families with children on summer holidays from school. With no sign of help, furious commuters took matters into their own hands with the man "exposing himself" as children sat nearby. It led to an altercation on the Tube involving at least four other men, which ended as the train pulled into East Ham station. Detectives are probing whether the vigilantes committed any criminal offences in the confrontation after the man refused to pull up his trousers. A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to reports of a man exposing himself on the District Line at East Ham Underground station at around 3.30pm on 7 August. "The man had been assaulted by a number of other passengers and was initially arrested by an off-duty officer, before being detained under the mental health act and taken to hospital where he remains having been sectioned. "One man involved in the assault has been interviewed by officers, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing. "Anyone who witnessed what happened, who hasn't already spoken to police, is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 quoting ref 458 of 07/08/25." The naked man was carried on to the platform and put on the floor by some passengers as well as an off-duty cop. During the shocking scenes, one passenger stood up and firmly told the naked man: 'You need to get off the train." But the naked man, still with trousers round his ankles, lashed back, he shouted 'f*** off!' and refused to leave or cover up his bottom or genitals. The commuter replied: "What do you mean f*** off. You need to get off the f***ing train. Now. There are kids on here!" The naked man appears increasingly aggressive before other members of the public decided to make a move. A group of men surrounded the man, demanding: 'Pull your f***ing trousers up!' But the man appeared to lash out, swinging his belt as a violent scuffle erupted. He appeared to be punched and kicked before being wrestled to the floor. Footage then shows the naked man pinned down with his arm twisted behind his back as passengers shouted: 'We've got to get him off!' Shocked witnesses watched on as he was pinned to the floor of the carriage by the strangers. After being carried off, he was pinned down on the platform once more as bewildered onlookers watched the chaos unfold in broad daylight. 3

Jersey road workers wearing bodycams due to verbal abuse

Workers are having to wear bodycams after experiencing verbal abuse at road closure sites in Jersey, a tarmac company has and Pallot Tarmac said it was a preventative step to help the workers protect themselves, calling the abuse from some islanders "disgraceful".One road closure at the end of July saw business owners on the east coast say the six-week roadwork scheme could have been planned for a different time of year to reduce Andy Jehan, Minister for Infrastructure, said the school holidays "were deemed the best time to do it" due to the reduced amount of traffic. Managing director Mike Osborne said although most people were understanding about the road closures, abuse and threats were difficult to deal said: "It's demoralising and it increases the stress levels considerably if you don't know how the next person that you're going to engage with is going to react to you. "We're very grateful for the many people that are really appreciative and bring treats and goodies for the guys, but some people do get very abusive with these guys that are just supporting these essential works for the island." Mr Osborne said the workers had felt "threatened" and had even had to call for police intervention in some said: "I think it's disgraceful that we've reached the point where operatives trying to implement a scheme for the safety of the people on the site and the people affected by the site have to wear body cams for their own ultimate protection."I think it's a very small minority that are causing these problems but they are indeed becoming very significant problems."Mr Osborne added the roadworks would ultimately benefit all added: "Just be respectful and courteous to the people that are trying to assist the public."

Trans officer's alleged rape victim so young she liked teddies, court told

A transgender volunteer police officer allegedly told his victim he wanted to rape her despite her being 'so young' she was still interested teddy bears, a court has heard. Amersham Law Courts heard that James Bubb, who now identifies as a woman named Gwyn Samuels but will be referred to by his biological sex throughout the trial, was violent towards the complainant when taking her virginity while in her early teens. In a police interview played to the court on Tuesday, the alleged victim told officers that at the age of 12, the defendant, who was 21, looked 'paranoid' when the pair were out in public together. The complainant met Bubb on Omegle, a video-chat site for strangers, in 2018. She spoke of how she was 'frozen' when the now-27-year-old defendant attempted to engage in sexual activity in public shortly before her 13th birthday. She reportedly told the defendant she was five years older than she actually was when they first met, but insisted he knew she was underage. The complainant told police of their first in-person meeting at a Christian festival where Bubb, who was working as a volunteer steward at the time, made remarks about going into her tent and having sex with her. She spoke of how the pair met up away from other festival-goers and said her colour-coded child wristband was clearly on show. 'I remember being scared' The alleged victim said: 'He was really paranoid, looking around constantly. We were in a relationship in my eyes but I was being hidden whenever we were in public. 'He made remarks in person about when it was dark… about coming into my tent and having sex with me. 'I was actually so young at that point that I had a teddy bear in my tent. He knew at the time that I was very much interested in things like teddies.' Addressing how she felt when the defendant spoke of going into her tent, she continued: 'I said I wasn't comfortable with that… and I believe he sent me a text on Snapchat at that point and he said he was probably going to come into my tent either way – maybe while I was sleeping. 'I remember being scared that night.' The complainant went on to speak about how when the pair started having sex, Bubb was violent. She said: 'He had his hands around my throat. I tried to get words out but they weren't coming out as easily.' She told the officer that sometimes the defendant was 'hitting me during sex… sometimes he would punch me'. 'He would also make remarks about raping me,' she added. 'He told me I enjoyed being raped and when I said no, he didn't stop and that's when he made these specific remarks.' The defendant has denied one count of rape in relation to one complainant and two counts of rape, two counts of sexual activity with a child, one count of assault of a child under 13 by penetration, one count of rape of a child under 13 and one count of assault by penetration in relation to the other complainant. All charges are alleged to have taken place between Jan 1 2018 to April 2 2024. The defendant, of High Street, Chesham, Buckinghamshire, denies all charges.
